Hearing word through other message boards and TMs that setup for the grand opening of Diagon Alley will occur the week of June 16th meaning the grand opening will occur sometime that week. Guessing June 18 - 21st. Additionally, Comcast announced during their earnings call this morning that they are very excited about the opening of Harry Potter 2 at Universal Orlando in quarter 2.

The Today Show will be live at Universal Orlando this Friday (4/25). Hopefully they will make an official grand opening announcement during the live show this Friday.

This is still all rumor so make plans at your own risk until Universal makes an official announcement. :)

Sounds great! We are going end of June/first of July so hoping for it to be open then :)

Assuming they have a Dec 31 year end, then it will be open by end of June! Great news

Does anyone know when they usually start soft openings for rides? A couple of weeks? We'll be at Universal around May 20-21 and wishful thinking...lol.

Rumours are mid May. Fingers crossed for you!!!!

I'm hearing that a June 18th grand opening is all but a certainty.

EDIT: The Today Show for this Friday was cancelled. Does this have any correlation to the opening date? Who knows. Last year there was a Today Show scheduled before Transformers and everyone thought they were going to announce the date for it. Show came and went without mentioning opening at all and Transformers opened in June despite people saying they were having problems with the vehicles on the tracks, etc.

It's still amazing how long both Disney and Universal wait to announce dates though, especially with how much people are spending on vacations.

We are there from the 16th - 18th and would love it if there soft openings for rides then? We can wish :rotfl:

We are booked at HRH 28th and 29th June, so would be really nice, if it was open then, but on the downside the crowds will be plus plus plus, so maybe opening after this would also be good. 56 days to go and counting

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I'm almost certain DA will be open by the end of June.

The Today show canceling annoys me a little. I was hoping to hear something on DA and looking at the sites and getting excited for our 1st time staying on site trip from Oct 25th - Oct 30th.

I was hoping for a Memorial Day weekend opening for both this and 7 Dwarfs Mine Train but it looks like neither will be open. Oh well. Very bummed as we only get down there every couple of years.

before the sun comes up that morning........

that is if hp2 is opening the week you are going....

How early should we plan on arriving at the parks? We are off site June 23-25.
Depends on the opening date. If DA isn't open yet I would say 30mins or so before opening. If that is after (a week or more) then I would say 1 hour.

If the opening weekend is the 20-22 of June (a very popular guess for opening weekend) then may god have mercy on your soul for trying to attend without the early access from staying onsite and fast passes. ;) I would recommend 1:30-2hours early.

I would ask this question again a couple of days before you arrive.
