Background... we've never been to Fantasmic and we've never been to the Boardwalk. Next month we're planning on seeing Fantasmic a night when there is one show at 7 p.m. If we're up to it, we might go over to check out the Boardwalk after. What's the best strategy? Do we follow the crowd out of the park, and then look for a boat dock? Will this be more or less convenient than simply taking a bus back to our resort and calling it a night?

You could take the path along the waterway to the Boardwalk. It is only about a 10 to 15 minute walk.

How long do you plan to stay ay Boardwalk?

How do you plan on getting back to your resort from the Boardwalk?

I don't know how long. Was thinking about visiting the Bakery, Beaches and Cream, or possibly walking over to Blue Zoo and trying their bar. And then taking a cab to our resort.

There is usually a line for the boat to the Epcot resorts after Fantasmic. We prefer to walk to BW. As the PP noted, it is only about 15 minutes. If you choose the boat, I suggest you get off at the Swan-Dolphin stop (it's 1st) and walking to BW by way of the bridge.

We love walking. Im not sure how well marked the path is though. You walk pass the bus stops right along the water- very relaxing and quiet.

Cab = convenience! Good choice.

I'd go ahead and walk if the boat is packed and if my feet aren't too tired.

I'm sure Robo will show up any minute with a picture of the walking path to the Crescent Lake Resorts. I believe the boat dock is on the left as you exit the park and the walking path is on the right. The path takes you directly to the Boardwalk.

It is an easy walk to the Boardwalk, and if you don't mind walking after getting to the Boardwalk, its about 9/10 mile around all the resorts on Crescent Lake and you can visit the Beach Club and the Yacht Club, too. More importantly, is it just adults or adults and kids and where are you staying? IF DHS closes at 8PM, you'll only have a little time to visit the Boardwalk then walk back to catch the busses. If you have park hoppers, you can always hang around the Boardwalk for while, then go through Epcot to catch as bus back (as long you enter Epcot before 9PM). Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, Coronado springs are probably a $10-$15 cab ride if leaving from the Boardwalk so you could stay later and see some of the "street" entertainment at the Boardwalk and if just adults go to Jelly Rolls - a fun piano bar (Must be 21 years old to enter).

Thanks! That makes me much more confident.

Yes, just two adults on this trip. We're at AKL, so imagine that cab fare will be a little more, but I think OK if it's our only cab ride of the trip.

Thanks! Sounds great.

Add another vote for walking.

I get lost in my own backyard and I didn't have any trouble finding the walking path. It's very pretty at night to walk along the water!

As you can see from the map, it's a pretty easy path to find. Just stay to your right as you exit DHS, then follow the water! I think at the end of the bus stops on that side there's a small sign that says to the Boardwalk. But it's a 4 foot wide sidewalk (+/-) not easy to miss.

If just adults, you can have a nice evening in the area. There's Karoke in Kimonos at the Swan (although the last two times DH has stopped by, he said it's been dead) Enjoy the blue zoo, the Boardwalk, Jelly rolls, Beaches and Cream, maybe ESPN, Atlantic Dance Hall, and just scouting out all the resorts.

Copied from another site..."Boardwalk Buskers are an assortment of live entertainers who perform 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturdays outdoors on the BoardWalk. From sword swallowers and jugglers to magicians and strolling musicians! For more information on Disney's BoardWalk live entertainment, visit Steve Soares' WDW Entertainment Website."

The cab ride is certainly the easiest and will run around $25 to AKL- Although if you catch it from the Swan, it might be little cheaper. Alternatively, if any park is open late or has EMH, you can consider that for transportation. But I would strongly suggest not doing any transportation that involves DTD

The walk from the Bus stops at DHS to the Boardwalk is about .75 mile

ENJOY!

Thanks all! I appreciate the advice and insights. We don't have hoppers and Epcot is the only park that could be a possibility for returning that night. It's open till 9, so figure we'd have until 10 at least to get there. But there is no way for us to get the bus side easily, so we'll probably do a cab.

We've always used Disney transportation to get around and don't really want to do the Cab route....What is Boardwalk considered? A park? Although we've never seen it on a bus from the resort....Could we get something back to DTD and then on to our resort if we stay late? I really want to take advantage of all Boardwalk has to offer and it may be late. We stay at All Star Movies. Help:flower3:

1. Ditto.

2. Boardwalk is a resort hotel. It has regular resort bus service.

3. Resorts don't offer regular resort-to-resort bus service.

4. Yes. (Although I hate that route. Usually very, very slow turnaround to another resort.)

5. After many visits, we have not found all that much that Boardwalk actually has to offer.

NOTE: If you stay "late" (after Epcot and DHS are closed) at a restaurant or club (like Jelly Rolls)
they DO start running buses from Boardwalk (bus stop is in front of the resort, #21 on the map)
to all of the other WDW resorts.

Wow, I never knew that, thanks Robo!
