It's been said that this location does stay a pizza place but I think it is also safe to assume that the theme will change with an 11 month closure. If it doesn't I will be very surprised. It is also apparent that the permit is for the entire complex including mama Melrose as it doesn't expire until November 2017. Mama Melrose has been said to get a rework even before this permit came out. This is all making sense the way it is shaping out.

Hey - hope it all turns out, I really do, HUGE Muppet fan. Stood 3 hours to meet Constantine when he came. Am sitting here in my office looking at a row of Kermits and Piggy's etc on a shelf. But right now all we have is that permit which tells us nothing - which also says on one page it's for the Wilderness Lodge :rolleyes1 and no commitment or announcements from Disney. "It's been said" "it's confirmed" .......... all we have is lots of discussion, rumors and conjecture. Until someone posts a link direct to the Mouse itself, I'm just going to wait with crossed fingers.

50s Prime Time is my favorite. I have never done Brown Derby tho and Hollywood and Vine is not always talked about very well.

Ok...

Brown derby is the best by far - top 10 on property

Mama melrose used to be really good...but is hit or miss these days

Sci fi is unique but the food is average...prime time is about the same

Hollywood and vine outside of breakfast is one of the worst places anywhere.

The quickserve and MGM is the worst anywhere.

...that about covers it.

I'll have to look into Brown Derby. I have done Sci Fi and Prime time. I like prime time better but I think a lot of that has to do with the atmosphere which helps the experience.

I will agree with the quick service it's not very good.

This. You only need to stand by the fountain in front of Muppetvision 3D and look around to see that the whole area has a similar theming. In fact, Pizza Planet seems to be the odd one there.

Pizza planet was obviously a cheap, easy conversion that fell into their lap. Serving the worst excuse for "pizza" outside of a Russian prison

We've always liked Sci Fi but we do order carefully if you know what I mean. I won't go back unless I have at least 3 people because always being put in the "backseat" behind strangers gets tiresome.

DHS is the worst overall when it comes to food! I hope that something decent comes out of Star Wars and the Muppets.

Animal kingdom is kinda lacking too but it has improved over the last ten years...

Nothing is worse on a scale of price, crowds, and quality than magic kingdom...in my opinion.

Brown derby "saves" MGM from That distinction in my book.

Have you been to the new lounge/bar? Fantastic...both the drinks and the slimed down, cheaper offerings on the menu.

Haven't tried the lounge but I'll keep that in mind.

Animal Kingdom has definitely improved. We certainly enjoyed the offerings at the Harambe Market. Also I have my favorites in and around MK. Columbia Harbour House would actually be where I'd always eat lunch given a choice but we enjoy hopping onto the monorail to dine at one of the resorts too. I think that convenience wins out at MK.

Brown Derby is excellent. We are going to try 50's Prime Time for the first time in March. I always like trying something new.

You should have a great time there. My grandpa still talks about that place from last year.

I totally forgot 50's existed. Ive only been there once and its kinda tucked in an odd corner of the park. Woops

50s and Hollywood and Vine are connected and share a Kitchen (and rest rooms). I don't really think of them as "tucked away" because they are right in the center of the park.

Rather than rehashing things - I pretty much agree with @lockedoutlogic on his assessment of the food at DHS. The Counter Service has actually improved in the last 5 years - we ate at ABC Commisary last trip because we had heard this and it was decent food which is a first for that place. It's still the worst of the 4 parks. (Would rank Epcot, DAK, MK, DHS for both CS and TS.)

Am I alone in thinking that ABC Commissary isn't really that bad? They, actually, had some of the best cupcakes I've ever had there and the grilled chicken was wonderful.

No that's what I was saying - it was pretty good. I had the oriental chicken salad and liked it a lot. Both DW and DD enjoyed their meals too. This was NOT the case 5-7 years ago, it was all bad burgers and fried junk. They've drastically improved it. Hopefully the same happens with Pizza Planet - because that place was terrible too.

Agreed! Pizza Planet needs a complete menu refurb in the process, so, hopefully it gets that!

Also remember that 90% of posters on here are going to be a lot more critical than most and are a horrible sample size of the population of Disney guests. Moreover, it is more likely a non-frequent poster will be someone that complains rather than compliments -- people are more inclined to come on here to complain about something than praise. So you always have to take criticisms with a grain of salt. For example, I myself have found most criticisms on here to not agree with the feelings of anybody I travel with.

The outside lounge with the umbrella tables is one of my favorite spots to sit down outside, eat, and just relax in the shade. It is a great place to people watch because it is slightly lower than ground level. Couple that with the menu (which is excellent) and that spot is a can't miss. The outside bar itself was recently plussed up a bit.

I almost ranked MK below DHS - but I think the TS at MK is better quality overall, and while there is some bad CS at MK, there are a few good ones too, enough to get by anyways.
