DHS bus drop off 20 min walk!?

So, let me make sure I have this right.
Walk 8 miles (our avg) INSIDE the park, without shade, fine. Plenty of times these walks are 15, 20 min without stopping.
Walk extra 100, maybe 200 yards to the bus, and wait for the bus, without shade. Possibly spend $10 with Uber instead, deal breaker
Ok. Got it.
Hopefully, those of us willing to make the trek will find the FP for Slinky Dog easier to get.

Only be bothered by things that make sense to other people. Run all emotions and experiences by certain people for their approval before having them.
Ok. Got it.

Only partially related, but is there any impact to where the parking lot trams drop you off with this change in bus loop location?

I may have missed this somewhere, but can't you still take the boat from the Beach Club/Epcot area, which leaves you in the front?

Yes but this thread isn’t about Transportation to DHS, it’s specifically about the temporary location of the bus loop and the impact on park guests.

Ya'll must take a different walk to the buses than I do. I know for a fact the entire walk to the bus stops is not shaded when I walk to them

You can find a lot of shade though. I usually exit the front gate and then cut across either behind or in front of the ticket windows, whichever has shade. Then there is a very short stretch from the last ticket window to the metal gates that is usually mostly sun, then if you stay to the left it’s usually shady again until you split off to your particular bus stop zone, where you can walk in the shade of the covers over the stops. It’s not solid shade all the way, but enough shade that it’s not unpleasant. The only place that’s bad is if you have to use the temporary looking spots that run down the middle of the lot where the Pop bus stop is. I have seen people waiting there with no shade, but I don’t know where those buses go. Maybe off property shuttles or something?

The walk to the MK or AK buses is a lot worse from a shade standpoint, but at least there is a cover when you get to the stop. I think it’s the waiting in the sun after a hot walk that has people riled up. If the waiting area was covered with even some sort of temporary shade, I don’t think there would be as much of an issue. But I usually arrive at the bus stops overheated from my walk and need that shade to recover so I don’t pass out. I will be taking advantage of the cooling bus, even if it means missing the first bus (or two) going back to my resort. I know what my heat tolerance is, and when I am there solo, I don’t have the luxury of pushing it.

Walk back report
Decided to take the parking tram. Got off at television/stage, walked across the street and on to the bus loop.
The time from the tram ride to the bus loop was, again, 8 minutes, only about 4 minutes walking. Currently in a cooling bus waiting for the AoA bus, there are about 10 people waiting in here for various buses.
The cm in this bus is in communication with the buses pulling up so he lets us know when one is coming.
I was chatting with him, he has been told that the newnloop will open February/March, the entrance to the actually park is being bumped forward closer to the skyline and that's why they have to rearrange everything.
Edit to add: currently on the bus back to AoA, the wait in the cooling bus was actually pretty great, nice and cooling for sure, definitely needed at this time of day
I hope this helps you prepare and anticipate for your next trip. It really isn't that bad of a walk but the heat is the real issue

She said it'll probably take a year for the new one to be open (take that as it may) and that it'll have restrooms

Definitely won't be another year.

February/March makes a lot more sense. The turnstiles are staying in the same place as far as I know but the security bubble will be moving up and a new more permanent bag check/security will be constructed.

@yulilin3 ~ Is there a crosswalk in the area leading to the loop and is there even much traffic in that area other than buses?

Would this be a viable option when heading to a bus as long as tram lines aren’t too lengthy?

So you think this wins over walking back? Or about an even trade?

They should probably find a less strenuous vacation if 5 minutes of extra walking puts you down that bad.
Not very nice, Mike...
I really struggle with my breathing (No, I'm not a smoker, not have I ever been) and 5 minutes in high humidity can cruelly affect my respiratory status. But, according to you, I should give up the ghost and not visit Disney?
Not your circus, not your monkeys.

Clearly, no one here on the Dis has ever struggled to walk extra time with a disability. Although my "disability" is not obvious to others just by looking, it IS there. And in the parks I have options to stop and rest.

I'm surprised at the venom on this thread. I'm certainly NOT lazy, but I definitely do not want to walk extra time prior to park opening.

Thank you all for reading my point of view!

People losing their minds about walking an extra 5 minutes and its only temporary. lol

In all fairness though, the fact that it’s temporary doesn’t matter if a person’s trip is scheduled before the permanent replacement opens. For those guests, it might as well be permanent. I don’t think it will be as big an issue once the cooler temps arrive, but in summer, every extra minute in the sun feels like torture. Even those of us who live here go from our air conditioned houses to our air conditioned cars to our air conditioned offices, schools and stores. We don’t spend any more time outdoors than absolutely necessary until the temps drop and the humidity reduces.

So if someone wants to complain about walking five more minutes and then standing in the sun for another 20-30 minutes, I will give them a pass. I don’t know their circumstances and the issue to them is valid.
