Did anyone watch Dr. Phil today?

I actually have DVR but have NO clue how to work it...my stupid ignorance...one day I am sure one day....

I wish Dr. Phil was on later in the day so I can see it when I get home. It is on usually at 10pm here in MA but I am going to bed....ugh ugh ugh....

Was anybody else shocked that the dad didn't get a little more angry at the mom? I wonder if that is a sign that he did have a little bit more knowledge of the situation than he was admitting to. I was really expecting him to get angry and tell her to get out of his house until she got help. I guess that made it a little less shocking that he also kicked the kids with a steel toe boot.

Ok here are the details I remember, some of the info was brought out during the show, some of it before the show:

She has 5 kids; and apparently all of them were "accidents". She's married to the father of the youngest, who is 7 months old. Her oldest is a boy, aged 10, who gets the brunt of the mother's anger. Then there's a 9 year old girl, and 3 year old twins (a boy and a girl).

She's only been married to her husband for maybe less than 3 years, I don't remember exactly how long, but it wasn't very long, and he's only the father of the baby.

Apparently she was adopted and abused (maybe sexually abused, I don't remember specifically), as a child. She's now a stay at home mom. The "dad" seems like a dope. He claims he had no idea how bad she treated the kids. I tend to believe him a little because the wife said she was worried about what the husband would say once he saw the video. The husband saw the video for the first time right there on the show. He said he was surprised, but did not show any surprise in a physical way. I am not the type to tear up or cry at the drop of a hat, but what I saw on that video had me crying. I was surprised that the husband wasn't a little more "moved" by what he'd just seen.

It was brought out during the show that the husband "disciplines" the kids too, not just the mother, although the mother is far, far worse than the husband. He apparently has hit them with a stick that they keep up high on a shelf, and has kicked them "in the butt". He sees nothing wrong with any of what he's done because he claims he was raised that way and he turned out "ok".

The mother and husband actually didn't have a real lot to say during the show; the father just said a few things when Dr. Phil would ask him point-blank questions, and the mother basically sat there crying and not saying too much.

SHE wrote to Dr. Phil asking to have cameras placed in her home because she wants help.

I'm watching it now and I am about to throw up. I want to go get those kids. If that's what happens with the cameras on, what happens off????

Edited to add....I'm going home and just hugging my kids tonight and I don't care if the chores get done and I don't care if they stay up too late. They are my world and I can't imagine feeling the way that mothers feels about her kids. I am a very, very lucky mom.

My jaw dropped watching this. I wish I could have grabbed those kids out of the TV set! That poor boy. That mom needs some serious serious help. I hope they take the kids away from her. As a teacher, I couldn't believe all of this was happening right before the kids went to school. HOW could they possibly function!? I pray they had kind teachers to greet them and hug them at the door. Absolutely broke my heart. Yes, she needs help., but some time behind bars first may not be a bad idea, either!

I just watched this and she denied that she was abused as a child. Dr. Phil was asking her "if" she was abused and she said no. She had no idea why she was doing this. That is even scarier.

I just watched it....

I am far from a wimp and it made me cry.

That boy was terrified and that horrible woman ABUSED him. What she did OFF camera was even worse.

I grabbed my son and hugged him afterwards. How could anyone treat their own child that way? Words can't describe what that film did to me.

Five children? I worked till I was almost 40 to have my ONE. I wish someone would whip HER like she did that child.

And her WIMP of a husband. NO ONE who gives a darn about his children would just sit there like a dope while watching that woman run rampant over those kids.

I'm MORE than disgusted... I want something DONE.

Phil just said that they were originally scheduled for two weeks from now, but after he saw the tape he said he wanted them here NOW.

Mom still crying, Dad saying now he sees how bad it is, he didn't know before he saw the tapes. Blech.

I think he knew. He sure didn't look surprised at all. Then the fact that he hits the kids with a stick (which the children mentioned repeatedly) and kicks them with his steel toe boots. He's just as bad as she is.

The mom just seemed really self centered. Like the kids were just in her way and bothering her. When Dr. Phil asked her "what do you think your son is thinking when he is at school after you have done this to him?" Her answer was "He probably is thinking that he hates me." I just thought that was so selfish. She wasn't worried about how it makes him feel about himself, just how it makes him feel about her. SICK !

I just don't think that she is "out of control" though. I think she is totally in control. Did you see how she pulled it together when her friend called?
