A few locals have recently gone and said DHS is like a ghost town - walls up everywhere and very little to do. Our last time there we left before all of this started, so not sure what they're talking about other than talk about building Toy Story & Star Wars land. Any idea the time frame they're talking about for completion and what these new 'lands' will entail?

I was there in May and there were walls up, Lots of people and with not much to do for young kids. We got to the park at 3:30 and left at 7:30. We couldn't kill another hour or so to wait and see the fireworks. The kids were bored.

Hate to hear this. We are going in January and have never been to DHS. We were going to add it this trip since we hope to see the Star Wars fireworks, and DD wants to add Rockin Roller Coaster to her "done that" list. If we are really just interested in RRC, ToT, some of the shows, and the fireworks, could this be done in a half day? If so, we wouldn't mind enjoying our resort for the first half of the day.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I get the ugly look of walls up all around, but almost all of the main attractions are still up just like they have been the last 5+ years. The only major things closed are Lights Motor Action and the Backlot tour IMO.

Plus, they ADDED an awesome nighttime star wars show, and the launch pad, etc...

I do really, really miss the animation academy though.

The wait times for RNRC and TOT can get quite long (hour+), so you should def take that into account.

I'm more curious as to what they're actually building there and if there are any projections of completion dates or is it just way too soon?

I don't really understand "very little to do". Lights Motor Action and Backlot Tour are the two major attractions that were closed. Still have: Toy Story Mania, Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror, RockNRoll, Little Mermaid, Star Tours, Indiana Jones, Muppets. Recently added were Star Wars Launch Bay and Frozen Ever After.

When we were there in April, we did it in half day. We did rope drop and finished before 2:30 pm. This park was the only one we took break and went back to our resort to take nap. Went back at night to watch the Star Wars fireworks.

At rope drop, we did Toy Story, The Great Movie Ride, then FP to Star Tour, Rock and Roll (rode twice), Tower and Terror. We took pictures with Chewbacaa and Kylo.

We're not going until end of 2017 so I'm wondering if what's open now is going to be closed soon or in the next year, and what the building schedule is looking like. After our last trip DHS made it to the top of DD's park list, and MK took a step down - probably due to her almost turning 11 by the time we go next year.

I took a stroll through the "launch bay"....i kept asking exactly what the attraction was, kept looking for what the buzz was about....best i could tell, a bunch of models and a gift shop, and get in line to take a picture with a wookie???

I'm not aware of ANY other closures other than those already mentioned. Only additions. HS is our second favorite park close behind MK. Our kids love it... RnRC and ToT and all the other stuff HS has to offer. I can't wait to see the new Star Wars night time show, and walk around the launch bay.

As I mentioned it was locals that came back that stated that so I was wondering how much of it was true. For my daughter, TOT, RNRC, TSMM and Star Tours are about all that she would be interested in especially when we go next year in 2017 when she'll be closer to 11 than her now 9 -- but not sure if there are plans to close those rides down or whats closed now is it and its just a matter of waiting to see what gets built and when.

Thank you! Any idea what the projected additions are and when they're looking to be complete? I know Disney's dates of 'complete' can vary from a month to a year. lol

The only two items on this list that I will miss is the Backlot Tour and Lights, Motor, Action.

The rest of it? Eh, not a big deal.

Ummm.... Frozen Ever After is at Epcot.

I believe she meant the Frozen Sing-along. Something I forgot to mention in my first post. We did the sing along last year and really liked it. Good humor, and the crowd was REALLY into it.

We were there in February. I can't remember if we rope dropped the park, but it was very close to it if we didn't. We hit everything we wanted to- GMR, Toy Story, Muppets, Indiana Jones, and took a while looking through Launch Bay and Watto's Grotto. We were done by 1pm. We ended up going back to our resort because there wasn't anything left to do. We're skipping it this July trip, since we don't really see the point in spending the time there when we could be in MK for a few more hours and do WAY more.

This! :thumbsup2 We were just there a few weeks ago and it's basically the same park it has been with the exceptions mentioned in the quotes above. Star Wars Launch bay is totally cool with lots of in-depth Star Wars stuff to look at. We didn't really feel like we missed anything other than Streets of America.

Is the animation academy closed now?! My DD will be so disappointed! Looking forward to meeting Kylo and the SWDP though!:chewy:
