DHS Rope Drop?

What's Hollywood Studios rope drop like these days? When I last went, I think there was still a rope drop show thing and then it was a stampede to Toy Story at exactly the posted opening time. I think we got led into a portion on the street about 20/30 minutes before opening.

What's it like now?

Usually they let you in about 30 min early and have the crowd stop right in front of Starbucks.

Then a few CM's will lead to toy story and a few will lead to ToT. It's cm's from those rides so you just follow the uniform of the ride you want

How do those who have H&V reservations get past the mob/herd?

So if you want to sign up for Jedi Training can you do that when they let you thru the gates (let's say at 8:30 on a 9am opening) and then head back to the crowd and head to TSMM?

I'm pretty sure you have to wait. The only getting through early would be for ADRs. I'm just not clear on how that happens if the herd of people is already on the street.

No. You would need to go sign up after the park is officially open. Everyone is held on the main street

I agree, I was able to sign up for JTA as soon as the main gates opened about 20 minutes before official park opening.

Thought you had to go over by Indy to sign up?

Yes, we were able to go to the left to sign up at Indy. Which is consistent with the PPO breakfast experience.

We were right behind them but it took us a while to get thru the taps tiles so had maybe 60 groups in line in front of us for sign ups. Our wait for TSMM was only 20 mins. But it was May.
