We have 2 days planned for DHS in May. I want to get some things planned while I’m off over the holiday but I don’t know where to start.

How would you divide up DHS? We’ll be arriving at RD both days. I’m assuming we’ll spend half a day in GE.No droid depot or savi’s. The SW M&Gs are must do’s for the kids. As are the Incredibles characters (although it sounds like they are onlyseasonal). MMRR will be open and we’d like to do that depending on how FP/BP is working at that point.TSL is a must do. We will also ride the other Tier 1s and fill in with shows if there is time

So, acknowledging there is uncertainty in how FPs will work them and this may need to change, how would you divide the park for 2 days?

Probably a bit to early to give a definite answer, as I would want to see how MMRR plays out, and fastpass options may change. Right now, for one day, I would start in GE and ride Falcon (or if you are not fast enough for rope drop, the line for Falcon will be much less later in the day) and then quickly head over to TSL and ride aliens and TSMM. Ideally having a fastpass for SDD will help. Then you can probably stop by the Incredibles and SW meet and greets, as they are not super high priority. If boarding groups are still a thing, then wait on that for the remainder of the day while filling in with characters and shows. In addition, when done with your fastpasses, you could grab another fastpass for a TSL attraction that you missed or ToT or RnRc

For the other day, would have to see how MMRR plays out, but ideally rope drop that and have a fastpass for either RnRc or ToT. Following MMRR, head over to Sunset boulevard and knock off tower and RnRc. Then again, you can fill in with shows and grab RotR BG.

Hope that helps! Still have to wait to see how everything plays out. DHS seems like it could be done in one and a half days though!

Yes it’s helpful but I feel like that’s more than we can accomplish in one day. I feel like GE would be half a day of taking it in but maybe I’m wrong about that. Maybe I’ll try to do most of what you have but plan to do the M&Gs on Day 2.

You could return to GE and spend more time there when going to BG for RotR

I hope this comment isn't hijacking the thread, but complimentary. If it's hijacking, I apologize...

I haven't been in a few years to WDW, are the crowds at TSMM toned down from Slinky Dog and GE? I'm a SW Fanboy through and through, but the rest of the family is not. GE is not going to be a priority for our time there.

My name will be mud if we don't go through TSMM (a family favorite), but I really want to get to Slinky Dog and MMRR. The tier system is forcing prioritization (as well as the unknown of MMRR) I didn't want to figure out.

Thanks

You actually should be able to grab TSMM as a 4th fastpass now due to the tier system, as TSMM isn't as much of a high priority fastpass anymore compared to SDD, ToT, and RnRc.

OP, please note that there are no traditional character meet-and-greets in Galaxy’s Edge. There are characters who roam the land (Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, Rey, Stormtroopers, Vi Moradi); there are traditional meet-and-greets over at Star Wars Launch Bay.

You could always go back there following rope drop - I couldn't see anyone there for more than one or two hours (unless waiting in line) because there's not a huge amount to do there.

Really? That's sad. We spent hours in Diagon Alley.
Ok, if there's not much to see there, then that changes my perspective. Maybe I don't need 2 days in HS. It's probably going to depend on what they do with FPs. My FP day is 3/3 - so just before MMRR opens and probably before the picture on FP/BG is clear. Guess I'm going to have to be flexible...

Well I mean Diagon Alley is interactive with wands and stuff. You could spend a half day there, go to Oga's Cantina and there are some cool shops. It just depends how you want to prioritize stuff. There aren't any official meet and greets, but the stromtroopers walking around are pretty cool. The land will be pretty crowded.

ignore what I said earlier. There can be a lot to take in. The land has GREAT detail and there are sounds and there are great places to take photos

How many ticket days are you planning in total? Are you using Park Hoppers? SDD FP are hard to get unless you have a long stay. I just booked FPs for late Feb. I have 8 days total, but a split stay (so was only booking at 60+5). However, SDD was totally unavailable at 7AM when my window opened. We'll be ropedrop SDD one day, and MFSR a second day, with tier 1s for RNRC both days and hopefully 4ths for ToT... and yes - at least twice for RotR BGs! If you have hoppers and good strategy, you can do something different after both 1/2 days at DHS...

Everyone is very correct about MMRR potentially changing things, but I could see MMRR just being added as an additional tier 2 eventually given its capacity. I don't expect that Disney changed it all that much from the capacity of TGMR. At some point, I DO expect MFDR will open to FP+ as well sometime in the first half of this year - this might coincide with MMRR opening too, further confusing the current strategy.

You’re right that it’s about prioritization. We've been enough that we don't feel the need to run from attraction to attraction. We can soak up the new land if there are things to see. I still think it's kind of sad though that SW is such a huge universe and fandom and they didn't put more into the land. There isn't anything quite as ready made for interaction as wands, but they could still have had droid or creature animatronics like the goblin in the DA money exchange to interact with guests and it doesn't sound like there are any shows (like Tales of Beedle the Bard) other than stormtroopers and KR showing up sometimes. Disney invented Imagineering but I feel like Universal is doing it much better these days. It feels like Disney could have put a lot more into one of their flagship IPs. But I may feel differently after seeing the land.

We aren't doing hoppers so I don't have that kind of flexibility. But you're right that it's good to have more than one day to try for a BG (if they're still using the VQ then) and more than one day to try for SDD and MMRR if it has FPs. We have 6 park days so right now 2 MK days and 2 HS days with the second HS day as day 7 to maximize the chance of getting hard to get FPs.

They have often made changes to the FP system in early May - I assume because it's a slower time between Spring break and summer. I just fear that they'll make a change and release MMRR or MFSR some day when I'm not watching the boards and I'll miss them all. I have FP FOMO. :rotfl:

So I was thinking about this and if you take a look at the one day plan on Mouse Hacking, it seems fairly doable. I would rope drop TSL on the first day and then try to hit Sunset Boulevard (or have a FP for one of the rides and then try and grab a 4th fastpass for the other ride). Plan out the shows you want to see and the times. I would hit GE after 4, enjoy the land and then hop on Falcon when the wait is less than an hour (may be closer to park closing). And then of course your boarding group, which you would do whenever its called. The second day you could rope drop MMRR and then do anything that you missed from the previous day.

I put together a really rough plan but I think a lot is going to depend on whether or not RotR and/or MMRR have boarding groups or some other approach at that point. The good thing is that it would be pretty easy to switch a HS day to an MK day later in the process. But the FPs at HS may (or may not) be hard to get depending on what happens with Tiering. I think I'm just going to have to wait until it's closer to my trip.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I would plan a day (morning) for SWGE and another morning for TSL .. and then sorta fill in the blanks for the afternoons with other rides/attractions your family wants to do. When you count in the shows, there is a lot to do at DHS .. even in two days.

Just depends on what you want to do.

I think it also depends on what they will do with MMRR .. (Will it just start out with no Fast Passes, (like MFSR), or have boarding groups (like Rise) .. or just have normal Tier 1 FP?)

Take advantage of going there two days and try out two different places for dinner too (if Table Service Meals are in your budget).
