Diagon Alley Grand Opening?

And what if at that time (june 20 - 25) and staying at HRH and will be attempting early entry how would that work? Will there be people telling hotel guests where to line up or signs or something?

if the early entry for hotel guests changes from the ususal time, i'm not sure how hrh will handle it but rph notifies their guests by automated calls or notices at their room door.

front desk could have a sign up to reflect the early entry hour start time.

early entry is one hour prior to the official opening time for the parks.
with the hp2 new opening, have no idea if additional time will be allowed for EE.

Ok...now I am just plain scared...would it make a difference if we go Sun-Tues or Mon-Wed?

If it's going to grand open right before your dates no matter when you go will be a complete zoo if history repeats itself.

The whole summer will be a zoo.

We normally take our 10 day July 4th trip onsite all 10 days, NOT THIS YEAR!!!

Weekdays are always a bit less crowded but less then a week after HP opening will be a mad house regardless just maybe a fraction less.

Right now just hope for opening weekend to be June 27th-29th that will give you the lowest possible crowd attended right before opening.

Tip for those who are curious when it's going to open. We may find out as soon as today because Today was filming there yesterday with Al Roker. I think it may happen today, but may also happen as late as next Friday (when MK is doing their press event for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train). There are rumors on other Universal Sites about this.

We are going o Orlando 5/30 to 6/6. If they have a "soft opening" will that be open to everyone, or maybe just people staying on site? Maybe just certain kinds of passholders? I was going to order some annual passes online but not activate them of course until the first day we go. If I knew this would only be good for certain kinds of passholders I might upgrade what kind I get. We're also going in September so if we miss it in June I guess it's not that big of a deal...

Nobody knows. Last time it was for those staying onsite right at the beginning. They did eventually open softs for everyone, though.

We usually go the second week of September to avoid the worst of the crowds. Labor Day is all done, all kids are back in school, and most folks have spent their vacation time over the summer months. There are usually one or two attractions closed for maintenance, but the lack of crowds makes it worth it.

I was hoping for a Memorial Day weekend opening for both this and 7 Dwarfs Mine Train but it looks like neither will be open. Oh well. Very bummed as we only get down there every couple of years.

From everything I have read it looks like the Dwarfs Mine Ride should be opening in the next couple of weeks, so they should have all the kinks out by the time you arrive the end of May! :cool1: Have a great time!:wizard:

We're there at the beginning of August so nice to know it will definitely be open - staying in Cabana Bay - very excited!

Anybody think we won't hear an official grand opening date for Diagon Alley until after the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train has it's grand opening this weekend?

Quick questions relating to this...so if we have Early Entry due to a package with a partner hotel, is that just a 1 time use even if we have multiple day tickets? Also, can we use that Early Entry at either US or IoA - so Diagon Alley if open? We were just planning on IoA, but now that DA might be open, we're thinking US if possible.

It will be for every day that you have a ticket for. It is a code that is on the back of your ticket that will give you early admission. You should be able to use it wherever there is early admission. We don't know if that will include DA yet or not.

If one is staying onsite, be it at one of the Deluxes or Cabana Bay and have early entry, how is this handled during opening week. For example, say I have 1 hour early entry yet when I get to the park the line is already several hours long. Would there be a separate entrance for onsite guests or would the early entry be useless if one cannot get past the huge already formed lines.

EE at anytime will be separate roped off entrance. There are TM there to direct you. When we went for TF EE in Studios they had you enter at the exit. So I only assume that would hold true for DA.

Saw some overhead photos of the current construction of Diagon Alley this morning. These photos were apparently taken yesterday. It's my real first look inside the land from above. The one thing that struck me was how tight and narrow the alleyways look. It could be an illusion because of some of the angles, but they just appeared tight to me.

Nice find! I kept wondering why, with all the interest surrounding the project, no plane or helicopter or news crew ever did a fly-by to peak inside.

I mean, I understand possible aviation restrictions, but still, someone sooner or later was going to get close enough to shoot the project.

I love the look of everything, although I'm surprised it doesn't look more completed at this point given the possible mid- to late-June opening.
