DH fixed sons iPod!

Ds dropped it and it had small crack for a long time but still worked fine. Dropped it again recently and the whole screen has huge spider crack. Decided to get him an iPad mini for Christmas instead of another iPod. But after researching we found a repair kit on amazon for $27 and he just fixed it today!!! He is still getting the mini too..

How difficult a repair is it? Is your DH very handy? My son's screen is cracked- started in the corner after he removed the case- and now it's spreading across the middle of the screen. I've been looking at the repair kit on Amazon and was wondering if your DH needed any help from the youtube videos online. I haven't checked them out yet.

YES, he is very handy, but he has big fingers and everything is little on the iPod. So, it was frustrating for him, but he did look at the videos from I crack. I also ordered a survivor case for the iPod and the iPad mini. So hopefully it doesn't happen again. Definitely worth trying if you are handy.

FYI-we found it very difficult to fix. We bought the kit and couldn't fix it, we ruined the ipod

Sorry to hear that! I was concerned about that too. We did find a place in our mall that said they could fix it for $89 but like I mentioned my DH is very handy. He is a mechanic and can fix just about anything, his only problem was the size, he isn't used to working on tiny things.

My hubby did the same for my daughter's ipod. She dropped it and it landed on a rock. Shattered the screen and she was devastated. He ordered the repair kit and successfully replaced the screen. Unfortunately, that ipod was doomed. She dropped it in the ocean about a month later. No repair kit for that one.

Some things can't be fixed, that is true. Sorry for your daughter.

I am NOT handy AT ALL and I successfully replaced DD's Ipod Touch screen. I watched the video over and over and over again and then it took about a hour and a half total.

Just make sure that you buy the right kit. The Ipod Touch 4G has the LCD and glass in one piece so just buying the glass is useless (I didn't read ver well the first time around)
