Did Disney always plan for DVC to get this large?

I'm not familiar with the complete history of DVC. I am curious though, did the planners of DVC, expect to grown to the point of this many members and this many resorts? Will they continue to build as long as there is some demand?

The number of owners seems to change depending on who is reporting and how they word the statement. A few years ago, 450, 000 members, lately I read somewhere around 200,000. One number may be members, the other memberships.

I think the short answer is no. There's a reason that the first resort was called "Disney Vacation Club" and included free passes/entry to the park and was cheap as heck at the time. No one thought (outside of those who came up with the idea) that it would boom as it has. Now it's a cash cow they're milking to death.

The Poly bungalows come to mind- wow did we get USED on that one!

For those of you who watch Million Dollar Listing: New York on Bravo, Ryan's mantra seems most fitting: Expansion. Always, in all ways.
