Hey All ,

I hope I'm not being stupid

I turn the BIG 30 on Wednesday and I gotta say , I'm really upset about it. Birthdays have never bothered me in the past , I don't know why this one is killing me....

Any thoughts , stories or words of wisdom ??? :littleangel:

Be glad you turned 30, some don't even make it that long. Are you healthy, and do you have a job? Be even more thankful! Some people are ill and some are unemployed NOT by choice.........30 is :worship:time to grow up and be thankful!

I think 30 bothered me more than 40. It seems that you can still get away with childish or stupid behavior in your twenties but by thirty - you should have you act together. So yeah, I understand but you'll get over the feeling a day or two after your birthday. Have a wonderful day!

I was a bit like "oh my god! I am turning 30!!!" But, I remedied that by going to Disneyland with a girlfriend of mine (we left the men behind) and celebrated there. It seriously took the sting out of it for me! I got a twinge of "wow, maybe I am old" when a CM offered to get me a new birthday pin because my name had worn off a bit on mine and he commented on the nerve of a the CM who gave me the first pin for putting my age on it. Like I should have been embarrassed to be running around with "30" on my pin!

Do something fun, realize life brings us amazing experiences as we get older, and be thankful for more Disney days on this beautiful Earth! :goodvibes

You are very right , it is easy to forget about all those poor souls that don't even make it to 30.

Yes! I turned 30 last November 30th and I cried and cried and cried. I think what made it worse was that I was supposed to be in WDW for my birthday but the trip was cancelled due to financial reasons. I was feeling sorry for myself because I don't have kids. I snapped out of it though. I'm sure you will too. Happy 30th!

I don't have kids either. I think that's what might be bothering me so much. I'm turning 30 , I'm not married yet and I don't have kids yet :sad2:

I think I need a drink...:lmao:

I made it through the big 3-0, 4-0, and 5-0.

What I found was the day before the "big one" isn't very much different from the day after.

If it causes you time for reflection, that is great.

Some people dread birthdays in general. My mother always said "another birthday is good, considering the alternative". She just died, two months shy of her 77 birthday.

Here's wishing you an early :bday:

It's those 00000000000's! Thirty was tuff for me as it approached, but the women I worked with did a first rate job decorating my office with all things black. Signs were everywhere, and they even hung a black wreath on the front gates of the property where our office was. EVERYBODY who came in the office asked whose birthday it was so I ended up laughing all day cause they made such a big deal about it.

Forty was hard. I had just gotten married for the first time, and I had baby fever really bad, but knew having a baby at my age and in my not great physical health was a BAD idea. So, I white knuckled through it and the baby fever passed.

Fifty was again saved by dear co-workers who threw me a lovely surprise tea party with all things pink (see my name?)! It was fabulous! I had such a good time.

Now, I'm about to turn 51 on Wednesday (so happy birthday to both of us!!). I love being older, cause I now feel like I can say what I want most of the time - I've lived long enough that I've earned it. I play the 'crone' role well. My advice, try to get comfortable with where you are in life, age and all. Every day really is a gift, and if you do have your health, you are lucky indeed. I would give much to go an hour without pain. However, I wouldn't give up my intellect for it, so if you're able to think and dream, that's enough, no matter what your age. And the good thing is, every year brings more knowledge. You won't believe how much more you know by the time you're my age! :rotfl:

Yes. And again when I turned 40...once again at 50...and the big 6-0 is coming up this December. I wasn't depressed on my 20th though! ;) I think it partly has to do with the whole decade thing. My mom's going to be 80 this year and she's pretty darn happy about it so I guess I shouldn't complain.

I was fine with 30...and 40! (I'm 42) I had wine with both though :lmao: I'm thinking 50 may be rough even with wine....my DH had a really hard time with 55 this past Sunday :sad2: I still say it's better than the alternative;) Happy Birthday! :goodvibes

At 30 I had the same job I currently have, 2 kids and a nice house. Didn't bother me at all. As I close in on 40 it seems "old", but I think keeping in shape and active will help. Aches and Pains linger a lot longer now, but life is wonderful.

Thanks for all your replies guys :grouphug:

Now more than ever , I truly am happy to be alive and healthy :goodvibes

Happy Birthday JenniBug in Pink :cake:

30 didn't bother me, but I was dreading 40. I didn't want a stupid "Over the hill" party, which I have a feelings was in the works, so about 3 weeks before the big 4-0 I found great airfare and booked a trip to Disney. I took my six year old niece (I don't have kids either) and we had a blast. I didn't really do anything special on "the day" I just made sure to be in the Magic Kingdom and I wore a birthday button. It got me alot of good wishes and a cupcake and Mickey confetti at The Plaza restaurant. Once I got through the actual birthday day I was fine. I plan on being at Disney for 5-0 too. :teeth:

I don't really have anything to add except that I'll be turning 30 on Thursday!!! Happy Birthday!
