I am not happy about eating choices closing at the same time at DHS. I haven't done Studio Catering or Pizza Planet, but they were two options that served people. Now those people have to go somewhere. The wait times at meal time for the QS at DHS are ridiculous already. They are so bad, that we have had to eat at the hot dog trailer in front of LMA. I guess that's going to close too or hopefully move somewhere else. I don't mind them redoing these things, but it would be nice to keep as many food options open as possible in the worst food park.

Blimey, I knew they were closing stuff but when I go in September I can see me being in and out of the park within a couple of hours

The funny thing is I think everything they've closed so far is stuff we never did. Except the animation academy. Of course, we're often in and out of that park in about 6 hours anyways.

I'm curious about what they'll use for the park icon. I know the Hollywood Tower Hotel has been used in some materials, but it seems an odd choice, and hardly central. The GMR Theater replica is possible, but on the smallish side for park icons. Perhaps something completely and totally new.

We didn't do most of the attractions that are closing but the trouble is that they ate people. If people continue to come they have to go somewhere and that pool of somewhere is shrinking quickly.

Honestly...who cares about icons? Icons are used to sell the park and product...

And...I'm using my own credo of TOTS...they really are going at this.

That tells me that they are willing to basically take the next two years as "lost years" in the park history. Somewhat similar to DCA.

I don't think they really care about short term attendance or revenue...what's most important is getting this thing up and online.

Star Wars kills at the box office...but Disney gets 3x as much profit and revenue from the parks...that's where they need it more.

And as pointed out with everything lately...the bad news for ESPN rolls in almost daily...Star Wars is underperforming in China...and China is in DEEP doodoo at this point.

Deep...good place to pour all your cash for 10 years. Well I guess not?

So you can walk in from the new Star Wars Resort? :tiptoe: :ssst: :chewy: :darth:

I know it's not going to happen (at this point anyway; but who knows what they may get it in their heads to do at another time), but I love this idea.

Maybe you misunderstand me - I think we are actually agreeing for the most part - Pecos Bill's is good (though they have a new menu so IDK) we've always enjoyed Cosmic Rays even though it is somewhat generic fast food. Columbia Harbor House is a hidden gem that seems to be less and less secret every trip, but the food quality is top notch. The waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow also rock, and Be Our Guests lunch menu is excellent and still considered a CS. Even Pinocchio Village Haus is decent, though it used to be better.

Apologize as I am getting way off the topic here...so...construction in DHS. Has anything actually STARTED?

Oh, dear lord ... the new menu at Pecos Bill's ... ugh ... awful! Yuk ... gross ... blah ... and anything else you may think of to add to that list. We went in September right after it re-opened and it was really bad. Won't go back. I prefer to get salads at the QS places, but bring back the cheeseburgers!

This isn't a bad thing in the long run, but in the short term people will complain.

I wonder how much of this is the Chinese economy, and how much of this is a lack of awareness and familiarity with Star Wars. I expect that the next Star Wars movie will build upon this nascent audience.

I'm more concerned about the "bar" next to Studio Catering company. It's the only place I could ever find Schöfferhofer on tap!

So I think that now leaves the Indiana Jones Stunt Show as the only thing the park that uses the "Studios" theme and hasn't been announced for closure...

I'm going to miss the Earful Tower, I don't know how I'm going to tell my mom, it was her favorite of the icons (well, tied with Cinderella's Castle). Just makes me sad because out of all of those recent announcements, this is the only one that feels like a true loss. It endured with the Hat being the icon and has truly been a symbol not only for the park, but the resort in general. It's going to be weird not seeing it driving by, as that was one of my favorite "You're in Disney World" moments seeing it on the road. Mike and Sulley can easily be relocated (and I hope!), and something tells me it's not the end for the Honey I Shrunk the Kids props only because of A Bug's Life and It's Tough To Be a Bug and the Tree of Life renovation and so on. I know that seems super weird and unlikely but something just clicks in my mind with that

It's about time Lights, Motors, Action! went, and that probably frees up the 14 acres needed for Star Wars land:D

I am against any closing of bars:drinking1 I think most people are in a better mood in the parks when they have relaxed a bit with a drink. DHS needs all of the relaxation it can get, so that people aren't angry about all of the closures.

So I think we can poorly assume that if a second entrance to DHS is made, it's because they built a Star Wars hotel. (Although - tell me how much could they charge a night for a lousy room at a Star Wars hotel?? - They could build it slightly above All Star Quality and charge deluxe prices by having Storm Troopers roam the lobby.

That idea got shot down on page 5. :badpc:

...with good reason

Can someone explain to me - again - where they see any indication that the current Disney management has any desire to build and sell more Hotel rooms?
