Did anyone buy DVC sight unseen?

We are making our decisions about buying into DVC and thinking we will buy points at both SSR and either BCV or BWV. Like the option of the standard-view lower points rooms at BWV, but we've never stayed there. We stayed at BCV a few weeks ago and walked around the boardwalk, but that's as close as we've gotten. I know the rooms are similar, however, and we like the Epcot/MGM location.

Would it be stupid to buy points at a resort we haven't really seen? We've stayed at BCV and toured SSR, but that's it. I mean surely we wouldn't be unhappy with this decision? It is the Disney magic, afterall...isn't it?

Did anyone else buy at a resort they hadn't stayed at? How do you feel about your purchase now?

We bought at OKW, and never even did the tour....it was the only property DVC had at the time....Boardwalk was still under construction....

We were leaving Disney, and picked up a brochure....when we got home we called and spoke w/ a guide....WOW!!! The next thing you know we had purchased 170 points....SIGHT UNSEEN>>>>>>>

We know have over 500 points w/ add ons etc....
My only regret.......I wish I would of bought more back when I first bought OKW!!!

We love all of the resorts!!!
You will not regret buying into DVC!

We purchased DVC sight unseen! On our first trip to WDW we avoided the DVC booths like they had the plague attached to them!

After we got home I ordered the DVD and we knew that DVC was for us (a family of 6). So we purchased SSR sight unseen in 2004 and have since done two add-ons also.

We didn't do any tours or stay at DVC before buying in. We had visited the Boardwalk area on a few prior trips. We decided to buy at BWV because we really enjoyed that area. It's one of the best/luckiest desicions we ever made. We probably stayed there about 6 times so far and each trip home was fantastic. We loved staying at BCV too.

You really can't go wrong with any of the DVC resorts. But, then again, we're Disney World addicts.

we bought BWV sight unseen in 2002 and added on in 2003. Best thing we ever did.

We bought OKW sight unseen in August 2000 (BWV was the only other on-site option at that point). We have been very happy.

Avoided the booths, although come to think of it I only remember really only 1 at the MK. Kept telling hubby don't even think about it, can't afford it, yada, yada. Came home, called, got a GREAT guide (who has since moved up the corporate ladder at Disney), NEVER pressured (I think that's what did it for me). Before my husband knew it, he was signing on the dotted line for 270 points at OKW (that's all there was back then, but I don't regret that one bit!). Did everything by phone and mail; way, way, way back in 1993. Got free park passes until 2000 (worth their weight in gold since our kids were little then!) We haven't regretted our decision once!

We bought site unseen over the phone! Family had already bought and we felt we had been on property so often through the years there were no worries. Our first trip we had a ball going from resort to resort checking each one out!

We bought at BWV sight unseen in 1998. We had looked at OKW several years earlier, but didn't buy then because we thought we couldn't afford it. We have no regrets at all. BWV is the best for us whenever we go to DW because of the feel of the place and the great location. Our favorite now, though is VB, and we go there more often than BWV.

When we bought our OKW points in 1997, we had never seen the resort. In fact, we had never seen WDW!

Our granddaughter was 3 at the time, and granddaughter #2 was on the way. We're almost all Disney fanatics, and I knew we'd be back a lot. So I did a lot of research and when I compared how much a single trip with the group would cost to an OKW resale, I decided to take the plunge.

We also bought site unseen! Purchased 150 at SSR last year. Went to BWV in Sept and going back this Dec- probably to SSR this time. Can't wait to get this paid off and buy more!

We bought sight unseen over the phone at BCV. It was the best decision we ever could have made.

DH did. I'd gone on the tour on a solo trip, just to see what this DVC thing was. When I got home, he was the one who watched the video and encouraged us to buy. I was more reluctant, I was interested, but DH is such a workaholic, I was afraid we wouldn't use it that much. On our first trip home, I was so nervous since I'd seen it but he hadn't.

We had never even been to FL when we purchased our 160 points at D'land (SSR) this past August. We still hadn't been there when we did our add-on 1 month later. Call us crazy!

We did, twice. We had stayed at the WL and knew we liked the resort, but we never saw the inside of VWL or did a DVC tour before buying there (I think Beach Club was the new one being sold when we bought at VWL). We then bought a 100 point add-on at Saratoga before it was even built.

Yes, we bought OKW in 95 without a tour or visiting the location.

We bought BWV as soon as it opened.
