DH started having a dental :scared1: problem today and we are at VWL. Not that we don't love it here, but our wonderful dental team is located in PA.

Have any of you out there had a similar situation, and where did you find good dental services? Please :worship: give us your tips ASAP. We have to have him checked/treated tomorrow since as we grow closer to the holiday it will probably be more difficult.

OMG I hope that you find some help.
Are you sure it is dental and not a sinus issue pressing on the nerves in the jaw/face area? if that is the case you can call the doc at home for a near by pharmacy. There is a treatment center at Celebrations that the hotel can assist with information.

If he can tolerate Asprin I always keep Bayer on hand for dental issues. If at a total loss call the dentist at home and see what they think. If he has been steady there they may have an idea.

I mentioned the sinus because my first trip I picked up something and cried like a baby with pain. I rememberd bringing a bottle of my pretreat meds for dentist and it got me through with asprin until I got home a few days later.

Hope he is feeling better soon.

I could recommend our dentist, but we're near Disneyland, the other Disney. Maybe a WDW local can give you a recommendation.

I don't know what would be best for an emergency visit, but here are some of the locals:

Everyone loves Dr. Nelson:

I use these guys: Celebration Dental Group 407-566-2222
They have two locations - one on Front Street in town and one at Celebration Health

Dr. Khan - five minutes up 417 off at John Young. 407-240-1500

Good luck - hope you find someone who can help!

:)

I use Celebration Dental Group also. As the PP mentioned, they have two locations, one in downtown Celebration and the other in the main building of the Celebration Hospital. Call them at 407-566-2222.

One of our friends had a dental problem while visiting at Disney. She needed attention and went to the front desk of her hotel and asked for advice. Disney was very accomodating. They gave her the name of a dentist. The dentist saw her right away and she was quite satisfied and enjoyed the rest of her trip pain free.

This is what I was going to suggest.

Good luck!

What sort of dental problem? If you're near the end of your trip, there are lots of short-term solutions if you'd prefer to wait until you get home.

Agreed. I always travel with Fixodent just in case a cap falls off unexpectedly. If your dh has an abcess or something starting he should be able to call his regular dentist and have a prescription called in to FL.

My suggestion as well. I know this can't be the first time Disney has had a guest with this issue. I'm sure they have a list a mile long of various doctors/dentists/urgent care centers, etc.

Hee! My dad lost his cap/veneer our last family vacation in Florida. Hilarious to remember him looking through all of his food at Medieval Times trying to find it. :rotfl2:

We got one of those temporary fix kits at a local drugstore and went on with our vacation and he got it fixed when we got home.

We had a similar experience a few years ago. DH had a root canal before our trip and sometime in the early part of our trip he started to experience loads of pain and problems. We had to call the house doctor who came over and prescribed pain meds. That was a hefty $ visit.

As that didn't really help we had to find a doctor in the area who was 1) open as it was like Dec 23, 2) accepted our insurance, and 3)had an opening. I then had to rent a car from the S&D and picked up the family at OKW. I don't know where we went but I think it may have been in Orlando. DH commented that it wasn't the cleanest and that there were cats all over the place but they did the job right.

He did try to muster through the pain the first few days of our trip using pain meds and Orajel, but it didn't help. If it comes down to it call around and see who's open and takes your insurance. HTH.

DH knew exactly which tooth was involved, and I ruled out sinus problems, ect. I figured it was abscess or a cracked restoration (filling).

I checked our dental coverage on line last night (glad we travel with laptop) for local providers, and asked for referrals at the front desk this morning. The gentleman on duty geve us the name one of the listed insurance providers.

We called and they scheduled him for 10AM, took the necessary film and diagnosed the problem. We filled the RX at Publix, and can't believe that they don't charge to fill for antibiotics. Wow!! Hard to imagine these days.

He will have endo (root canal) done by our dentist when we return home.

Celebration Dental Group, Dr. Wm. Watson, and staff were wonderful!

Don't forget the tip about Publix. We usually shop there when we are visiting the World, but they have secured our future business also.

Now DH will be able to enjoy his popcorn:: during Fantasmic and fireworks.

Thanks to all of you wonderful folks :chat: for your caring and fast input.

By the way, I worked in a dental office for 40 years, so I had some idea what we needed.

I can't believe how timely this still is. On my way to WDW and just cracked part of a tooth off! Ack! At least I have my Fixodent with me! LOLOLOL
