DH just sprayed hornet spray inside!!!!!!

It's that time of year where they are crazy. My dd opened a window that didn't have a screen on it, and a bunch of wasps flew inside (about 10 of them!) they were up in our 2 story foyer, where we couldn't get to them. DH then pulled out some Raid Wasp and Hornet Spray, and gave them a few squirts. Thankfully, they all died, and there is nothing more in the house. But, I am so mad that he sprayed that stuff INDOORS!!!!

I have all the windows open, and the fans going. He didn't spray much...just about 3 quick squirts, but I can still smell it a bit. He thinks I'm being paranoid. I called the company, and of course confirmed my thought that it is for OUTDOOR use only. Now I'm even MORE paranoid!!!

Anyone else done this? I know it's harmful, but HOW HARMFUL is it? Am I freaking out for nothing? Should I get everyone out of the house? Pets, etc?

Just keep a few fans goin' and keep the windows open to exchange the air.

Be careful pickin' up those dead ones, they seem to be able to sting even after death.

I've been spraying outdoor bug spray in my house for years, for bees, wasps, ants, whatever ...no issues or side effects here. As long as there is ventilation I wouldn't be super upset or worried. Warnings are there so that the one person who would try to fumigate their whole house with a can and keep it all closed up won't sue them when they get sick because of doing it. 3 quick squirts is nothing.

Oh yeah..since you are worried, take advantage of the situation and tell DH you need to go out to eat since you can't cook in a house that has outdoor use bug spray in it and then you need to go to the mall or something...that sounds like a good plan to me.

I'm no dummy. I sucked 'em up with a vaccum!

I've got as many ceiling fans and open windows going as I can. I must have a nose like a bloodhound, because I can smell it still!! rrrgh.

I just hope we're not poisoning ourselves. If I don't post in the next few days...send out the troops to check on us.

I would have flipped out too, because I'm pretty paranoid about chemicals. But I'm pretty sure you'll be just fine, as long as you air the place out well. I doubt it is any more harmful than residual bug bomb fumes. Glad he got 'em. I'm SO scared of wasps, I probably would have grabbed up my kids and abandoned the house to them.

I've sprayed the stuff indoors too. In my bedroom as I don't want to get near them in case I don't score a direct hit... Yeah it smells but it's something I can use where I can blast one in the window from the bedroom door.... Less chance of being stung.

My grandma always sprayed it inside for as long as I can remember. None of us died from it. She was 75 when she passed and grandpa was 77. Not the best smell but not deadly. Well except to the bees and such.

When I was much younger, I was away from the family for a weekend. I came home ot find my sister had sprayed some checmical all over my bedroom ceiling because some spiders hatched and were crawling across it.

So she sprayed chemicals all over my room, instead of just smooshing them.

So I feel for ya!
