Just got back from Orlando yesterday. One thing I noticed when I got to my Hotel is that the water had a very distinct smell. I stayed right around the Old Town Kissimmee area. At first I thought it was our room water, but I noticed the same funky smell in Disney and in the restaurants around the Kissimme area. I dont know if it was just me and my Fiancee who noticed it,or anyone else.

I don't remember a smell when we were last there (in Dec. 2000), but I didn't like the taste of the water. We brought a Brita filter pitcher for the condo we rented, and carried individual Brita filter water bottles to the park. That made the water taste "natural" to us.

Yes, we stayed at the Poly in January and noticed right away in the Poly's bathroom a funky smell and then again that smell around all the water fountains in WDW. I wouldn't drink the water from there.

I believe its the chlorine....it is pretty heavy down there.

It's a peaty/earthy smell/taste because the water flows through swampy areas. Remember the entire area was marsh land before it became the best place on Earth!

its a kind of sulphur/earthy smell. We used to hate it but now it just means were "home"! so we love it!

Haha, welcome to Florida! :drinking1

If I went to where YOU lived, I would think the water tasted funny too! ;)

It is perfectly safe, I drink it all the time straight from the tap and I am still alive!

We noticed the smell during our first vacation back in 1989 and now it sounds funny but it's just another reminder that we're on vacation. To me it's like what you smell after you blow out a match. It's a sulphur smell.

it's the sulphur and it was gross. I didn't notice it at disneyworld itself last time but I did this time. Just got back Saturday and had a blast!!!

We stayed at the Grande Vista and I swear I thought it was just me. The water would dry my skin out. I had to limit my shower times because it would hurt. It was really bad. I don't know what we are going to do this time. The smell is horrible. I remember passing a water treatment plant(It's on the same street as a Wal-Mart) and we smelled the facility before we actually SAW the facility!! I am an avid drinker of bottled water...ESPECIALLY in Florida.
