Did anybody else actually have a "good" Christmas?

We had a FABULOUS Christmas this year! For which I am very grateful, as there have been many years where it was...less than pleasant.

I think I had the best Christmas in my life! DH and I took the kids to California to spend time with out families. We hadn't been back in a year, so we really missed our family. I cried like a baby when we left their house yesterday.

To anyone who had a bad Christmas, :grouphug:I hope things improve soon for you. I'm so sorry to see people going through a rough time.

Me!!! I always have a fantastic Christmas. My family is amazing and I love being with them. I have as much fun buying presents as I do receiving them and I think I could get a bag of plastic grocery bags and I'd be happy. The only thing I wish for was that more of my family could have been there, but we talked to all of them and I can't wait until next year :goodvibes

 This part made me laugh. My SIL gave us our gifts in those reuseable cloth grocery bags this year. I thought it was just a great idea. She had one sack for each person. And it helped that her gifts this year didn't suck. (She has come up with some doozies, including ginsu knives and bamboo steamers.)

We had a nice quiet Christmas. We always have a low country boil on Christmas eve and attend the candlelight communion service. This year it was just us and DD16 & DS14. Christian doesn't really *get* Christmas, so he mostly helped Dad pull all the tissue paper out of the gifts.:goodvibes Christian got several toys this year which he has just LOVED> Unusual, because he's usually standoffish with new things. We just enjoyed laying around in jammies watching TV. I did get dressed before dinner.:goodvibes

Then last night DD16 hosted a small sleep-over with her BFFs. I found them all flaked out in the living room under the Christmas tree this morning. Favorite pizza joint for lunch. Now watching HGTV and chillin'. No fighting, no racing to inlaws, no enduring football, belligerant alcoholics or unruly pets. Just a nice slice of heaven with our kids.

We had a wonderful C’mas! Love this time of year as our holiday usually continues till New Year with the comings and goings of family and friends gatherings. :goodvibes

We hosted our annual family C’mas eve party which was really nice, lots of yummy food, giggles of sweet grands playing w/their gifts, music of the season, thoughtful gifts as our kids totally spoiled the ole’ fokes and we had a great time enjoying the spirit of the evening making special memories. DD/SIL and family were able to travel up to join us 3 days, then DIL (wife of DS in AFG) and 4 grands are due in tonight to spend the week. :goodvibes

Mainly, the children and I are truly counting our blessings that our prayers were answered concerning DH. After months of serious health problems, thankfully he finally has proper diagnosis and will have surgery this spring with complete recovery expected :lovestruc. We miss our DS deployed to AFG., but we're also praising God he is safe and rec'd all our BD & C'mas cards and pkgs brightening his day. :goodvibes

It's always sad to read of the family heartaches, specially during holidays. I don't think life is perfect for any of us, but I've learned to try make the very best of each day I'm blessed to rise and keep the faith in spite of the trials and tribulations I may be sent to test me. :flower3:

This christmas was more than good, its was GREAT!! After all the cancer, radiation, coma, blood transfusions, 7 operations, I am just so blessed to be alive and so happy to be with my family. Last christmas I was decorating the tree and there were lots of tears based on what the doctors had told us at the time, which the ds knew was really bad, not just how really bad. Anyway this christmas we went to the candelight service, ds18 ruined the night but it was o.k. as he promised to be good on christmas day. They didnt get many presents because I just couldnt shop and we had a great dinner together and I played simpsons monoply with the 3ds, dh was a sit out but we had fun. Aside from the religious aspects of the holiday which we hold near and dear this was the best christmas ever!!

OT what's a low country boil?

We had a fantastic Christmas here! I have no complaints.

We had a wonderful Christmas. I love everything about Christmas-music, movies, decorations, food, ornaments etc. Last Christmas I was posted on here how I was a wreck. My mom had been hospitalized that day and lets just say it was a nightmare. A year later and I have bought my first home, become engaged, planning a Disney wedding, went to Disney to see the Christmas decorations earlier in the month, DBF is no longer laid off, and my mom came down for Christmas. She is doing great!! Things couldn't be more perfect.

We had a great Christmas. I have a beautiful loving family, husband, 2 daughters, 2 SIL's and 5 wonderful grandchildren. I am truly blessed. :)

We had a wonderful Christmas!!

And I think a low country boil is potatoes, corn, shrimp and sausage - traditional South Carolina low country meal that is delicious!

We did! DH was home on leave from Iraq, need I say more?

My family had a great Christmas. Every year, I am thankful that I don't have to deal with all of the drama that so many seem to every holiday.

I was very thankful this Christmas - we went to visit family for the first time in 3 years - and last year we couldn't go because I was in the hospital for Christmas AND New Year's. Even visiting sometimes difficult relatives is a major step up from the hospital! ;)

Wow, I think there must be at least a dozen negative Christmas threads on the first page alone.

I got used to the "negative" Christmas posts on the DIS, ten years of it makes me immune to it.

I love Christmas, and I lost most of my family in the past few years so I cannot relate to these stories. I WISH I had the people most people and b&m about and I wish they could find peace.

As for me, I moved back into my flooded out house for the first time in 3 months. On Dec 24th I had to move in, get all my stuff turned on or fixed, put up a Christmas tree, finish shopping and host a eve party for my family.

God is good.:lovestruc

Ours was wonderful!! Couldn't have been better if we "custom ordered" it.. :thumbsup2

We had a great time Christmas Eve when DD's IL's were here.. Did something a little different this year and the gifts from them were opened that night.. Music playing; lots of good food; lots of photos taken; and played several games..

Christmas morning - round two.. IL's came back again after DGD woke me up - then woke her parents up.. We opened all of our gifts - some were really awesome surprises - and everyone was very pleased with what they received.. DGD made breakfast for everyone after the presents were opened - we chatted some more, played another game, and when the IL's went home everyone but me decided to take a nap.. I called my sister, brother, and mother (even though she had no idea who she was talking to - Alzheimers) - and then I went downstairs and started painting my plastercraft/ceramic pieces (which I've been doing all day ever since)..

Everyone was in a excellent mood - no "drama" - and it was great just spending time together..

Made me kind of sad when I popped in here to see all of these Christmas "vents" and "complaints".. :( So much of this could be avoided if people just took the initiative to change what it is that's making them so unhappy.. Bottom line is you can't change others - you can only change yourself and how you react to others..

For those like myself - who had a great Christmas - I hope your New Year will start off just as well..:thumbsup2

We had a great Christmas. We unwrapped presents in the morning. I got to take a nap in the afternoon:) (that never happens). We went to two Christmas parties that day and came back with armloads of fresh baked cookies, brownies, fudge; etc.

We had a great Christmas too!! We left the Friday before Christmas and headed to Gatlinburg and arrived with about 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground. It was beautiful. We go every year but this was the first time that we have seen snow like that. We came home the night before Christmas eve to my mom's, and had a wonderful lunch on Christmas eve with my family. We headed home for Santa to come after that. DH's parents came from Atlanta for the first time ever on Christmas day and it was wonderful. We never see family on Christmas because we live so far away from everyone. The kids had a ball and they still are.

We had an awesome Christmas. I am almost 31 years old and we have never once had a bad Christmas. There was not one millisecond of drama. Christmas is the absolute best time of the year!:cool1:
