My family and I were on a package holiday from the UK for two weeks over Christmas and New Year (Caribbean Beach resort) 1999 - so we were there for the actuall 1999/2000 NYE.

We were all given a wonderful gift of Mickey Mouse, cut by laser in glass and made by Arribas Brothers. It was in a large wooden box and had gloves to touch it. All very lovely.

We have not been able to find out any information on how many of these were made and distributed, does anybody know?

Thanks

We were at WDW for the Millennium and got one of the glass thingies.

I think I was told there was one for every booking at a Disney resort, so I guess there will be a few thousand of them knocking about.

knowing disney might be limited to 1,000,000:rotfl2:
disneyhas an inventory of over 21,000 on-property rooms plus dvc and campgrounds
So lets say around 25,000 rooms, and if all were ocupied they would have given out 25,000 if one per room

but then again rooms have been added since 2000 so would say in the reagion of 20,000-22,000

sounds lovely - any pictures?

Have a look here: http://www.kevinstringer.co.uk/millennium trip/day3.htm

Here's where writing trip reports comes into its own because I just read some information I had forgotten.
It seems you had to be staying at WDW on the Millennium Package to get one of the glass thingies and they only made 4,500.

kev what did the package include, was`nt a normal room booking as there would have been the 20,000+ i mentioned

I can't remember all the details Paul. I think you had to stay for a minimum period of time (including New Year's Eve, obviously).
I was told that there were only 4,500 Millennium gifts produced.

Hi

Will get my sis to take a picture as she has it. We have some American friends who were also staying that time and they didn't qualify for one.

We stayed Christmas and New Year for 16 nights and it was great, although very crowded most of the time. If I remember rightly we put our names on a waiting list 18 months before with Virgin. We spent New Years Eve in Epcot from 7am until 1am - it then took 3 hours to get back to CBR by disney bus. All resorts gave their guests free newspapers - one on 31 Dec 1999 and one on 1 Jan 2000 so we still have these as well.

Oh the memories.

We were there too (at All Star Movies) and got that gift. We got back from Epcot so quickly that night AND we even took a mid afternoon break! Do you remember the torches in the rooms and the castmembers guiding you back in case the Millenium Bug hit?!

I'd forgotten about the torches! It took us ages to get back to the room as we were right over by Italy watching the fireworks and by the time we'd drank champagne it was 1am. It is a memory I'll never forget as it was just a fantastic day. I remember the cast members giving us bottles of water and little boxes of cookies to take to the park with us. Disney really do think of everything, wish I was there now!

Ok that's my day wasted, never realised the Stringers had a website before...!
