I just caught the tail end of it but she was interviewing parents whose son was killed in Iraq.

They said they stood behind our pres. and hoped that we can stay there to finish it up.

It just occured to me that so many parents (who have sons that are in Iraq or have been killed) are standing with our pres. and think he did the right thing. Why can't we all stand with our president?

I am so sick and tired of hearing that the Pres. was wrong, he is a liar, and the whole WMD thing, or he was finishing it for his father..and blah blah blah.

As horrific as it is war happens. The men and women know that there is the risk of going to war when they enlist.

We have replaced a dictator that would have had to be removed sooner or later. I know that the Iraqi people are much happier that it happened sooner.

Please make a stand to support our troops, their family members, and our President and know that this was indeed the right decision.

Psalm 33:12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD

But not all believe we should be in Iraq. Some believe we should have finished what was started in Afganistan. Some believe the President has made things worse for the US.

Stand behind our troops...of course I do. (in fact my Dad is a Vietnam veteran and my Grandfathers served in the Army Air Force during WWII).

BUT here are 1000 reasons not to stand behind President Bush.

http://www.thousandreasons.org/listC.html

We all live in a democracy and our greatest right is the freedom to stand behind whomever we please when it comes to our elected officials. As citizens it is also our job to question their authority and decision making - whether they are a democrat or republican.

The reason we can't all stand with our president is b/c he is wrong.

I absolutely support our troops -- they are doing the jobs they have been trained for and assigned to. I, however, do not support us being in Iraq.

Certainly Saddam was a bad guy. Are you saying we're supposed to go take out all the bad guys? Are we also supposed to support our president if he, Chaney, Rumsfeld et al. decide we should invade North Korea? Not only do they have a bad guy, but he really has weapons of mass destruction. How about Cuba -- Castro's a bad guy, isn't he?

BTW, although I'll admit to being a dove, I undertstood what we were doing in Afghanistan.

I'm sorry you're sick and tired of hearing about Bush's transgressions. Criticizing our leaders is one of the things we get to do in this country.

I am the wife of a Vietnam veteran. He is disabled from his service there. He and I both stand fully 100% behind the young men and women in harms way in Iraq. BUT we don't believe America has any business there and that in fact it makes our country MUCH less safe.

Well said tar heel. ::yes:: I agree with each and every word of your post.

I stand behind President Bush and I think he is doing the right thing in Iraq. Although I haven't sent a son to Iraq I have paid a price in this war that was incredibly painful and I still support the President.

One of the Post I started was what did military men, women, and their families believe to be the best choice for the president. Not surprisingly it was Bush. Even with the present war in Iraq they still supported him. I give those people alot of credit since they are the ones risking their lives everyday. If they still support our President then that says alot. That is one group of people who in my view have the most at stake. Their lives. I will also support our President.

Gee...Their son was just KIA...I wonder why they have to tell themselves that their child gave his life for a REASON ? Might it have something to do with the fact that the idea of them dying for Shrub's private little vendetta and misguided ideals would be too terrible to bear ?

You're right about one thing, though...SUPPORT OUR TROOPS...BRING THEM HOME !!!

Yes. Those that voluntarily enlist should be aware and accept that war can happen and they might be put in the line of fire. Part of military training is to instill unquestioned obedience, single-minded loyalty – and yes – blind faith in your country and your chain of command, so it does not surprise me that so many military men and women, as well as their families, support Bush.

However, it is the duty of every American citizen to make sure the obedience and loyalty of our Armed Forces is used properly and not abused. Civilians are the ones that can – and should – ask the questions, have a broader focus and not fall into blind anything. Just as the military protects the US, so should the US protect it's military. I still fail to understand how this viewpoint is seen as being unpatriotic and not supporting our troops.

Why can't we all stand with our president?

Just out of curiosity…where were you standing when Pres. Clinton was under the gun?

A little off the subject. I am not in favor of our military men and women fighting a war in Iraq or anywhere else in the world. But ,isn't this what democracy and freedom is about. Iraq was a threat to this country. Just because Biological or nuclear weapons were not found this does not mean they were not there or could still be there. (This is a large hostile country) Even if none are ever found I still believe the mission of this war was justifed. We got rid of a less then human dictator. What I do feel good about is ,a man and wife at my local grocery store lived in Iraq and are very glad Saddam is gone. What they lived through with this dictator no human being should have to do. They thank god and the U.S. everyday. Their children are still living there. Things are not perfect they say but they do see hope on the horizon. So for whatever reasons people judge our president for going into this war, oil, old score to settle,ect... there is a country who has rid themselves of a evil evil man. I thank the military men and women for doing their duty to keep this country safe. These great men and women new the risks when they enlisted. I will continue to support President Bush and hope for 4 more years!!

they don't have to tell themselves anything..

why is it that just because they don't see things your way they must be wrong or not thinking clearly..

have you seen the news footage of the military leaders testifying before congress, leaders who have been in Iraq,

they can't stand to watch the news since they've returned because the news footage is inaccurate, they said the news would lead you to believe that 90% of Iraqis are against us, when their experience has been just the opposite..90-95% are thankful and want us there....

So, because you "believe" that Iraq was a threat, that's supposed to justify the 1000+ lives that have now been lost in invading ?

Here's a question...if I "believed", with no real proof, that my neighbor was a threat to my household, would I also be justified in attacking him the next time I saw him ? Or would I - rightly - be locked up as a loon if I kept ranting about his invisible WMD's and his constituting a WMD just by being who he was ?

Pretend all you want, it doesn't change the FACTS. Iraq was about as much threat to this country as a mosquito is to an elephant.

BS...We don't even control the whole country, so to say that "90-95% are thankful and want us there" is nothing but a flat out lie.

it was the military that had Clinton under the gun, many soldiers spoke openly of their disrespect for him, so the argument you make of the unquestioned obedience, single-minded loyalty ,

does not work...

So if your neighbor beats his family, tortures his animals, tells the neighborhood what they can and cannot do, would I try to do something to possible stop him? Let me think HUM????? YA! Human kindness and common sense tells me I should do something. I would apply that same thought to the Iraq war.

But to do it INSTEAD of dealing with a real crisis in your own house and to put so much of your own household's net worth toward dealing with someone else's household seems foolish even stupid to me.
