DH is a mailman...neither snow nor rain-Jan '11 TR (UPDATE 3/31)

I always read with the intention of just reading & not commenting but then I can't help myself!!!

I am enjoying your trip so far--though it took me a minute to realize that your chapter links are backward:rotfl:

Your patience with the snow delay should have been rewarded with at least an on flight beverage!

YES! but then I looked at the apples and though -holy crow does that say $9.95 for a candy apple? OUCH!:scared1: is that considered a snack item? :lovestruc I love candy apples

Your girls are cutie pies, even the "funja face" shot with the milkman. TOo funny!!!:lmao:

You'll be seeing my comments pop up, all at the end one after th other sorry, I am reading while at work so can't get all thoughtful by editing one message:rolleyes1

BTW We are from PA also (Lehigh Valley) and have done WDW twice in January - LOVE the low crowds (even the huge groups of south american teens but that's another story) but the mystery weather (hot, cold, somewhere in between) has inspired us to our upcming May vacation

Nearly everyone has safari pictures, so I am only going to include ones that I feel not everyone has (and some great ones that others might have- I really can't help myself...)

.......
I am beginning to lose any creative flair so I will stop here for now. I will pick up with the AMAZING Flights of Wonder show!
I am so enjoying your pics. I have not done the walk through on this side -- I may have to extend my AK plans, much to DHs dismay:laughing:

Hello MaryEllen!

Just wanted to add that the Caramel Apples included as a snack credit are the cheaper, non-decorated ones, I believe...not the $9.95 ones that look like Minnie Mouse, etc.

Thanks Marshay...my brain is fried from school and wouldn't have been able to say that... I will let you know about two months out our Jan dates...I would love to know ahead, but dh can't get approval before that 60 mark. 51 days for your next trip...lucky you! We are about 131 out, I think.

$10 is steep for a candy apple, but I think I spent 10 last summer on this beauty...certainly better than the plain ones!

Mary Ellen, Welcome fellow Pennsylvanian!!!
I look forward to reading your comments! I try not to lurk since I love when people post on my trip reports.

Great souvenirs that you came home with. I know I am going to have such a problem with shopping. I might need to take an extra suitcase with me :rotfl:. I have been so good about not spending money for this trip, that I fear I am going to go crazy and binge shop!

I have enjoyed your trip report so much, especially your pictures!! I also have a Canon Rebel & was wondering which lens/lenses you bring with you and which gorillapod you use?? We take our next trip in May & I am trying to plan out what I will pack. Any recommendation on a camera bag? Mine is rather large, I think the last trip I just wrapped it up in a fleece jacket...but need to rethink that for this trip:scared1: LOL! Thank you so much:yay:

Hi There :) I just read through your whole trip report and I liked it a lot! Very very amazing pictures!! Especially your safari and the flights of wonder pictures! And those Magic Kingdom area foggy morning photos. They're all so nice and zoomed in and close. Really really beautiful!

And also I just wanted to let you know that the links for "Day 2 - Part 3 AK" and "Day 2 - Part 3 OKW arrival" are linked to pictures instead of your updates. And "Morning Adventures at HS (which really means three rides)" isn't showing up. Since the report is done/almost done? i don't know if you want to bother fixing it now. But I thought I'd let you know :yay:

Thanks for sharing your story!! I really enjoyed it :flower3:

nice buys!!! I'm sad that your trip is over so soon :(

Thanks! Me too- especially since we are back in the 30's in PA :sad2:

I wait to buy stuff and note where it was in case I want to go back to get it. It helps me from buying on impulse! (But you may want an extra suitcase...:thumbsup2)

Thanks Kelly. The biggest issue for me with the camera is the bulk of it. It takes such great photos, but carrying it- UGH! I own two camera bags. The Lowpro Slingshot 102 and Crumpler 4 million dollar bag, but I don't carry either in the park... :confused3

I pack all my gear in the Lowpro to take to Florida...camera two lenses (nifty fifty and telezoom), charger, tripod, point and shoot, charger for it.

