DH just became an Owner's Locker believer!

IThe only problem with this method is that we will still need to buy Milk and H2O from Disney.

I've heard several people mention keeping a Brita pitcher and filters in their OL which would cut down on water cost, although I'd imagine you'd want to use a new filter each time as putting it away wet for storage may encourage some unpleasant things to grow...

We love our OL and we drive down every year so we're not restricted on the quantity of stuff we can bring, although with the car full of kids there's not all "that" much luggage space. I love having a complete first aid kit with character band-aids and all the accompanying first aid stuff, full-size scissors, batteries, glow sticks, big bottles of my own toiletries, swim diapers, baby wipes, pool toys, coffee filters, sippy cups, a potty seat (the youngest two are still convinced they'll fall into the big potty without it) and of course my extra-special-only-to-be-used-at-Disney coffee mug. Our list is extensive and I'm surprised we fit it all into one box! Of course, DH tossed in a roll of duct tape because he's a guy and that's what they do... :lmao:

We do plan on eventually flying down instead of driving and I look forward to the convenience of our OL.

I think that might sell me on it...if I can get stuff in there this year and not take it home, then maybe we can justify the expense by giving us more car space :) and eventually luggage space when we start flying more than driving. Thanks all and thanks to Annie for the idea about Costco and water!

Not that anyone's asked... :lmao: but here's a list of what's in our OL. We stay at DVC so have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. A friend of mine who drives pretty much every trip just got her first Locker last month and she's extremely happy with it.

I love it because I never have to unpack and re-store all that Disney-only stuff. Ponchos, fans, Disney clothes I wouldn't be caught dead wearing in the real world ;), etc. Packing is SO much easier now!

We tend to look at our Lockers as time savers versus money savers, but I do think in the long run we'll save money, too. Another thing I think about is the green aspect - much less packaging waste because we're using full-size toiletries versus travel sizes, using our Brita to fill up aluminum water bottles versus using bottled water, etc. Everything makes a difference! :goodvibes

It's really amazing how much stuff will fit in a Locker (or two :))! Actually, my full list is here http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33182023&postcount=20 if you're interested.

Just wanted to let you know that you can get cases of water delivered (shipped) from Costco to your resort. They run about $7 each including the tax & shipping (which takes 2 days). You can order it online & it will be waiting on you at bell services with your box that you ship down!!:thumbsup2 That's what we do when we use DME and don't get a grocery delivery.

Thank you Anal Annie. At $7 it does seem reasonable, and I had thought about it. However when you add the $5 storage fee that Disney is now charging, I'm not sure that it's worth $12 per case of H2O over just buying it from Disney.

The $5 is not at all of the resorts - only the convention ones....and if you find 24 bottles of water to buy from Disney for less than $12 let me know where you find it!!

Well, unfortunately we will usually be staying at BLT, which is a convention hotel.

Also, I was told that you can buy gallons of water at the resort stores for about $2-$3 per gallon. This works out to be cheaper than bottled water. The $12 works out to be about $.03 per ounce ($12/405.6 oz), where as a gallon at $3 is about $.02 per ounce ($3/128 oz). It dosen't seem like that much of a difference until you figure that a case of H2O is 405.6 oz. So the same about of H2O bought as gallons would cost about $8, so if it were not for the $5 holding fee the bottled H2O would be cheaper.

You are correct that there will be a handling charge for whatever you ship to BLT given that CR does the receiving and CR is a convention resort. Is it just $5? I thought it went by weight rather than a flat fee.

As for the water, you are also correct on that. A gallon bottle of Zephyrhills water is $2.95 at the resort market.

To My Disneyboyz

Wow...thank you for the list...that gives me ideas on how much stuff I drag along or might want to drag along and how I could just keep it down there year round...

Thanks!

Thanks Tara! I think I'm seeing the benefit now.... I wonder if it would be possible to have the bin delivered to a non DVC resort but a regular disney hotel instead. We're staying in a regular disney room this upcoming visit so we can use all our points next year in a bigger DVC room. I'd love to get started on my bin this year but I'm not sure if they deliver to non DVC resorts like POR?

They deliver to over 200 resorts within a 10 mile radius of WDW. They're an Orlando area service, not just a WDW service. :goodvibes

You can get all the info on their site:
http://www.ownerslocker.com/locations/

On a completely unrelated note, they just started offering stroller rentals as well and OL members get a 20% discount ( http://magicstrollers.com ). Looks like Orlando Stroller Rentals has some competition as the discount makes it quite a bit cheaper for the same stroller...

Yes, I think that is going to be a great service for families!! And what a great discount:thumbsup2 We dont need them anymore but if we did we would definitely take advantage:wizard:

 I wear my Disney clothes at home all the time!! Is that wrong?? Is that why all those people are staring at me?:scared: :rotfl: Am I supposed to be embarrassed that I love Disney and hide it from the rest of the world?? :confused3

Hey, who cares what anyone else thinks!! ;) If it makes you happy, go for it! :goodvibes

I don't wear a ton of Disney stuff at home (unless you count things like watches or some jewelry), but I have one particular Mickey shirt that gets smiles and comments like, "Oh, I love Mickey Mouse!" whenever I wear it.

Wow...awesome so I could start my box on this trip so I have it set for my next trip next year....

I like the stroller offer too! Thank you for the info!!!

I'm not embarrassed that I love Disney, but there are some things that just work at Disney (like a brightly colored patchwork madras plaid sundress with Mickeys embroidered all over it) that I'd never wear anywhere else. That's about my choice and my sense of style, not because of what anyone else would think. I do what works for me. I encourage other people to do what works for them and not care what anyone else thinks.

Tara....I just read your caption under your name and laughed. You are a bad influence...lol...I'm going to end up spending money and getting a Owners Locker. I'm sure I'll be thanking you in the end though....lol.

Dumb question though...I was reading the rules on their site and it says that after you sign up and schedule your first visit, " Your yearly storage/delivery plan is not charged until your Locker comes back into the warehouse filled for the first time. This date then becomes your Anniversary Date for your yearly storage/delivery plan."

Does this mean that if I visit Disney every year at the same time, let say Nov 28 to Dec 6 that my next visit to disney would be the second visit in one year because my aniversary date is Dec 6? Sorry...I guess I'm a little thick today and not understanding this... - would this visit be my first visit and then since I'm coming back on Nov 28 again next year it would be two visits in one Anniversary year (starts Dec 6)?

Hi Mlissa88
I'll jump in...

Your initial Visit (that's what we call a delivery and pickup) is a part of the Membership Fee.

So, using your dates, your Nov 28-Dec 6, 2009 trip would be covered by the Membership Fee. December 6 would become your Anniversary Date and you year (sort of like a use year) would run from Dec 6, 2009-Dec 5, 2010.

During that period your $99 yearly fee would include one free Visit (or with The DIS promotion, you'd have two free Visits in that window).

I hope this makes sense. If you'd rather chat, we're at 800 431 6588
Thanks for considering Owner's Locker!

I try to look at it as my patriotic duty in our country's time of financial need. ;)

Not dumb at all. In fact, I never noticed this little twist with regard to anniversary date. My anniversary date is in fact the last date of my trip last November. (Which means I will get 4 trips out of one year!)

Yes, if you would have 2 visits within your first use year in the scenario you described above.
