Did Anyone Else Grab a Motorola Droid X Yesterday?

I was so bummed out back in June when I was unable to order the iPhone 4 because of the pounding Apple's website was taking. My DW suggested that I just stick with Verizon so I didn't grab an iPhone 4 even after the launch day glitches were worked out. And boy am I glad I listened to her.

Yesterday I ordered the new Motorola Droid X which I believe is the "iPhone 4" for us Verizon folks. Did anyone else manage to grab one before they ran out? I ordered mine online and it will be delivered today.

So that's what all the hoopla was about...I work in a lifestyle center with a Verizon store & there were about 25 people camped out there - and this was an hour before the store opened!

LUCKY YOU!! I went to our local store yesterday at lunchtime, SLAMMED!! They were so busy I didn't even get to put my name on the list. I heard a woman say they got 60 phones, opened at 8am and was sold out by 10a. Sooo, I ordered one online, had my order in by 1:30, free overnight shipping, still hasn't shipped yet!! I am sooo upset, I was hoping to have it by the weekend.

DH and I went to the Verizon store today. He has been due for an upgrade for a long time. He has an old Motorola Razr flip phone, and it takes him FOREVER to text.

He ended up getting the Motorola Droid X. They had to order it for him, so he should have it about the middle of next week.

Just got off the phone with Verizon CS - if we are lucky we might have our X shipped on July 23rd, next friday. If we're not lucky it won't ship until 7/27, which means I will be cancelling the order since I won't be home to recieve it!! I just don't understand why they aren't more prepared for something like this, the CS rep was telling me that there are people that ordered the HTC Incrediable back in June that are still waiting and will have to continue to wait into August!!

--Oh one more thing, she also was telling about a gentlemen who ordered his X at 3:25AM yesterday morning, he still isn't getting one today!!

Mine was delivered around 2:30 PM EST. I've been playing with it for almost 2 hours!! It's just an awesome phone! Once you get yours you won't be able to put it down!

Yea there was a huge response for this phone. I live in a small town so our Verizon store only got 2 but I never even tried getting one there because I knew 30 people would be fighting in the gauntlet for those 2.

Ouch, that sucks. I didn't order mine till 2:30 PM EST yesterday. Didn't get the shipping confirmation and tracking number till about 11:45 PM EST last night so I was sweating it the whole day.

He'll love it. Especially if he's upgrading from a RAZR. I had a RAZR for years before upgrading to a BlackBerry so I could text faster.

I had originally looked at the HTC Incredible but didn't want to wait till late August to get one. That sucks that you couldn't get in before they ran out. When I was researching whether or not people who ordered around the time I did were getting their shipping information I was reading comments from people who also ordered real early yesterday morning and weren't going to get them till next week. I think it all had to do with order verification, credit approval, and things like that. My order was processed almost instantly and was in the shipping que before 3:00 PM EST. So that may be why I was lucky enough to get one.

I ordered the Incredible back in June and am still waiting. I thought about getting the X instead but went to the store to check it out and thought it was way too big. So, still waiting for the Incredible. Hopefully I will have it by the end of next week.

DH wants me to pass along this info for others who have this phone. He said to make sure you download the advanced task killer. It's a free app in the marketplace on the phone. He said it's a must to have. don't ask me, I have no idea what he's talking about I have the Envy 2 and I'm content with that!

a friend of mine got one the day it came out, she was replacing a blackberry storm (her 4th one, she just couldn't seem to get one that worked right) and she said she LOOOOVES the droid x!

I got mine on release day and I LOVE IT! It is this coolest phone I have ever had. It's fast, the screen is big enough my poor eyes can see it, it!

Hubby got one the day they came out. Got to the store 10 minutes before they were "supposed" to open but they had opened early. It was pretty busy in there but he did get one and he LOVES it!

I ordered the HTC Incredible on June 25 and am still waiting. Just got shipping confirmation and should get it by Wednesday. Better be a REALLY good phone for that kind of wait!

The Advanced Task Killer will "kill" any tasks you have running. When you exit out of a program it doesn't always close completely. Just runs in the background burning up your battery. You just push the ATK widget and it gives you a list of everything running and you can choose which ones to kill or just kill them all. It will make a BIG difference in your battery life. Salesperson installed it on hubby's Droid X before he let him leave the store.

She was at the store at 6:45 for an 8 opening and got number 20 out of 40 they had.

Haven't heard back yet what she thinks about it. She was sure happy to get one though

YAY!! Got shipping notification this morning, so I should have my X in hand sometime tomorrow. However, now the question is do I let DH have it and take his Droid that I got him in April or keep it for myself!!?

I've been following the recent iPhone 4 antenna issue closely the last few days and I can only say one thing, I'M GLAD I DIDN'T GET ONE!!

I know some of you probably got the iPhone 4 and probably aren't experiencing any of the issues. But as Murphy's Law suggests if anything can happen, it WILL happen. And most likely it would happen to me!

I've had my Droid X almost a week now and can safely say this is the best phone purchase I have ever made. And this comes from someone who has previously owned the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS, a multitude of BlackBerry phones, and the Motorola Droid.

I hope everyone who is stuck in the "awaiting shipment" category gets their Droid X as soon as possible so they can experience a phone that is literally one of the best smart phones on the market today.
