OMG!!! DH & I were watching Travel Channel and they were showing this bazillion dollar vacation home on Lake Tahoe. I commented that it looked kind of like WL and DH says "Are we staying there?" No, too expensive, I reply and he says, "What the ***, let's stay there."
It's going to be maybe $700 more on a trip that's already getting out of control. Is it really worth it? We had planned on CSR.

Convince me to say YES!!!

It really depends on were you are financially. I have stayed at both Coronado and Wilderness Lodge several times, and love them both, especially Wilderness Lodge. It truly is spectacular.

However, both hotels are wonderful and are true examples of Disney hotel theming hitting the nail on the head. I loved walking through Coronado at night, with the lake, fountains and lighted areas, it really is absolutly beautiful.

If it was me though, and $700 I would personally stick with Coronado Springs and spend the money on doing something amazing, like a behind the scenes tour, or dinner, etc. Its a personal decision though, and with the two options you have I don't think you can make a bad decision.

Well, we stay at the WL or Polynesian now no matter what. If we have to save and wait a bit longer between trips, then that's what we do. DH and I first stayed at CSR in 1998, then the GF on our honeymoon in 2000. Ever since that deluxe resort trip, we've been deluxe resort "snobs." I have booked us at the mods since then, but we always end up switching to WL or AKL or Polynesian a few months before. We love the ambiance, convenience and theming of the lodge. It's our FAVORITE, so I'll give you a big "YES" to go for it!

Hope this helps!

I don't think anyone else can say yes or no for you. For us if those were our two choices we'd take the WL. The only moderate we would consider staying at now is POFQ, the others are just too darn big. We probably won't go back again until we have the money saved to stay at WL.

What about splitting your stay? You could do the first part at CSR, the second part at WL. That way you are not spending too many extra $$$. :flower:

My girlfriend and I have the same problem (if only ALL our problems were this nice to have :earboy2: ).

We fell in love with the WL when we saw it on the WDW promo DVD, and after seeing the gushing reviews from other guests we really wanted to go this way when we're there next May.

However, we then noticed how nice CSR was/is and how much less it would cost us to go there. If the rooms had just 20 more square ft. and there was a nicer in-house dining experience it would probably BE a deluxe resort. It also has more efficient access to WDW transportation than WL does unless you're heading to the MK.

In the end it comes down to one thing, $$$$, hich is why I think we may end up doing CSR. We can spend an extra day, rent a car for the whole week, go to SeaWorld or Universal for a day we don't do Disney and STILL spend several hundred dollars less on our trip.

But if money wasn't an issue, we wouldn't even think twice about staying at WL.

We've never stayed at a moderate, but I can say that we do love Wilderness Lodge and the Villas at Wilderness Lodge! They are so relaxing - a great vacation experience!
