DHS bus drop off 20 min walk!?

I mean I will say the one to/from Epcot does have a decent amount of shade from the surroundings, however I don't think you care to understand the point of those who are frustrated, and just like you, they're entitled to their own thoughts/opinions. It's great if you're happy to make the walk and wait at a bus stop further away and with no shade at DHS, but it's also okay if others feel frustrated or feel that Disney could have and should have done something better.
At what point did I say I was happy about it?
I'm simply trying to figure out where it's horribly worse than any other park.
The walking to/from part.
And the distance part.
Not the uncovered bus stop part.

That's interesting. FWIW, DW and I absolutely have no problems walking or running long distances, but we absolutely FELT the walk to the bus station at DHS was unpleasant. We thought it was because it was long, but with the data you provided, it sure must be something else, thanks for pointing that out!

Also, we don't have that feeling at Epcot. We know buses can be far away, but we just deal with it. Maybe because the walkway is more scenic? “Look right, a monorail, look left, Spaceship Earth, oh we're already there, was is our bus stop again?”

All things said, I totally agree when you point out that some people are over-reacting over this. This is just a temporary bus stop, that is needed for future expansion of the resort. Also, there are cheap alternative solutions, such as driving or renting a Uber/Lyft/Minnie Van.

However, once again, I hope that you can try that walkway on your next trip at WDW, because there is “something” with it that probably can't be described with words, which probably is a reason why this topic is so dividing. DW and I didn't like it, and we had no idea the internet was broken with people ranting about it on this 6+ page topic, which I found out later that day.
A Minnie Van is not a cheap alternative, at $25 a ride.

I'm not sure I want to argue about this, but if you need Disney Transportation from the DHS, this means you already paid off park tickets + a night at a Disney Hotel. $25 (plus gratuities, Minnie Vans drivers are now tipped positions) on top of that shouldn't make too much a difference, doesn't it?

As far as shaded bus stops/walks, I think what many people are saying is that when you are walking to the buses at MK (for example), if your bus is the farthest one out, you are still walking under shade the whole length of the load zones. So, not only is your stop covered, all the other stops up to yours is too, so you are actually under shade for a good portion of walk farthest away from the park entrance.

Heat is something everyone feels differently, even the same person will feel differently about it given their current state. Disney obviously sees something is off for a large enough portion of their HS guests that they put out cooling buses. There must have been some type of reliable feedback in order for them to change this up, or had people getting sick/passing out.

2 questions...
Are there trams you can use instead?
And, how close is Uber/Lyft drop off?

I can't imagine with my respiratory issues, that in the Florida humidity this is a great plan. In the parks I go pretty much all day, BUT I have the option of stopping and resting and getting into A/C.

You didn't ask me, but I'll chime in :D

It doesn't make a difference to me. We plan on using Minnie Vans a lot this coming trip.

So, there are two takeaways from this discussion so far... reports from people who have actually done this walk and say in the afternoon it is extremely hot and may be difficult for young children and the older folks. And then there are those who haven't done this walk yet comparing it to other walks they have "enjoyed" at WDW and wondering what all the hoopla is about. I don't think anyone is saying the walk to and from the bus stop is littered with the dried skeletal remains of those who didn't make it, just simply that things have changed and maybe not for the better.

I'm talking about THE WALK not the stops. I said the stops are covered
People are comparing and complaining about the hot walk. I said how is the walk different. Where is the walk to a bus stop shaded?
Not the stop itself but the walk?

But if you can walk from MK entrance or Epcot entrance to the bus stop in the shade, that's great. I sure haven't found a way to do it

The difference people seem to be indicating is that after a long(ish) walk in the hot sun, you arrive to stand in the hot sun at the bus stop. There's no relief in addition to the walk being longer than it was before.

The last thing DHS needs are any more barriers to people wanting to go to this park.

There is no tram pick up by the new bus stop.

The drop off for Uber/Lyft is reportedly closer.

I would just like to reiterate that this current loop is temporary. A new shaded resort bus loop is well under construction as we speak.
Hopefully, well under way, means it will be done before too long! At least by February because we plan to make a bunch of trips to DHS. But at least in February it won't be as hot.

It makes a difference to me. That adds $60 each time I visit DHS. I've already paid a lot for the park ticket and the Disney hotel and will pay for a meal or two; paying another $60 (round trip) makes a difference.

Not arguing with you but $60 can make a difference to a lot of people - even those who have already paid off park tickets and the Disney Hotel.

Okay, okay... say $54. One can always tip less.

It may not be all that long but it still looks like triple the distance. Makes me happy we are staying at the Swan and Dolphin in a couple of months.

Agreed. I don’t care about the walk aspect of this argument—I can walk forever regardless of weather, but appreciate not everyone is like me. I figure BECAUSE I’ve paid park tickets, hotel, etc already, I am very reluctant to put out more for a Minnie van. $25 is a lot of money, especially figuring on my exchange rate. Out of principle I don’t really want to use the vans.

It does to me. $25 is half my daily budget for food while there.

I'll either be taking the boat to DHS or skipping it altogether on my next trip. This most recent news moves it closer to the skip column.

Alright first report. For those who don't know me from these boards I'm a huge DHS fan, it's actually my favorite park, my home park, I know it well and visit often (not getting into why is my favorite, I have a lot of personal connections to this park)
Parked at art of animation and took the bus over, the bus was full and i was standing right next to the driver, she immediately started telling me about the sw hotel, I moved the conversation towards the temporary loop. She said it'll probably take a year for the new one to be open (take that as it may) and that it'll have restrooms
Anyways going back to my love for dhs, ever since parking lot and skyline construction started I have been turned on my head when parking here, each time it's different, expanding and..... Ugly
That's the main difference between this and any other park. My walk from the AoA bus stop to the bag check was 8 minutes, i took my time, actually stopped to take a couple of pictures, I would say no longer than the walk from the bus loop at ak or Epcot. AoA bus stop is the furthest on one side, if you're on the other side I would add about 3-5 minutes to the walk. The problem is that you are walking on the parking lot surface, way hotter than a sidewalk surface, also the green wall blocking construction emits a lot of heat. So the walk is not longer just hotter and uglier. You have construction walls, construction noises and only a glimpse at the top of tower which makes the walk seem longer..
As for the bus stops themselves each has 4 umbrellas, along the wall the have several benches but those don't have any shade, I'm sure Disney will add umbrellas to those. I saw more than one person stop and sit for a minute. The current temperature is 94 degrees.
I will report back on my return trip to AoA later, now I have a fp to Star tours :)
For those coming I recommend an umbrella for shade and maybe some cooling towels for the heat. Hopefully our temps will start going down soon
I'll post pictures when i get back home

So, let me make sure I have this right.
Walk 8 miles (our avg) INSIDE the park, without shade, fine. Plenty of times these walks are 15, 20 min without stopping.
Walk extra 100, maybe 200 yards to the bus, and wait for the bus, without shade. Possibly spend $10 with Uber instead, deal breaker
Ok. Got it.
Hopefully, those of us willing to make the trek will find the FP for Slinky Dog easier to get.
