good morning!
Looking at Diamond Horseshoe as an option for our trip Dec31-Jan9

I am assuming that it will be open this time of year?

Any reviews from recent diners?

How long should one budget for time to dine?

Was thinking Diamond Horseshoe or Liberty Tree Tavern or Whispering Canton Cafe (but it would mean leaving the park on Jan 1st)

I know we are doing MK on the 1st and perhaps it will be so busy we will want to leave by dinner time?

Not sure....

It may not be open the whole week. I suspect it makes it to marathon then closes shop.

Standard hour to dine.

The food has received fairly meh reviews both on DIS and elsewhere. I'd do LTT or Skipper Canteen in park.

Does anyone really know the schedule for this place? We are going in January too. I read that it's only open during busy times, so I looked this last January just to see for next year. It was open all month, still is, and will be to mid June. Then it's blacked out through summer. Guess they aren't just doing busy times now? Am I missing something?

We dined at the Diamond Horseshoe last December. It was blah but you get plenty to eat. I would eat at Whispering Canyon or Liberty Tree tavern before DH but that is just my opinion. You should always try a restaurant to form your own opinion

I'll go against the flow and tell you that we actually really enjoyed our meal at Diamond last January. We were a bit afraid because of all the bad reviews, but actually really enjoyed our meal and the fact that the restaurant is so small that it's very calm.

We were there mid January, so very slow time, and still the restaurant was open for both lunch and dinner. Took us a bit more than one hour to eat, but we're travelling with young kids.

wow didn't realize it was only open during "busy" times. I have a dinner booked there in April (which is of course a busy time) Will be our first time trying it. LTT was an option also - maybe I should reconsider if there are bad food reviews?? It looked like a menu my boys would like at Diamond. :(

I would still go if it looks like something you'll like. Everyone is different. I've read multiple times how to avoid Chef Mickey's, and it's one of our favorite. I've also read may rave reviews of Ohana (well, more people seem to give negatives now than before) and hated it. This is true for any restaurant, not just Disney. Yeah, you may hate it, but you may love it. Personally, if it was something you were going to do, I'd still do it.
