Did Annual passes already have a price increase this year?

I just spoke to a CM in the travel section to see if i could change our 14 day passes into AP on the phone as i am worried about a price increase with cars land opening she said that she thinks they already had a price increase in January this year is that correct?

Ugh... No. The price hasn't changed yet since May or early June of last year.

I remember paying only $199 for our DLX AP's in 2001. In 2009 we paid $249 at Costco and got a $50 gift card. Now they're $379 for DLX. Its getting to the point where I'm not sure we can afford to renew for our entire family.

Not trying to compare Disney to anywhere else, but we can get AP's for Knotts, Universal, SeaWorld and Magic Mountain all combined for less than a Disney AP. Could even add in Legoland for a total cost of about $60 more than just a Disney AP.

My wife and I currently do have WDW AP's. We could upgrade to the premier for about $175 each which makes for a cheap DLR AP. But the kids DLR AP's expired this month. UGH!!!

Huff I agree. I got my first Dlx AP back in 2006 and had renewed it every year until last year (summer of 11). It just got WAY too much for us. And I noticed on this last trip that they have really come down to on the AP discounts. We went from our entire family having one to just me the past few years to then me letting mine expire and debating about even getting another but then luckily they did the monthly payments for CA residents which saved me. Course if they keep jacking up the price even the monthly payments might get nuts. Right now I am paying 35/month for mine which is doable but if it goes up much more even THAT could get to be a bit much (I have a very limited income). It IS better to have the AP esp if you are doing more than one trip in a year and the savings on food and merch BUT I agree it is getting cost prohibitive and I fear with the popularity of carsland it will just keep going up. :(

We're going in May and plan on purchasing APs. If we purchase our passes online now, do they begin now or the first day we use them?

We were just going to wait until the day before we left to buy them, but do you think it would be wise to purchase them now? (assuming that they aren't active until the first day we actually use them.)

They won't begin until you activate them in the park. If you are in CA and want the payment plan, the payments will start immediately but the pass dates won't.

ITA.....we had our first APs in 2007, we had 4 Deluxe AP's, we made plenty of trips on those APs because we could work around the blackout dates. The following year we were gifted Deluxe APs and they had the $50 gift card as well, we used the gift cards to upgrade to Premium APs because we wanted to visit over some long holiday weekends that were blacked out for the Deluxe, then we let them lapse for a year and got them again this past year (they expire 4-4). We currently have 4 passes for our local 6 Flags and the monthly payments on ALL 4 is less than $20 per month....to renew just my Disney Deluxe AP is $26 or something like that....needless to say we are letting them expire. I'm considering taking DD15 to DLR for a Mother/Daughter trip in July for her 16th birthday, if I do that I'll buy us hoppers and then upgrade and do the monthly payments. Depending on the budget of course. :)

I would buy them now, but be sure you know the expiration date on the voucher, they do have them. :) Your AP will be active as of the first day of use, not the purchase date, however be sure you verify that because there have been reports of Disers having the AP backdated to the voucher purchase date. It is fixable but it's best if you realize that right away. :)

I didn't realize that you could start the payments before the AP was activated, but that makes sense. Thanks for posting that! :)

How am I supposed to be able to figure out the expiration date when I buy the vouchers online from disney?

They are automatically going to send whatever they have in front of them. Probably a computerized transaction.

Just got off the phone with an ap CM, they expire 1 year from the date of activation or until 12/31/12 if purchased this year. My wifes BD is tomorrow so I am going to buy tonight once I get away from work.

Wow......ok.....ummmmm you simply look at the date on the voucher, if it's coming up prior to your visit a quick call to Disney will take care of it. I only mention it because it would really suck if you didn't know and there was an issue when you went to use it.......:confused3

Thanks for checking!

I guess somehow I must have come across wrong. I wasn't intending to sound rude. Sorry. Just a lot of planning going on right now, not just with the DL portion of our trip.

I understood your reason for posting. I was just trying to figure out how to get the right date on the vouchers. I guess I thought maybe you were saying there is a way to check the dates before purchasing.
