did a chat about expiring points

I just did a chat with DVC that yes my banked points would expire the end of July--but am I figuring this right

I banked 82 for Jan then used 39 from this years UY we have aug and have 61 from this year UY I can bank by the end of march

so if I cancel I could then bank the 61 leftover from this UY and the 39 that I took from this uy for Jan trip that I canceled is this right

so then if the world gets somewhat back to normal for a 2023 trip I would then have 200 points--100 which is our contract for uy 2022/2023 the 61 points that I can bank thats leftover from this uy and the 39 that I got back from cancelling this trip is this right--since those 39 points came from this uy and were never banked or borrowed to start with


the person I did the chat with suggested another place I could put the 82 points Im sorry but I dont remember what it was called could someone please explain this to me--

The only points that will expire at the end of July 2022 are the banked 2020 points you have...those 82 points...assuming you cancel the trip at least 31 days before check in. If you cancel with less days than that, all points will go into holding status. That means the 82 points and the 39 points will now expire at the end of July, 2022 AND will only be eligible to book a trip 60 days or less from check in.

The 61 points from your Aug 2021 UY that you have not used in any reservation will be bankable all the way through the end of March, 2022. The 82 banked 2020 points can be deposited into II, the new trading partner that is replacing RCI. Those would then be used outside of the DVC system to book things elsewhere. But, it can be a better option than just losing them.

Not sure when you trip is, but if you are already within 31 days, then canceling will end up restricting all 121 points used for your upcoming vacation.

You can transfer the points to RCI/ II and they give them an extra 1-2 years of life for an exchange in those systems. We’ve done this twice when we’ve had to cancel and points would expire. ( pre pandemic).
