Sigh. I used to go to that show every year with a friend and then she moved to NH a couple years back. :( The first one of its kind that I went to was in Woburn, MA in a local hotel and I was pregnant with my now almost-16 year old son. It was so much fun as they had a lot of companies from CA that I had only seen in magazines and catalogs. This was back in 1994 and internet groups were just starting out and there weren't message boards like this one. I remember almost hyper-ventilating when I walked in the room and saw all the cool stuff in person! :thumbsup2

The Springfield show was always a lot of fun but as the years went on there were fewer and fewer vendors and people - the last time I went it was actually sad. I miss the old days! There was a company called Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers and they were famous for their "rubber pit". They literally dumped mounds and mounds of un-mounted dies on the floor and you could sit around with like-minded folks and search for images you wanted. After a while we wised up and brought small mirrors so we could tell what the images were. ;)

Tim Holtz went to several of those shows and also Suze Weinberg - two very talented people who work for Ranger. (If you like reading interesting craft blogs then check out both Tim's & Suze's - and Suze is fun to read about all her various crafty adventures - I like the way she writes. Both folks are also on Facebook if you are into that)

I have collected quite a few rubber stamps that I don't do much with these days but hope to dabble in it again some day. I loved going to the shows to see what others had done with the stamps.

There was also a show in RI at the Community College for a few years but then they moved it to Hartford, CT. :(

Anyhow...just wondering if anyone went and what they thought of it..

Jill ...who needs to go look longingly at her rubber stamps now....

I did not go but have been in the past. And I always went to the one at ccri all the time. But it has been many years since Ive been to either.
I remember the rubber pit!
Thanks for that memory.

Lovingthemouse, MomE, dlbwright, and I went on Sunday. I was a little worry when the first vendor I went to I spent money and bought three library tag books. From there out, I didn't buy anything else. The cards displayed were gorgeous, half way thru, I felt I was waay out of my element, the cards were works of art. MomE observed some of the demonstrations. If you are a card maker, this is something of worth to see.

There were not as many vendors as the Hierloom website on led on, and we weren't really impressed with the prices. dlbwright only bought a hot dog and french fries for her kids.

Lovingthemouse, MomE, and I went to the Haufbruhaus for lunch. My jager schnitzel was yummy.

SO glad you gals had fun! MAybe the one in October will be bigger?

Oh Linda, for you we would go again!!!!!! Say, wasn't going to that show last weekend your idea? We missed you but I was Linda, at least handing my ticket in I was.

It's not the show, per se, that's important. We all probably have enough stuff. It's that a show, crop or something similar, provides the opportunity for another Disfriends meet!

The internet has "ruined" a lot of the shows like that rubber stamp one - now you can get just about everything on-line but before you either had to have a good local store or get things at the show. It was always great to see the CA companies (Museum of Modern Rubber anyone??) as the stores didn't stock their items. And a couple of shows even had Viva Las Vegas Stamps. It was fun while it lasted.

Hey, Jill, I see you are going to be at WDW when we are there for the SDV scrapbooking crop. Plan on stopping by to say hi!!:)

Thanks Lisa - I just might! :)

We were there another August when the show was going on over at the YC and the kids & I went in just to look - crazy!! All those decorated tables and scrap bookers - wow! :) This year we are at the Wilderness Lodge Villas so I would have to see how it fits in the schedule - where is it being held?
