DH is a mailman...neither snow nor rain-Jan '11 TR (UPDATE 3/31)

Beautiful pictures, as always! Was the castle show amazing? I can't wait to see it in Sept. Did the girls get soaked on Kali? I've only done it a few times but it seems every time, I was in the "lucky" spot! Oh man, that sea of blue ponchos!! I know that "sea" quite well...not necessarily of blue ponchos but some matching bright t-shirt and a leader with a flag!

Your castle pictures are amazing! You mentioned that Snow White's Scary Adventures was closing - do you happen to know when? I am thinking we have probably already had our last ride on that one. It was dated, but I always enjoyed it anyway.

I have actually not seen any pictures from the new castle show, so those were really interesting to see. It's really neat what they can project onto the castle!

Cute pictures in front of the castle. :goodvibes

I am glad that the girls got to go on Kali before you had to leave. I hope that we don't see too many tour groups when we go there, I have heard all sorts of horror stories about them.

I can't wait to see the magic the memories and you show at MK. On the youtube videos I have watched it looks spectacular, I can only believe it is even more breath taking in person. I also agree with you when I heard the news that they were projecting photos onto the castle I thought that it was a terrible idea. In my mind I had an image of it being like, watching your great aunts slide shows, I am sure you have experienced something similar. I should have had more faith in Disney.

I am sorry this is your last day. So sad, but there is always next time to plan :cool1:.

We haven't had issues with the tour groups; I guess we zig when they zag... I think EMH help with avoiding them too. I think getting a bunch of 15 year olds out of a hotel in the early AM wouldn't be easy!

I am so ready to reveal plans--they have been underway!

I had never seen the new castle show....and I had a hard time trying to imagine how it would look...I thought it looked great! The pictures of all of you in front of the castle are great....beautiful!! I can't believe this is almost over:sad1: Can't wait to see what you went home with.....I have to remember to take pics on this upcoming trip of sourvenirs...I never remember to do that:confused3

You should google the show and see it...it is cool! I would be sad too, but with that new trip over the horizon... I was glad I took the shots--of course I miss a couple of items.

Love the pic of Lady Devine - how cool that you got to see her without even searching! :thumbsup2

Am also glad the girls got to ride Kali again before all those blue ponchos made it in to the line. The castle show with pictures looks awesome - wasn't sure what to expect but am looking forward to seeing it.

The firework pics look great even with the man in the hat blocking the view :lmao:

Love the family shots in front of the castle - am looking forward to hearing what you brought home with you.

Thanks! You will enjoy the castle show; it is very cool. man in the hat...Now, if he was the man in the yellow hat... (Curious George reference...) :lmao:

how sad it's over already :( You took some great castle pics!

Thank you! PTR will be coming up!

:sad2:

I imagine the matching shirts were under the ponchos and a flag was somewhere in the crowd! (If not, maybe the amazing CM at Flights of Wonder borrowed it... I love the tour guide CM in the show...she is a hoot!

The girls didn't get wet the first go round, but the lady in the spot where I would have been didn't have a dry spot on her. :sad2: The second ride was much more successful - the girls were drenched!

I think it will stay open until 2012 / 2013--when the expansion begins to open... I haven't read any firm dates. We enjoy it too...some classics are still cool.

You'll have to google it or look on inside the magic for the video...so cool. They might have it loaded on this site...I don't remember which podcast I saw it on.

Thanks--they were fun to take.

I'm loving all the castle pictures! Those shots of you and H and then the whole family are just too cute! So glad you guys hung around to work on that tripod! :lovestruc

Ah, the tour groups.... I'm with you - I think hitting early EMH is helpful. I also think if you can avoid late EMH you can dodge them, too. Like you said, a big group of teenagers... ;)

I'm so sad it's almost over! What will I do on my study breaks now??

I just noticed that you had a TR going & when I get over here it is about finished! :guilty:
Please do not let me miss when you start your PTR!

I have caught up in this one.
The weather ya'll had to drive in to the airport was crazy!
The girls looks so beautiful in their Christmas picture you have posted in the introduction. Their hair looks so pretty!
The girls also looked so cute when they were 3. I love the Chip & Dale story.
I cannot believe your girls went swimming during your trip. It has to be at least 90 degrees outside before I get in a pool.
You pics of Hannah & your family in front of the lit up castle were great!

