DH is weaker today

So sorry to hear this...I would definately call the DR. and do everything in my power to expidite results and be seen sooner and be seen by specialists!!!

You have to be a strong advocate and be persistant!!

DH was seen by some specialists in the hospital, and the best consensus was drug-induced myopathy, caused by either his crestor or by colchicine, which he had been told to take for gout flareups. When his knee hurt in December, the ER doctor assumed it was gout, and told him when it hurt he should take 1 colchicine an HOUR until he got diarhhea (sp?). So he's been taking more of that; previously, during a flareup he only took one a day.
If it is drug induced myopathy, it will take a couple of weeks to get back to normal, but we should not be backtracking. The dr. mentioned GB last week, but I thought with all the tests we did it was ruled out (he had an MRI, an EMG, a chest X ray and a RA screen).
I called the dr. again and the nurse said they were waiting on the reports from the hospital. She was very concerned when I mentioned how week DH was last night. Meanwhile I'm kind of cooling my heels and I guess DH was right, I could have worked today if he doesn't get into the DR!
He is supposed to get a colonoscopy on Wednesday, but is going to cancel it--he has heard that during the prep. time you need to go to the bathroom a lot (sparing the details) and he can't run back and forth to the bathroom. He does want me to pick him up a knee brace later to see if that helps.

I just helped DH go to the bathroom--I bought him a knee stabilizer at the store and he thought it helped a little but he is so much worse than when he went into the hospital--I think the best thing would be for them to readmit him until he can get around or they figure this thing out. He felt really warm to me too, although he said it takes a lot of energy to get that 10 feet or so--It is so sad, he's such an active guy it depresses the crap out of me.

hope he feels better.
Have they done a lymes test. Some of the symptoms for it are odd.

My dad had something similar happen. He ended up with neurological damage from pernicious anemia (B12 deficiency). His red blood cell count was fine, so they didn't catch it right away. When they tested for B12, it was very low.

Hope your DH gets stronger soon. Good luck!

Good thoughts and prayers for a speedy diagnosis and recovery. :flower3:

It might not be a bad idea to take your DH to your doctor, appointment or not, and let him see the condition he's in. If he wasn't like that when they discharged him they need to know there's been a change for the worse. :scratchin

Robin, I think that's a good idea. Hang in there.

Sorry DH is not any better. I hope they determine what his illness is soon. I can imagine how it must worry you both. I have a good friend who was very
ill and after many tests ruling out everything possible, determined it was GBS. They believe it was drug induced from some meds she was prescribed for a virus. I will keep your DH and family in my prayers. Keep the faith ^i^.

The waiting is so hard. The best thing you can do is keep on them at the doctor's. The more you call and continue to push for a definitive diagnosis, the better off you'll be. Believe me, as someone with neurological problems, I've been there many times. Good luck to you and your DH. :grouphug:

My thoughts are with you, your DH and family. Please keep us posted on how he is doing. :grouphug:
