I was wondering if anone knows of any restaurants that offer diabetic meals/deserts?:confused3

I would suggest going over to the disABILITIES Forum. One of the first threads is the disABILITIES FAQs. On Post #3 we have a lot of information for people with dietary restrictions as well as useful links about special diets. To get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs from here just click on the link in my signature.

There are sugar-free desserts available at all restaurants, both table and quick service, and even at some of the carts.

And really once you get used to it there is almost nothing that you cannot eat.

One day at our resort I was standing in the middle of the food court looking at the selections ......a manager came over ( he stands in the middle during mealtimes to help people on "the Plan" make sure they know what they can have and not have.......so anyways......he said can I help you.......and I said I am a diabetic .....he was going to get me the head man in the kitchen to talk to and I said .Oh no....I just wanted to know if I could choose the kids items for myself.......I love pasta but an adult size is to much.....so He said .....OF COURSE you can......and then asked if I was on the plan.....and I said no....He was very helpful in telling me everything that I could have smaller servings of.......ASK wherever you go and the managers are very helpful

When you make your ADR's mention this and they can add it to your res. As the pp advised, when you mention it to a cast member they can have someone guide you to what on the menu would fit or can also somewhat custom a selection for you.

First off let me state I am not diabetic. My diagnosis is hypoglycemic/pre-diabetic. My thoughts are, any menu at Disney (or anywhere else for that matter) can be friendly to those with blood sugar issues. It is about choices, how your body reacts, and being prepared for a bad reaction (low or high).

I need to limit my total carb intake, along with sugars. I have never run into a situation at WDW or DL where I couldn't eat at a CS or TS location.

At CS locations, if I dont have a salad with a protein, I'll have a burger or other sandwich and toss the top of the bun. I used to avoid pizza, but with the multigrain crust at WDW I can on occasion (and when feeling good) have pizza since the net carbs aren't as high as white crust. If like me, you have carb impact issues, be careful with the sugar free and no sugar added desserts - many are high in carbs, some higher then my allowed daily intake of carbs. At many CS locations, items served with fries can have apple slices or carrrots as a substitute.

Snacks are my problem area at the parks. So I carry jerky or a glucerna bar/shake with me.
