So June 30th is DH's last day with his current company. As we've been getting closer and closer to that day, we've both been getting more and more nervous. Last week, he decided to go on an interview for a 3-month only contract position, since 3 month as a contractor would certainly pay more than unemployment.

On Friday, they decided they wanted him, and there was a small possibility that at the end of the contract they could take him on full time. The hourly rate worked out to be about $20 more an hour than what he gets paid now, so we were excited about the boost in pay, even though it was only guaranteed for the 3 months.

However, he had 2 interviews scheduled for today, so he wanted to go to those before officially accepting the 3-month contract. The interview this morning was a 3-month contract-to-hire position, but the money would only be a little bit more than what he makes now (so a bunch less than the 3-month contract) but with a greater potential to turn into something long term. DH talked back and forth with the recruiter, and the recruiter with this company, and I guess they REALLY wanted DH because they offered to in the first time in the company's history (they are a start-up) offer someone a full time position without being contract to hire, and the salary is 15% more than what he is currently making! But DH just got a raise with his current company last month, so from the day we moved up to CO it's almost 25% increase in pay! And since he won't start until July 7th, we get to keep the severance package. So our dream of having our own home within 12-18 months of moving up here is actually going to happen!

Woohoo!! Congrats Hope!!! That is some good news!!!!!
I hope your DH enjoys his new job!!!! Now what are you gonna do w/ that little bit of vacation time between June 30 and July 7?

Our 10th anniversary is the 4th of July, so we might try to go somewhere. Not sure where though.

I'm just all excited that I get to take advantage of Hobby Lobby's 2/$99 cricut carts this week!

OH~~~ If I hadn't spent all my money on vacation, I'd love to see the inside of Hobby Lobby.. I haven't been in M's, J's or HL's in 2 months... can you say withdrawl?

Congrats on the upcoming Anniversary!!!! :)

Congrats on the new job!
Cool that the company was willing to go against "protocol". It says good things about them. That they are willing to change if the change is positive.

Congrats on your soon anniversary!

What two carts are you looking at getting?

oh Hope that is wonderful news!!!!! i just knew that something good would happen for you guys!!! good things happen to good people! you must be so thrilled!
:cool1:

That's fabulous news, Hope! What a relief for both of you. I hope he really likes his new job! :)

Thanks everybody! It's been so stressful the last couple of months. It's amazing how a few words can make you feel 50 pounds lighter. Now I have to work on losing the 50 pounds :lmao: Now we can really explore our new area. Not only is the salary right, but it is in downtown Denver, and there is a bus that runs that is one block away from our apartment to across the street from the new job. The city has a transportation pass that companies can purchase for their employees, and this company participates, so DH won't even have to drive (which means we don't have to get a second car, and we don't have to pay for gas to and from).

What two carts are you looking at getting?

The original plan was to get Stretch Your Imagination and Joy of the Seasons, but that was before HL started stocking the Pooh carts, so I may get the Pooh shape cart instead of Joy of the Seasons. I have to see what they actually have in stock. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, and I told DH that I will be "making the rounds" (HL and Archivers) before I come home.

Congrats Hope, that is awesome!!! I am so glad that it all worked out so well.:cool1:

I am so happy for both of you:). Congratulations and have fun at the HL sale!

So HL had the Pooh carts on display but were out of stock, so I just got Stretch Your Imagination and Joy of the Seasons.

Oh, Hope, I am so happy for your husband. That must be such a relief for the two of you. And yeah that he can take the bus. That will be a huge stress reliever too.
