Drove by it on the DME yesterday as we headed out of town and wondered aloud when it was coming down. Then heard the news today.

There were couple permits filed for demolition and construction yesterday, mostly on the TSL side, so it appears things are moving along.

Yep which is a good thing. The production bungalows have already been demolished back there. A smaller building still stands which is included in one of the new permits, and then there were a couple for the LMA area I believe. One interesting note, the Costuming building is not being demolished it seems but rather refurbished into something else based on another permit.

Do you know the expiration date for this permit? You know how Dan on wdwmagic always lists what that date is (even though that can be amended).

Not sure I'll look though. Work starts in August on this and Dan said this should be done before Star Wars opens.

Just checked these permits don't have expiration dates.

Great pics out there on how this new entranceway will go. Loved those pics. Makes it much easier to understand. Leaves a lot to the imagination of what Disney could do with Hollywood studios in the future

Crews were working on the SOA today, they began removing the spotlights mounted up on top of the facades and the many speakers placed throughout the streets. Also does anybody know if they started the demo on LMA yet? I thought I saw some rubble back in that area in a demo update someone shot recently at the muppets exit.

Crews were working on the SOA today, they began removing the spotlights mounted up on top of the facades and the many speakers placed throughout the streets. Also does anybody know if they started the demo on LMA yet? I thought I saw some rubble back in that area in a demo update someone shot recently at the muppets exit.

That rubble was left from the premier theater. Things should start progressing once all the work of removing electrical on the facades is done.

This could impact the Marathon Course more than the construction inside of DHS. Construction like this beginning in August will not be completed by January. Depends on what lanes are open and if Disney wants us running through a construction zone.

Yes the course was going to be changed anyways due to the backlot and LMA area at DHS being walled off.

Didn't read the whole thread, so forgive me if this was talked about -- but are they actually removing the whole New York section? Seems like they are taking out a lot to put in Star Wars and Toy Story Land. It seems to be going away from the theme of a movie studio lot and entering just on the two large new parks !?! Wonder if they will also get rid of the street performers?
