Did anyone watch Rock Star: INXS last night?

Heh, heh I thought the song choices JD sang were interesting..."you can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes, you get what you need..."

AND

"I'll give you what you need, what you need.."

Coincidence..?

Well, I still liked Mig best, and then Marty. We'll see what happens.

A lot of the singers were in their mid-30's. JD is 31. I appreciated that they didn't limit their search to the under 25 set (as AI does).

Even at 31, JD seems too young. The band is all in their mid to upper 40s, mostly upper.

And Marty's song - Don't Change - sort of reflected that he has his own style and won't change just to be in a band. He always said he would meet the band half-way.

Did you hear them ask Marty to open for them during their concert?

:cool1:

They better come to Pittsburgh, because I am so there!

Same here! :rockband::dancer:

When they announced the winner, the words out of my mouth were, "Eh, crap." :teeth: DH said, "Man, I was afraid of that." I honestly think they made a big mistake there. I guess they'll realize it soon enough. J.D. is very talented, but I truly believe Marty would have brought them into the future, while J.D. is too much like their past. Oh, well.. I'll still give them a shot. I could be wrong. :confused3:rolleyes1

Well thankfully Marty lost and JD won I think JD is going to be the best thing for INXS and all my friends that used to love their music can't wait for the next cd. Marty was not somone we cared for and don't care where his career takes him he doesn't sing music the way we like it. Mig well lets just say we may actually see him on Broadway and that wouldn't be a bad thing for him.

I know they have a "We Will Rock You" in Las Vegas at the Paris Hotel. I can see Mig headlining out there. :cool1:

Have you all checked out the INXS website today? The are promoting their Fan Club. You can join for $24.95 or $44.95, depending on which membership you choose.

I finally watched the show last night. I knew that Mig was going to be the first one to go. He just doesn't seem to fit the INXS mold.

Marty did seem sort of off, but he is still my favorite. I'm definitely going to be buying his new CD.

JD did do very well when he sang the INXS song. Like others said, just close your eyes and you hear Michael. When they showed the clip of JD first performance of the series, I gagged! I didn't remember how much like Elvis he was then. I also agree with whomever said that INXS is not ready for change since they picked JD. Marty would've brought them forward. Oh well... Probably best for Marty.

Mig is actually very successful on the London stage. We're going in June and I hope to catch one of his performances. I really like Mig. I hope he does well and ends up with a contract of his own.

I do like JD's song Pretty Vegas. I caught myself singing it all weekend. They need to release it as the first single. I don't see the album being released in November, like they said, but I could be wrong. I wonder if all they need to do is lay down the vocal tracks?

What was that movie with Mark Wahlberg?? RockStar or something like that. The guy is in a cover band for his favorite band "Dragon" and he actually gets to be their lead singer.... but after a while he wants to sing some of HIS music and basically is told, "We just want you to cover our old songs and the songs that WE write." I think this will happen to JD.... they want someone to cover Michael Hutchence's songs.... the ones the made famous YEARS ago. And they want to make new sounds that sound like their old ones... New Sensation II... I mean Easy Easy.

Marty was in fact the winner the other night. He'll be performing what he wants to.... and successful at it too!

I totally agree! Marty is new and interesting where JD is like a been there done that. It's to bad INXS didn't want to move on. I think the band would have been really good with Marty. I wanted Marty to win since the first show, but I knew if they wanted a Michael look a like that JD was going to win. As the shows went on I think it became pretty clear that was the direction that they were leaning towards. I think they made a mistake in picking JD but then again maybe it was the best thing for Marty. I think he will do great on his own.

That movie was a portrayal of the band Judas Priest actually and yes it was called RockStar.

....mean "too grunge"?? Personally, I think he is gonna make it with OR without fronting a band!

INXS was on Ellen this morning. JD sang Pretty Vegas with the band. It sounded really good. It was the only song they did.

Well, maybe they will wise up and release Pretty Vegas as their first single.

I agree that Marty will definitely make it. I went to his band's web site yesterday and downloaded some MP3 clips. The Trees demo on the site didn't sound as good as what Marty performed on Rock Star. I think it was the band, not Marty.

I didn't realize the Rock Star movie with Marky Mark was about Judas Priest and I have it on DVD. WOW!

I've heard Pretty Vegas twice on the radio already up here in Canada. It sounds great!!!

I think ROCK STAR...QUEEN....would be unreal...can imagine the caliber of talent to equal or improve on Feddy Mercury? Snoopy, I know you'd be watching that one!
JD is a puppet...head case too. INXS saw the fan potential with him, and they can't have a singer who shows up the band now can they? The guy is just so....I don't know...predictably irritating. I will give plenty of credit for Pretty Vegas, however, I am in no way convinced that he created that on his own. I believe it was from his past somehow with a former group band, whatever. If it IS solely his talent/writing...he should go that direction and leave the "acting" on stage for Hollywood.

Don't know if anyone is still reading this thread -- but I was flying SOuthwest to Orlando last Friday and there was an ad for "We Will Rock You" from Vegas ... and Ty was in the picture!!! Was this tidbit of information known? I don't remember it being stated on Rockstar:INXS, just that Ty was performing in Vegas????