I keep the crumpler thinking I will use it someday, but it is a crossbody bag and I just don't like it. I like the idea of it.

Both bags were highly recommended here on the boards and elsewhere.

Now, to answer your question...I carry a Vera Bradley (Yellow Bird) small backpack. I can fit my camera, both lenses, tripod, a light sweater, phone, and small snacks. It is an older style with the zipper in the front, which is where I keep our tickets and room keys. (I don't always take the tripod, or both lenses... the bag gets heavy.) I really like that I can wear it as a backpack and be hands free (except when I have the camera out.)

Vera's new small backpack has a different front with a magnet so I recommend the Stephanie Dawn back pack. (It is a former Vera employee who still manufactures in the US.)

I just exchanged a big heavy tripod that I received as a gift for the gorilla pod- I think it is the Joby. It was $40 at the camera shop, so you should get it cheaper elsewhere. I have an older compact tripod (it's less than 5 pounds), but I thought I'd try the gorilla. It is a good compliment to what I have--it is great for the trash cans at Disney! I like my other tripod because the legs drop to stand around 5 ft.

Thank you! :goodvibes Also, thank you for telling me about the links...I will be correcting them shortly. I am home from school today with strep, and I am starting to have a bit more energy. (I didn't even have enough energy yesterday to be on the Dis :scared1:)

So, here are the winning T-shirts that my very picky daughters decided were fashionable enough to wear.

Emma wore hers to school today (with a gray and black cheetah skirt and black leggings) It is cross between maroon and purple:

Hannah's isn't as sharp as the picture indicates. The colors are more muted...

Soon, I hope to start my PTR. After having a sore throat Fri night and Sat., I went to the minute clinic at the pharmacy to learn what I suspected - I have strep. (I am luckily very infrequently sick!) The antibotic is helping, and I am home sick today. I really thought I would make it in today, but woke up with a fever and was so sluggish, I knew I couldn't manage. After a couple extra hours sleep, I am at least able to play on the Dis. (I couldn't even manage that yesterday!)

The girls sure have great taste - love both them shirts :thumbsup2

I'm sad to hear you are feeling sick  Hope you feel better soon

Just ordered the Lowepro sling, figured I would give that one a go on our May trip!! Thanks for answering all of my ?'s
Kelly:cool2::cool1:

I hope you feel better!!!!!

I'm glad to see that another PTR will be started soon! Will you do it within this TR or have a separate one?? I'll be on the look out for it either way!!!!

The shirts are really cute!
I'm sorry you are sick!!! Strep is going around at my school, too, right now. Feel better soon!!!

So sorry to hear you have strep...that's a bad one....the one and only time I had it I was down and out for days... Hope you're feeling much better!!

Love both the shirts...it's funny how they get to that age where they don't want to wear Disney stuff (Jasmine was exactly the same) but it does come back!!!!

Ugh -- strep! So sorry to hear this.

When will spring arrive??

Love the shirts, esp the purple one -- cool!

You are so welcome...have you checked out the photography forum? The folks over there are fantastic and extremely helpful.

I hope you feel better!!!!!

I will post the link. I am feeling a bit better- being sick is tiring!

Hope you feel better soon, Debby!

The shirts are very cute -- I really like the purple one!

Thanks! I think the purple photographs better; the black isn't as harsh as it seems.

Thanks. I am getting better- our attendance hasn't taken a hit, so I don't think it is too bad in my school. Even though I shouldn't be contagious, I have been using hand sanitizer every couple of minutes. Make sure you use it to keep those germs away from you!

Feel better soon Debby!

Thanks Wendy! How are you??

I am excited for them to want to wear different T-shirts like the cool kids ...Jess and Kristen style - those non-frumpy girls!

I am getting better.

Ahhh, spring...snow in tonight's forecast for us!

The sun would certainly help heal me!
