I was checking rates on American this morning (like I do every morning  ) and they have discounted fares through Nov. 15. They are supposed to be priced from $178, but everything I put in was coming up at $193 or $205. Which is still cheaper than the $232 that the flights have been. This doesn't help me since we need a flight for Dec. 1 or 2, but hopefully they will put those flights on sale eventually. In the meantime, maybe someone who is going before us can use this info! :)

I just wanted to pipe in and say that I am in love with American. By far, the best airline in the sky. I just love the ease of connecting at DFW also....Nothing but positive things!!

Glad to hear your comments. This will be my first time flying and we are flying American and connect in DFW. I am scared to death to fly so anything to help it be easier for me I am all for.

I don't love flying, but I will deal with it to get to WDW in 2.5 hours instead of the 24 hours it would take to drive! :moped:

I have never flown on any other airline besides American. I have never had any problems with them, and I love their commitment to community and diversity, so we'll probably stick with them! Besides, after we fly TWELVE round trips to WDW we'll have enough frequent flier miles to fly there again for FREE! :rotfl2:

I'm not sure how user friendly DFW is to folks connecting here. I have never had to change planes in ANY airport - I've always been lucky enough to have direct flights. I'm kind of a chicken when it comes to connecting flights. The more "legs" to a trip the more opportunity for something to go wrong!

DFW is an ok airport for connecting, but its kind of a pain because there is an "Air Train" that connects the different terminals. Allow at least 20 mins for connecting time if you are switching terminals. We just got back from Mexico, and from debording the aircraft, going through customs and security AGAIN and getting to our gate it took us around 35 minutes, so thats pretty good.

The new train is 5000 times better than our old options! Having lived here for several years and flying frequently we feel the new train is fabulous and works very well running well into the night and early in the am.

ugh. on advise from this board i booked with airtran at 205 each from dfw and my flights changed from nonstop to layover already. I am so upset i didnt wait! I too wanted to fly AA :(

I was so excited, but unfortunately not all dates are included. We are flying out on Friday, Sept 22nd and that's one of the dates not included. It jumps up to $250.10 for the dates we need.

It's kind of odd. The fare sale they had in the Spring required travel on Tues, Wed, or Sat ONLY. That was how I planned the dates for our December trip - I figured the same rules would apply.

Just to see what would come up I looked at some November dates. It is the same price to leave on Friday at 5 PM as it is to leave at Saturday at 6:40 AM! I would much rather go on Friday and hit the parks first thing Saturday morning! This is all just speculation, though, because there might not be any discounted fares for the first week of December. Then I have to decide if we want to spend $250 per person for December or just wait and go in March.

we seriously contemplated leaving late friday after school also so we had the whole day there (plus the extra dinners on free dining lol) but...were not sure if the room requests would be harder to get late at night vs noon time. Have you ever dealt with that. I was told i could change my date to the day before for airtran due to the flight change. but i think i saw that it would get me to WDW near midnight...eeek. How late does ME schedule? Is it round the clock?

Well, when we went in October we arrived pretty late. We got off the plane at 10:50 PM, and we arrived at Pop at 11:55 PM. Our room was WAAAAY out in the 80's section, but I hadn't requested anything other than non-smoking for medical reasons. The only rooms they had closer in were smoking rooms, so we took the far one! The resort was very full. The CM at the desk said we could keep checking back for a better room location, but we decided we were too lazy to move after we got into the room. More trouble than it was worth.

As long as Magical Express knows you are coming they will be there for you. The airport was pretty empty, but the queues for Magical Express had a fair amount of people in them, even that late at night. I think it is better to get there late Friday than noon Saturday, but that's just me. :)