I think it is fun to try to get the "best shots." Let's see activities for your study breaks...write a ptr, read my ptr... ;)

I'll be starting PTR soon... where will your family spend this summer's vacation?

I loved my girls curly hair when they were little...crazy curls. I am sad that they are gone, but I think they will come back. Their hair is messy looking ten minutes after brushing it due to the wave/ curl underneath.

I didn't say I went swimming...;) The girls will swim if it is 50 in Disney...:scared1:

So, it was time to go. We had to catch our magical express bus at 7:15 am...boo. We arrived at the airport and went to our typical wait around location and ate our breakfast.

The girls were super thrilled to have their "dogs" from checkout at OKW

We went to security to learn that we were on the wrong side. :confused3 so, we made our way over to the correct side. (We've always from United, so flying SW was different...)

We had a delay and had to wait an additional 30 minutes...we were really hopping that Phila would have an additional snow storm and we would be stuck in Orlando...:rotfl: Alas, it was not to be (we received a snowstorm two days later.) We safely made it home.

Up next souveniers...

I bought my nephew (who had yet to be born at the time)...

his first Mickey shirt

1174978505_vyLwn-L.jpg

A 40th T for dh, a new trip planning journal for me, and some pencils to remind me of my favorite place!

1174979043_VEq4v-L.jpg

I started to get a little crazy with these...it was oddly enough astart to an addiction. I was feeling the packs to get the ones I wanted. For example, I knew Emma loved Kali, so I had to get it. I wanted a tree, to match it, etc... We have these on a shelf in the kitchen. (We don't have Disney decorations anywhere (except a little Minnie on the TV (kinda hidden), but I needed to put them somewhere.)

1174979367_Fqiem-L.jpg

H and E bought new journals and E the giant pencil...

1174979907_tvJCs-L.jpg

I just couldn't walk away from these...but I did give one to my friend's daughter to thank her for caring for our cats (along with a gift card for my friend. They are going to Disney in May for their first trip.) I did want both, but I decided I liked the orange and yellow as the navy Mickey looked nicer with those colors...I really couldn't justify both bags...heck, I don't need the one. I carry a Vera Miller bag as my pool bag...

1174980330_NDGri-L.jpg

The girls bought these at Basin...

1174980810_jbmBL-L.jpg

I bought this key chain to hook my school keys to my car keys...

1174981445_Kphk3-L.jpg

A spoon rest for my coffee spoon...

1174981839_pAL9c-L.jpg

I also bought a really cool shirt at AK, but it was sooo small. I returned it.

The girls wanted T-shirts at the TOT dump shop. Their shirts were not the kid sized. They were junior sized- small and medium. Perfect sense as to why my shirt didn't fit...the skinny nine year olds wear a sm/med; no way I would fit into a large!

I will have to get pics of these shirts...they wear them at least once a week. Dh and I were excited to get them Disney Tees. (Even if you have to know Disney to know that the shirts are Disney!)

Closing time, open all the doors
And let you out into the world
Closing time, turn all of the lights on
Over every boy and every girl
Closing time, one last call for alcohol
So finish your whiskey or beer
Closing time, you don't have to go home
But you can't stay here
(Matchbox 20, I think)

That song just went through my head immediately when I was reading about your departure morning... :rolleyes1

I love that 40th t-shirt you got for DH - it is very cool! My DH would even wear that one. Where did you find it? I also am very interested in where you got the Mickey-ears spoon rest. I need a spoon rest next to my coffee pot and a red one would look awesome! What a clever way to incorporate Disney fun into the house.

Let me know when you start your next PTR. I might start one closer to time - I'm just not sure if I have that much interesting to say!

If only that snowstorm had arrived two days earlier...did it not know you wanted to extend your stay in Disney World!! :rotfl:

Love your nephew's first Mickey shirt and all the rest of your purchases! :thumbsup2 Am sad your TR has come to an end but yay on being able to plan another trip. Would also love to hear all about your new plans so let us know when you start! :)

We've gotten a few packages of the little figures, too. It's fun for Brooklynn to guess what's inside and then open them up to find out.

