Diaper Rash? Any helpful hints?

When my baby had the worst diaper rash, the thing that worked for him was otc creme medicine for *ahem.... athletic itch. It was due to a fungus...

I also read of this remedy online, and was nervous to try it, but I did because nothing else would work.

I figured that I'd put it on and if it irritated him, I'd quickly wash it off. Well, it didn't bother him, and within a day or two, the rash was gone...

Boudreaux's Butt Paste is the best out there! But, if it's oozing or raw, ask your pediatrician first.

I swear by Mary Kay's extra emollient night cream. I've used it with both my kids, and it's always eliminated the rash within a day.

Did you check the baby's mouth as well to see if there is yeast in there? If yeast is present, you will need medicine. I agree with the others, call the pediatrician.

Like others said, check with your doctor. It could be a yeast infection. I'd also be concerned about stopping the antibiotic before finishing the course of treatment; doctors always say to finish the antibiotic even if you feel better because you run the risk of breeding resistant bacteria.

If it's just a bad diaper rash, try Balmex. Both of my boys had tons of ear infections when they were little and the antibiotics always gave them bad diaper rash. We tried everything, but Balmex is the only thing that worked. In fact, this summer, DS13 had horrible jock itch while we were at WDW. We stopped at First Aid in Animal Kingdom since we left the jock itch powder in the hotel. They recommended going next door to the nursery and buying Balmex. Worked like a charm!

Thank you all for your advice, I knew the DIS would help.

I'm using A and D ointment right now. I talked to the doctor and they told me to discontinue the antiobiotics, if the rash isn't gone by the end of the week the will have me bring her in. They just want me to do pretty much what you all suggested, I just really hope it clears up soon.

Another vote here for Boudreaux's Butt Paste. I swear that stuff worked miracles on my babies' little hineys!!!

DS used to get really bad rashes all the time. I just used the Butt Paste and by the next day it would always be totally gone. It's really thick so it coats their tushy and I believe it is the best stuff out there for diaper rash, hands down.
