Too many to list. And a number of the one's I did know, like I keep saying, it would be nice to know what, if any connection they had to Dick Van Dyke. I suspected they were promoting something on CBS. Lost on me because I have never heard of The Neighborhood. Fox was the first to really get into the "promote the heck out of shows" schtick. Fox Sports was the first really with that. World Series, someone hits a home run and they show Homer Simpson in the stands reacting. Joke in our newsroom when Fox Sports did that and Fox still ran Cops was they would show some guy and say "that's the suspect the ran from Memphis Police last week on Cops"I had to do a double take when Rob Reiner first walked out. He's lost a lot of weight.
In many tribute shows, the people performing don't have any relation to the guest of honor. In the case of Cedric the Performer, Tichina Arnold and Beth Behrs, it could have been that CBS was trying to promote The Neighborhood. I'm not sure what the relationship is with JoJo Siwa, but she was one of the few performers that sat next to them on the sofa. When Rita Ora was introduced, DVD repeated her name. I'm not sure if that was because he is familiar with her or not.
Who else did you not know?
I enjoyed DVD's memoir, but it is clear a lot has changed since that was published in 2011 back when he was only 86! He has a new wife, who was one of the Executive Producers of the special although there were about a half dozen other Executive Producers in the credits, so no idea what say she had. DVD kept commenting that was only expecting this show to be an interview of him, so the performances he did not expect.
I think the BEST part of the whole show to me, was how sharp DVD is. A lot of recent photos show him in a wheelchair, which is understandable at age 98. But mentally he appears to be all there and thus got to enjoy the salute.