Basin - a souvenir from there is always fun.
And fragrant. :)

I almost bought the spoon rest. I held it and put it down, held it and put it down, and finally, just didn't pick it back up. I was thinking of getting it as a souvenir for someone, but I wasn't sure how much time she spent in the kitchen, so I opted for something else. I might just get it for myself next time. ;)

Thanks for sharing your fun purchases. Disney shopping is the best!

Great souveniers!! I love those little decorations!! I did the same thing a few years ago with a t-shirt...Jasmine ended up with it!!:lmao:

Hey there! Haven't commented in a while, but so sad it's over!!! :( Great report though! Awesome souveniers!! :thumbsup2 Can't wait for your next TR!!!!

Love all the souvenirs!!! I really can't wait to go and add to our stash of Disney stuff!

I have one of those "just curious" questions. Does only one of your girls wear glasses or does the other one just not like wearing her glasses?

I love that song! We bought T-shirt at MouseGears. Dh actually shops in Disney...he enjoys deciding what to buy...and sometimes has to make sure he doesn't overspend. :rotfl:

I think the spoonrest was only in blue (it doesn't match my kitchen at all; I might spray paint it black now that I think about it. Then, it will match the coffee maker!)

I don't know what I have to say for our PTR... I think I've done most of the planning already. I guess I can just type it out over a five month span.

Hello! Welcome back. How was your trip? I did the same thing with the spoon rest, but finally decided I would have regreted not getting it.

Great souveniers!! I love those little decorations!! I did the same thing a few years ago with a t-shirt...Jasmine ended up with it!!:lmao:

Crazy that the junior shirts are soooo small.

Thanks for hopping back over and reading!

I have one of those "just curious" questions. Does only one of your girls wear glasses or does the other one just not like wearing her glasses?

It is awful; I feel like I have to buy stuff to take the emotions home. I need to make sure I have enough to sustain me until the next trip! I think Dh feels the same...

Only Emma wears glasses, and most of the time in Disney she is without them. She is farsighted so she really only needs them for reading. Although, her vision is pretty bad. One eye is much weaker than the other and she had to patch to correct her amblyopia (incorrect term - lazy eye).

The other might need reading glasses in the future. When the one got glasses the other was quite jealous. :sad2: I wear contacts for my nearsightedness. Dh has perfect vision... not sure where the farsightedness came from. :confused3

(Emma was the one who had the hemangioma too - I've learned multiple new medical terms being her mom! :goodvibes )

I loved looking at all your souvenir pics! You & the girls really picked up some cute things.

I'll be starting PTR soon... where will your family spend this summer's vacation?

We will probably go to beach a couple of times. I wish I could say Disney!

oops, I forgot. We rode Snow White's Scary Adventures due to its eminent closure...

1174931376_bnHmm-L.jpg

And then we park hopped to... ???

yeah! I finally got to see the new entrance slogan!

Next trip- I have to make getting a spot a priority!!!

Dh and girls went to ride more rides and I headed to Main Street Bakery to use credits. I picked up four sandwiches, pastries, and drinks. and chips.. We had pasteries for breakfast and took the sandwich to the airport. (We ate it for lunch on the plane ride home. This really is a great way to have a little bit of MK on the way home...)

The four sandwiches fit together as a giant round sandwich...I wish I took pictures...???

My last update will be travelling home, and souveniers!

Love all the castle and pics of your family in front of it! It sounds like you had a lot of fun walking around on your own while the girls rode. Nice that you can do that and that you do! You take wonderful pictures!

I always get a Caramel Apple for the ride home or to eat the next day. It's sort of my "ok, our Disney trip is over but I'm still eating something that was just made there yesterday so part of me is still vacationing at Disney!"

Love the pics from the DHS gift shop. I will definitely have to look in there.

I'm looking forward to our January trip with low lines!! It would be awesome to see you there. Let me know if/when you are going.

Now I really want to see these TOT shirts the girls got!:goodvibes
