We have a chance to finally eat here and I want to know your review.

Tell me about dinner.

I heard its buffet.

This place isn't open all the time. brag to me. Tell me what is amazing??

Thank you

1) Ah, the Diamond Horseshoe !
2) We used to love that place.
. . . cute "Western" floor show with dancing, singing and jokes
. . . audience participation on and off stage
. . . snacks, sandwiches and soft drinks
. . . nicely air conditioned, very nicely air conditioned, on a hot day
3) The labor costs became too much for WDW budget constraints.
. . . dancers, comics, other performers
. . . lighting and stage hands
. . . musicians
. . . waitresses, hostesses, bartendenders (for soft drinks)
4) They shut it down with little fanfare.
. . . Del Monte stopped its sponsorship, and it closed in 2003
. . . then, became Goofy's Country Dancin' Jamboree, and closed in 2004
5) Now, it is an overflow eatery for LTT, but only in "busy" seasons.
. . . busy seasons are usually Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break
. . . counter service and sandwiches for lunch
. . . family-style all-you-can-eat for dinner (same items as at LTT)
. . . recommended ADR's for either
. . . it uses the same kitchen as LTT, but the food seems far worse
. . . in most cases, not worth the effort
. . . during Halloween it is a "dance party" and Trick-or-Treat
7) WHAT A PITY to kill off such a nice attraction !!!!

NOTE: I got selected to participate before the show was canceled. I had a silly part,
but when the show was over, the banjo player let me take the instrument and play a
little blue grass. It was a cute little "jam session" with the other musicians.

Looking at their menu it seems very limited in comparison to the other TS and more expensive.

It's a shame really. MK is sorely lacking in TS restaurants, IMO. This restaurant is lovely and would make a great addition to that area. I think a little show would be nice, but even without that I bet there would be plenty of guests who would love the chance to book a good dinner without characters. As it is, if you are not quick, you don't get dinner in the park unless you want Tony's or the Plaza. I know my DH would love a "western" meal that works in that Land.

easywdw reviewed it recently and slammed it pretty badly. Josh's reasoning was sound so I would avoid it. Given that, someone's going to post here saying it was the best meal of their lives.

I think the issue as well is that Liberty Tree, Diamond Horseshoe and Skippers Canteen all share the same kitchen. So when Diamond Horseshoe is open they are looking to serve easy to prepare items, often repeating Liberty Tree items. If they added a proper full Table Service in Diamond Horseshoe, then Skipper Canteen will suffer.

Not a buffet. Plated. And the reviews are uniformly terrible. Usually you see a mix of reviews for Disney restaurants, but these were all bad. They've broken with the usual setup and have table service for both lunch and dinner. Can't tell if they intend it to be permanent or not, it's usually just open for overflow.

They won't pay for performers to have a show. There hasn't been one in there in years except for private functions.
