Did Clay Aiken come out?

RickinNYC, you're going to spoil all the fun here if you keep making intelligent, relevant, well-written posts like that. :thumbsup2

For some reason, I'm reminded of when Peter Allen was on the Tom Snyder show many years ago, and he opened the interview by saying:

"People keep asking me, are you or aren't you? Well, tonight I'm here to tell you that I most definitely am . . . Australian."

(And despite the fact that I remember a Peter Allen interview from 1970something, as well as owning Barbra Strieisand albums, acting in plays, and being able to sing most of Rogers and Hammerstein from memory, I am, in fact, NOT gay. So I am here to officially out myself as straight. :rotfl2: )

Now, who is this Clay Aikins person anyway? :rotfl:

See? It's not so fun having to be on the defensive about things that really shouldn't be such a big deal to a bunch of strangers.

I probably shouldn't ask  , but did I do that to you? I really don't remember.

This thread has me in a tizzy. I haven't been so rattled by a thread since I innocently said I thought kids who wanted to play music in HS shouldn't be forced to do marching band -- you would have thought I'd said that I thought poisoning children was just fine with me or something. I had the wrath of God rain down on me, and to this day, I still don't get it!!! :rotfl:

And sooooooo folks, I guess he didn't come out, and that's really all I was asking, :rolleyes1 .

Clay looked incredible last night. I love his new look. I love the way he carries his self. He's HOT!!! :)

I have a gay friend that is so hot I blush every time I'm around him -- really. It is so freaking embarrassing. I really think I have a crush on him or something. But I digress...

That light goes off... heck, it's ok to be... if they're gay then maybe if's ok if my son....

I think that might work on people who are basically accepting, but just uncomfortable with homosexuality. (you know the ones "I know it exists, but just don't talk about it in front of me" types.)

I have known a few virulently homphobic people in my time, and the knowledge that celebrities or personal friends are gay did not soften their hearts one bit. If anything, it made them slightly paranoid that "those people" are everywhere.

And if a person truly believes that homosexuality is a sin, they probably aren't going to change that belief, they're just going to add another name to the list of sinners.

Baby steps, you know.

It's not going to change the hardest of hearts immediately, but these things happen gradually. I know a woman who's son has very recently come out (not the friend I was talking about -- she's known about her son for years). Anyway, this other woman is having a hard time of it. She loves her son, but it's against everything she's ever believed in. I think a celebrity she admires coming out would be a comfort to her.

But not Clay, no sireee bob we've established that he has not come out!!! :rotfl:

Clay coming out would be like all of us here on the board saying we love Disney.

It's known without saying. :teeth:

I'm a big Clay fan right from his first audition and I happen to be gay. I'm a strong believer in the fact that what people want to make public (and even that's for non-celebrities like us), is up to them. It's none of my business who Clay is dating and if he wants to make it my business, I welcome that: but it's his choice.

I missed him singing last night because I was watching Lost but hopefully it's online somewhere!!

My boyfriend and I sort of talked about this issue last night. Although the majority of his friends know about his sexuality, there are some students in his major that he's friendly with, that do not know. And when asked "Why does Facebook (it's a college student network type thing..similar to that God-awful myspace) say you're in a relationship?" He says back "ohhh well my friends put that up there..I don't have a girlfriend." To some people, it may bother them that their boyfriend has to hide his sexuality from people and deny that he has a boyfriend. But to me, I know we both love eachother tremendously and if some people in his major don't know he's gay, I don't care. I just know I'm the happiest and luckiest guy in the world to have him. His actual friends all know, so what's the difference.

When I meet someone (like when I first went to college 4 years ago) I didn't approach someone and say "Hi I'm tim from blah blah and I'm gay." I want people to get to know me as "oh Tim's the really outgoing, friendly guy," instead of "oh Tim is the gay guy." I then come out when I feel it's appropriate.

We all live our lives differently, and it's not up to us to say how one should live it (not saying anyone on here is).

All IMO, of course. :goodvibes

One of the clay fan threads has a link to the video. Probably at least on the first or second page of this board.

ENJOY!

So, how would one go about proving that they're NOT gay? I love how people "KNOW" that someone is gay, just by watching TV.

I was just thinking the same thing.

It was one thing for our friends to watch another who looked at guys, talked about guys in a certain way and then would say they weren't gay. I had two friends who did that. One even got Playboy, but only talked about the articles and jokes :teeth: We had signs with a couple friends, but that was only because of their interests in men and total lack in women.

To watch a stranger on TV or in a concert... well honestly that is stupid.

You cannot tell if you don't know them. And even then I have been surprised by guys and gals alike when they came out.

Honestly I said it doesn't matter to me if he is. To some it would matter though.

But unless he *is* living a lie, he has stated he is NOT gay!

I'd rather think he isn't lying given the type of person he seems to be. Not that I think he seems to be gay or straight, just that he seems to be an honest and givng person.

Truthfully he seems like a geeky boy to me who has grown up and is now having fun. He's very much blossomed into a nice young man.

So....how do you folks feel about marching bands? :wave2:

Seriously, no one is being malicious here -- I don't see what the fuss is about.

By making sure they are broadcasting the correct frequency to the straigh-dar instead of the gay-dar. :confused3

There was another thread similar to this one sometime back. What I learned from it is that Clay Aiken followers can be a bit rabid. ;) It's much safer to stay away from controversial Clay topics.

I'd have to do a search -- it was a long time ago.

And I'm still trying to get over the *sob* humiliation and heartbreak from being raked over the coals for 20 pages.... ( :p )

Aunt Polly - you sure did cause quite a stir... :stir: Let that be a lesson to you! :teeth:

I think it's sad that people are so adamant that Clay is gay, living a lie, and should come out of the closet already. If he's not gay, then what's a guy to do??? :confused3

I have a friend who is not the typical Man's Man, and he has been hit on by gay men, but he's completely straight. Should I just keep telling him he's gay until he gives in and outs himself??? Or can he just go about living his life as a straight man without others judging him???

BTW - Clay needs a hair cut!! IMHO of course! :teeth:

I am making a mental note... breast feeding, home schooling, SAHM, 5 in a room, refillable mugs, politics, and Clay Aiken...

Don't ask ANYTHING about any of the above ;)

Aunt Polly- you just asked a question, my friend asked me the same thing last night... no harm done :goodvibes

Kylene - I was on page 2 and you hadn't said anything yet... I got scared. ;)

Now we have to wait on Gail to contradict the Barry statement... don't let me down on this one!!! :)

Hey, I've been on vacation. Too busy to worry about whether or not anyone buys that Barry is straight...or gay. :teeth:

Not my business, I don't sleep with the man. If he is, he is - if he isn't, he isn't.

He says he isn't, and until he says otherwise, I'll just go with that. :)

And what's with the HS marching bands?? Huh?? Just got back from a WDW trip because my son's band was marching - what could be wrong with that??? ;)
