Sunday 6th November

Well, after months of eager anticipation the day finally dawned and we were off to our beloved DLP!!! We left home at about 9 a.m. and everything was going really well until we were nearly there and Rhiannon said: “Only half an hour and we’ll be there”! That was when the train decided to stop in the middle of the French countryside!!! There were various announcements about a train ahead of us having had a “choc” (which I think means crash rather than chocolate!!) It was another hour and a half before we moved again!!! We finally got out at Marne-la-Vallee just before 8 p.m. We were delighted to find it wasn’t cold at all which was a big relief after last year’s freezing temperatures!! We had been due to meet Becky and Amy at 7 p.m. but thanks to the marvels of the mobile phone we were able to keep them up to date on our progress - or lack of it. We walked through the Village to the Sequoia Lodge where we checked in (and cheekily asked if we could have a Montana room – which we got free of charge which was great considering we'd already had a free upgrade from the Cheyenne!!!) After very quickly taking our stuff to our room and freshening up a bit we set off to meet Becky and Amy at the Newport Bay Club. The hotels look really lovely with their Christmas decorations.

We had a little chat when Amy started to cry and said she felt sick - followed soon after by the evidence!!! She was rather concerned that it had gone on her shoes but Becky was more concerned about the carpet and I was more concerned about my coat – but like a good girl she had missed it!!! So Becky took Amy off to bed while Rhiannon went off to find a CM to clear up the mess. We were very impressed with this skilful little trick that Becky had obviously taught Amy in order to get rid of people when they have outstayed their welcome – but really 10 minutes seems a bit soon to me!!!
So Rhiannon and I set off for the Village where we had a lovely meal in the Rainforest Café and then did some serious shopping until the shops shut at midnight. We wandered back to the hotel where we had a couple more drinkies (!) The hotel Redwood Bar should look like this

but unfortunately they were refurbishing it so everywhere was covered with plastic sheets and we couldn’t go in. Never mind, we were there at last and went to bed full of anticipation of a wonderful day in the park tomorrow.

Well she said she wouldn't be able to do the trippie straight away but we all knew she'd be in front of that computer in no time didn't we?! :rotfl:

Well done!

You can't leave it there!!! ;) Hehe, such anticipation. Great start and lovely photos - the decorations are so gorgeous. Cannae wait to hear more! :)

You can't leave it there!!!

Di, I have really been looking forward to this and so far it is more than living up to expectations!! Poor little Amy, I bet she was still adorable judging from Becky's photos :goodvibes..........and from what Rhiannon has hinted at, the Redwood bar being shut for refurbishment didn't stop the drain on French red wine reserves ;) .

Can't wait for the rest!

K :goodvibes

Diana, What a great start!! Can't wait to read the rest. We have only 12 more days to go woo hoo!!!

Di, shame that your travel arrangements had a hold up but that magic when you finally arrive :goodvibes
10 minutes - seems that they lasted quite a while ;) Your reputation goes before you :rotfl2:
Shame since I was so looking forward to a mini DIS meet at DLP, maybe for another time :)

We were very impressed with this skilful little trick that Becky had obviously taught Amy in order to get rid of people when they have outstayed their welcome – but really 10 minutes seems a bit soon to me!!!

I know, I gave the special signal a bit too soon. I was planning on chatting to you for a least 15 minutes!!! :teeth:

I'm glad the reports have started - yay!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Oh, what a shame you couldn't see the nice decorations in the Redwood Bar! How disappointing. :( I've always loved the idea of that fireplace at Christmas time. :) It looks soooo cosy.

Despite the delay and almost being vomited on by Miss. Amy, it still sounds like fun!

Lovely start Di, how annoying getting held up on the train like that - how inconsiderate! :rotfl2:

WOW. You got a lot done on your first day!! Well done!!

Off to read part 2 now. :)

How nice ..... to remember "my" Sequoia lodge from last Christmas !!! :wizard:

Sorry for your delay ... but at least YOU ARRIVED to DLP !!!

In Italy you :rotfl2: would have been in the middle of ... nothing ... for ever !!!!!! :rotfl:

Going to next installment !!!!!

Great first part to Trip Report.Looking forward to reading Part 2.I agree Redwood Bar has great atmosphere on Winter Evenings.I was there for Christmas last year & it was superb.

Now time to plan next years trip !!

Of Course There is Always My Way !! :cool1: ::MickeyMo

I've just read all your trip reports in one go and they make wonderful reading! I'm glad you had such a lovely time. Can I ask a little selfish question - we will be at the Sequoia Lodge from next Tuesday, do you have any idea whether the Redwood bar will be open or not??? I'm sure you don't, but had to ask!!

Thanks for the lovely reports :flower:

I'm afraid I'd be quite surprised if the Redwiood Bar is finished yet as they were only just starting as we got there - but you never know, you may be lucky!!! The bar's still open (of course!!) and the seating area around the edges but you can't go into the lounge area. I'm sure they'll get it done as soon as poss though.
