DH has been a regular visitor to WDW since he was 18,( next year he's 37) ;)I am trying to find a suitable restaurant for a birthday meal while we're there next year.He doesn't eat cheese or tomatoes, we'll be taking DS who will be 7 and we're open minded about character meals, just no fish/seafood(bad experiences in the past)Any suggestions are welcome (preferably not expensive) we have a few weeks before ADRs need making :listen: Thanks everyone :thumbsup2

if you fancy a fun character meal, i'd suggest chef mickeys (went there for our wedding meal) or crystal palace. both of these restaurants have a huge selection of food, and they normally spoil people on their special occasions

It depends on what sort of thing you want, if it is fun and frolics, then Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness lodge will be fun.

For character meal then Chef Mickey.

For a nice table meal with a view then maybe 'Ohana booked an hour or so before Wishes, to see it from the resturant.

Or, as a last suggesion, what about the Polynesian Luau if he has not done it.

:thumbsup2 Something fun but NOT embarrasing will be fine, we have had beakfast at Chef Mickey's twice, Crystal Palace lunch once when DS was a baby (bad trip) and back in '04 I surprised DH and we were "rehitched" at the Garden Grill (which was a little embarrasing but fun to do) and we ate dinner there...mmmmm even had a 6-8 person anniversary cake which we took back to our room ::yes:: ::yes:: We took a look at some pictures of food from different restaurants last night and were impressed at the food at Ohanna's (sp) Just wondering if DS will like it he is also a fussy eater (no gravy allowed on his food) but loves veg and meat!! :surfweb:
I think somewhere for lunch or dinner is ideal so we can enjoy the day in the parks, it will be a Sunday so we are going to try to avoid the busy parks that day (24th June) :wave2:

Have you thought about the Grand Floridian Cafe? The food is excellent, the surrounding is smart but not stuffy and they are well used to children running around. No characters but you will get to walk around the GF and enjoy the lovely grounds etc.

Do they do a good steak?? Don't want to risk the fish after last time we had some, I know that this restaurant is known for it's great staff and fab food but I think the steak would be DH's favourite for his birthday meal!:goodvibes And what's with everywhere doing mac'n'cheese on the kids menus ??We went to Liberty Tree Tavern a couple of years back and DS's plate was swimming in it even though he asked for the chicken which also came . I got him to try it but he was NOT impressed :lmao: :lmao:On a good note though they did the best burgers there...mmmm...

If you are looking for a good steak, i can reccomend Le Cellier in Epcot. I have two sons ages 2 and 7 and we are going there in October/November, they are really good with the kids and my oldest son loves their steak.

Will give it thought, could be good as long as everything isn't swimming in cheese :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Will look at their menu again :thumbsup2

To be honest I am the same, I do not like cheese or tomatos. Le Cellier is good, and there are some things with cheese, but they will make changes. It is also the same with CA Grill.

'Ohana does not have gravy btw.

Thanks Amrylin it's good to know :thumbsup2 Do you or any one else know if we can get a birthday cake at Le Cellier it would be great if I can arrange one when I make the ADRs I seem to recall they cost about $15-$20 from what I've read on these boards, DH has a great Grumpy mug from DLP wondered if they do cakes with favourite characters on them :goodvibes :goodvibes

The menu looks good can anyone tell me what to expect, we looked at allears.net but would love to read personal stories from families who have been recently, it will give us a better idea of what this place is like. Thanks :rolleyes1

Hi wifey,

We ate here last August and if you are a family that likes to have a bit of a laugh and not mind a bit of humiliation (nothing awful I promise!) then you will have a lot of fun.

I have to say the food was not the best meal we have had at WDW - by quite a long way! Still it was a lot of fun so that made up for it.

The milkshakes, it must be said, are to die for :thumbsup2

If I can help with anything specific please ask :)

Karen

How easy is it to find at the hotel? We will be staying off site so we will have to go from either the TTC or MK shuttle bus/ boat. It does sound fun :thumbsup2

It is super easy to find :thumbsup2

Get transportation to the WL (I love the boat) and follow the signs to the hotel's main lobby - WCC is just next to the main lobby and is open plan so you can't miss it :teeth:

Gotta say folks after further viewing of photos of the food we are VERY impressed at the WCC choices :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Looks like it could be between there and LTT still undecided :goodvibes

Hi there,

I have eaten at nearly all restaurants, except the fish ones, and if you want a nice surrounding to celebrate then try the CG. My wife organised my 40th Birthday meal there, and it was great. We used our DDE card and the cots was reasonable. If you want something cheaper then the Trails End Buffeteria at Fort Wilderness is well worth the journey and is very good value for money. Many others have suggested the Whispering Cannyon Restaurant and again this is a great fun place, if you do ask for Jethro or Kate to be your server. Both have been serving since it opened and they put lots of effort into the fun, Remember to ask for the ketchup!!!

Thanks will bear that in mind it looks like WCC may be our choice, just need to sort out our plans to work it in :goodvibes hopefully I have until Christmas to get all the major planning sorted and then make our ADRs :cloud9: :cloud9:
