So I've been a dicks rewards member for a couple years now but today I got an email first. I got an email from them listing all my recent purchases with pics asking me to rate the products. What's wrong with this you ask???? They were all Xmas gifts!!!!!! SERIOUSLY dicks???? Now is when you want to send detailed emails of my purchases? I mean if I had gotten these emails before I would know to look for them. Anyway DH saw the email so surprise is ruined.

Stupid phone replied before I was off my soap box!!!

Anyway, here's your warning Dicks shoppers!!! If your rewards account is tied to a family email address you might want to keep an eye out.

So did your husband see it in your email or for some reason do you share an email account with him??

Yes our email us a family account & that's what dicks rewards is tied to. It's also the email that's attached to our Mac computer so the emails show up on the bottom bar and he clicked oped the email and read it. Our DS was next to him talking about his day. Our computer is in our kitchen. So basically they both saw the pics and the words your recent purchase. Just a warning to others.

Many places do the same thing. I would be a bit upset, but honestly, Dicks has no way of knowing they were x-mas gifts for someone with whom you share an e-mail account. I get please rate our merchandise/how we did e-mails all of the time. It is unfortunate, but they had know way of knowing.:worried:

I guess the lesson is if you buy gifts on-line, you should set up a separate, private e-mail account for them.

Be careful of any on-line shopping you do. They all tend to send email confirmations.

As for Dick's, I am annoyed because I took the time to respond to one of those last week, got my $10 off coupon and when I tried to use it, there are exclusions. One of which is Under Armour which is pretty much the main thing I buy at Dick's.

See that's the thing that upset me, this wasn't an online purchase. I purchased this in store. That's why I wasn't expecting this email. Especially this time of year. I have all my online shopping confirmations sent to my work email if its a gift. This was an in store purchase that's why I'm mad. It's because I checked out with my rewards card do they knew who I was when I paid.

I get annoyed with this too. I am starting to selectively purchase where I am not tracked & followed. I don't have the time or inclination to rate every product purchase or respond to every store survey to be entered into a gift card drawing. We also share an email address & have had email surprises....sears is notorious for this.

I didn't know Dicks did that. Sears does, and I get sick of all the e-mails asking to rate whatever it was I purchased. I think Kohls does it too.

Yeah, the list of exclusions seems to get longer every year. I used to use them on shoes but now the brands I buy are excluded. Same with UnderArmor and IIRC on the most recent e-mail coupon I got Nike's knock-off of UA is excluded now too.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but it's one of a million reasons why I don't have a shared email address. If someone tells me something my husband needs to know, I can tell him, or forward him the email. Heck, with cell phones we don't even have a shared _phone number_ anymore.

I hate being tracked and asked to rate stuff.

A few years ago, I changed banks to PNC. After EVERY deposit, they called to ask me how my experience was. Seriously? I finally convinced them that I was serious about moving my money if they ever called again and that stopped.

So now, unless I have to, I refuse to give a phone number or email address. And if I have to give one, I use my junk address for commercial stuff like that. I only check that one if I'm looking for a receipt or something.

I just say, "No thank you, when a clerk asks for personal information. I do most of my online shopping at Amazon. They never harass me.

That's so different than my Amazon experience. I am usually asked for a review of my purchases:confused3. I don't mind giving product and/or vendor reviews.
I'm surprised in reading this thread that people have a "family" email account.
This is something that I've never thought of doing..

with amazon because the last thing you looked at often pops up on your home page. A few years ago the kids knew I kept looking at the wii 'cause it was all over when someone opened amazon. :( Today I was looking at phones and there are a about 15 displayed when I open my page.

Yep to this and it does bother me *asking to review my purchases.
