Did anyone use the "fine" china yesterday

Yes, we used our fine china, crystal and silver, as we do every Thanksgiving. One of my favorite parts of the holiday is setting a nice table.

We didn't register for fine china. We instead registered for 12 place settings of Sango Splash. I have tons of serving pieces and accessories that I've collected over the years including olive oil cruets and french onion soup bowls. I set the Thanksgiving table with it and other autumn hued table linens and it looked so festive. We use white Corelle dishes as everyday dishes.

A few years ago I started collecting 12 place settings of Noble Excellence 12 Days of Christmas dishes. At Christmas gift exchange parties it's fun to use the number on the dishes for the gift exchange order. It's also very elegant to use for Christmas dinner.

We don't own any. And I honestly don't "get" it, anyway.

Now I am looking at dinnerware for Cyber Monday...thanks DIS.

Seriously though, I am ready to chuck my old stuff and on the hunt for new place settings.

I do have "china" that was dh's grandmother's. We have never used it. I am going to go and look at it.

I would LOVE to get those "12 days of Christmas" patterns at Williams Sonoma.

I didn't. We didn't register for china because we thought we were going to inherit a set from DH's great-grandmother, but then his parents sold it on EBay. They didn't need money; they are very rich and have no concept of things having sentimental value. DH was so sad; if we'd known they were going to do it we would have bid on it and tried to buy it but of course they didn't tell us until they were shipping it off to the winning bidder.

We must have the same parents. Only mine sold all their good silver. They had tons of it. Didn't need the money and knew that some of their kids would have liked to have it one day. Didn't even offer to sell it to one of them. Oh well.

We use our china and silver all the time. It is too valuable and takes up too much space not to bring it out often. We use it a least a few times a month.
