recently diagnosed with acute renal failure. Trip is in 23 days for three days and strength is not up to par. Get fatigued very easily. Don't look sick from the outside but I know I won't be able to do all the walking. We are doing one day at AK and two days at MK. Any suggestions on which one? Wheelchair or ECV??? Can it be parked for a period of time so that I can walk some? Don't want to be dependent on it the entire time. Also, driving to the parks....will there be a problem with the tram getting from parking lot to the park? Thanks !!

Scooter. Practice with one at a grocery store before your trip.

Yes you can park the scooter at the parks.

Sorry you're dealing with this health problem.

1 what one what what park to go to or what to rent

2 a wheel chair you could use as a walker very hard if not imposable to push all day and ECV would give you much more freedom and easer to use, there is a learning curve to it but a little practice and you should be ok, you can go to your local target Walmart

3 yes it can be -parked
4 do not have to use it all the time
5 it will not be allowed on the tram

just a note you can rent from Disney it self if you do there is a chance they can and often do run out, they are bigger then the ones you can rent from off site.

if you are staying on site at Disney and rent one off site you can use the bus to go to the parks it is very easy to get on and off the bus with a little practice

Depends on your energy level and the energy level of those going with you. If you are the group member with the lowest energy then get a wheelchair. But if pushing you all day is going to be too hard on someone else, or there aren't enough people in the group to 'spread the wealth' then get an ECV. An ECV will use some of your daily energy because you have to concentrate on driving, use your arms and hands to steer and propel, your body core erect, etc. In a wheelchair you can relax.

Thanks @gap2368!

Thanks DisneyOma! At the moment the energy level is low. There are three other adults in our party including my two daughters. I just don't want to be a burden to them. I have always taken care of them, not the other way around!

Scooters are weight dependent for the model you pick. You don't want to max out the weight capacity of the scooter; because, it won't last a longer day. The bigger scooters have two batteries and last longer.

Pride Victory 10 is a stronger, bigger scooter. These can be difficult to get in and out of a car. They are heavier. One vendor doesn't want this scooter taken apart. Watch a u-tube video for how to take one apart and put it back together if you are using a car. Keep in mind if you are traveling in the same car you, other passengers and the scooter must all fit. To fit a bigger scooter in a trunk you need a bigger car. I know a Lincoln Town car trunk works if you put the seat in the car. Infact, this scooter is best with a larger SUV or van.

Scooters can be parked, but you need to park them out of the way. Scooters can't block the parade route for example at MK. Make sure you use ramps in your travels and don't jump curbs with a scooter. There are curbs near the castle, for example. For some rides you can park a scooter with the strollers.

Scooters need recharging each night. To conserve the batteries you should shut the scooter off during shows, parades, and fireworks.

Make sure you have your offsite vendor phone number in case you have a problem with the scooter.

You need to protect the scooter's tiller from rain. Many use a poncho or shower cap to cover it when necessary.

You can take a small rest at the first aid center if you need to do so.

I'll just add that driving an ECV all day around the parks can be mentally fatiguing. So while you are saving your physical energy, you may be draining your mental energy faster than usual. It requires one to be alert and aware of everything around you at all times, much like driving a car. Some people can do that, some find it exhausting when they are already low on energy. So just another tidbit to consider in your decision of ECV vs wheelchair. And I'm sure your family won't find you a burden, they love you.

Enjoy your vacation!

You might want to check with your doctor before leaving to see if it is recommended to travel by then, anything to do or not do.

You can consider applying for a temporary disabled parking permit. In most states, you can find the application online, print it and have your doctor fill it out then take it to the location that issues the permits (in some states it's the same place you get a driver's license). Some doctor's offices actually have copies because the doctor needs to fill out a part to certify the disability.
That would allow you to park in handicapped parking spots at WDW and home too.
If you can't get a disabled parking permit, tell each CM you come to in the parking lot that you have an ECV or wheelchair, but don't have a permit. They will direct you where to park. If you don't have a permit, don't park in the spots marked with blue paint lines.

Maybe message the OP with the name of the company? The way these two sentences are positioned, even though your intent isn't to encourage the OP to defy the company's wishes, it can be read as exactly that.

I believe the OP is smart enough to figure out which vendor does what by asking them and getting their advice for the specific needs they may have. It really doesn't matter anyway if they don't get this type of scooter. All I'm trying to do here is let the OP know all vendors are not alike with their policies.

I do understand what you are saying, but I would hope my true intent would be obvious; otherwise, I would have privately messaged the OP.
