We are currently at DHS and the park hours today are 9:00-6:00. Never have seen it close this early before except in winter. Is there possibly a special event going on here tonight?

Thanks y'all. I wish it was to have an announcement party for Star Wars land but I'm not holding my breath.

More likely it's something like a corporate event or high school graduation event (aren't we close to that season?). Groups often rent out Hollywood Studios for private events.

You can read all about it here: http://www.disneymeetings.com/disneyworld/networking-and-social-events/disneys-hollywood-studios/

I got to do an event at HS with my husband once. They closed the park to the public and bussed all the conference attendees to the back and let them in once everyone had left. It was amazing! The place was nearly empty, people were running through TSM over and over and over again with no waits, there was free food at the restaurants, free snacks from the food carts, dance parties (which were sometimes a little odd... I remember seeing six CMs in cowboy outfits boogieing down with one lone intoxicated guest! :lmao:), and fireworks!

Tres awesome. :thumbsup2

The park is closing for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Annual Session attendees.:)

They are even having fireworks at 10:15 PM!:)

I have to say those Pediatric Dentists know how to DO DISNEY!!!Wish I was invited!!!!:)

We are here too and I was surprised to learn of the early closing, but the crowds seem low though due to this so that's a plus; DH even commented about the low crowds and he usually doesn't pay attention to that kind of stuff, lol!

I'm trying to figure out how the short hours are a surprise to some of you. Park schedules are released months in advance. Are there really people that go to the parks that don't check the hours first? :confused3 I can't imagine doing that! :goodvibes

That's a good question, not sure how I missed that, lol! We pretty much chose HS today while planning our itinerary for this trip because it was a recommended park for today on easy WDW's May crowd calendar; but I am not upset or anything because we weren't planning on staying past 5pm anyway. The crowds have been pretty good though, we got off TSMM not too long ago and the standby wait time was only 55 minutes! Moments ago we did the Jake meet and greet and there were only two other families in line with us! We're enjoying our day here.

We had early "land" closures and extended hours in MK (back in the day) where they'd close off for corp events. It was awesome as a CM too, we'd sneak up and take a peek at the Adventureland parties if things were slow on our attraction. As a DCP they closed Tomorrowland for a DCP Ball for us after hours. It was incredible!
