I got this email from Disney Destinations this morning, hopefully they are telling the truth and it was only email addresses that were exposed.

Yes, just received it this morning. I agree hopefully it just our email addresses that were breached. But its good to see that Disney was upfront with letting us know about the breach.

If your on a PC (Windows) just make sure that your virus software is up todate and avoid emails that contain attachments from strangers...

I haven't, yet. I did see on the big community board these have been sent out. I heard on the radio friday over half million sites were hacked, that day.

yes, i received it as well.. i also received one from a retailer that I receive sales alerts from.. it seems to me that lots of big business's may have been hacked into last week..

No. But it was decent that they told you considering other companies have had peoples credit card numbers, and real personal information stolen and sat on they information for as long as possible. An email address isn't really a big deal. Spam on the internet is like flies at a summer picnic. It happens. If you are truly worried use a dummy email when contacting disney or another company. I have one i use just for disney, one for family, my private email, a generic for companies, and one for places I do business with (water, electric, bank etc).

Mine just came a few minutes ago, just AFTER I read this post. :)

I think we should all get a free trip for having suffered through this.

I agree, but all I need are more emails telling me how to make my, umm, you know what bigger. :rotfl2:

I got it too. (Guest Services says that "Millions" of people are effected).

I got this email from Diseny and from the Collegeboards. Looks like Disney wasn't the only company to get hit.

I did NOT get that e-mail & guess what, I already got an e-mail from the hackers! Yeah, lucky me. The problem with this is now they know the e-mail addresses & will send out spam (ie: trojans, virus, malware) to you & because it looks like it's from Disney Destinations, you open it & you get to take computer in ONCE AGAIN to have it fixed by a techie. So I'm going to unsubscribe to the e-mails & if I receive anything just delete it. Hopefully they won't use my e-mail address to send things to those on my contact list! (similar thing happened last year, some people got letters that their credit card numbers had been stolen, if you didn't get the letter you were safe. WRONG Mine had already been used. Do I have 'sucker' written on my forehead?)

I haven't been on the camping boards in awhile. I read this post and decided to check my emails..... Sure enough, I got it too! Hopefully nothing will come of it. I never open emails that I don't recognized the sender. Just as a precaution I updated my norton virus protection.

I got an email from Amazon yesterday saying I ordered a kindle product that I didn't order. I checked my account to be sure that I was correct and then I copied the email and sent it to Amazon tech support.

I'm thinking that Amazon is also numbered among the companies whose emails were breached.

I received the Did Des email, too.
