I am in the process of planning a vow renewal ceremony for December 2008, and as you all know I haven't actually booked it yet but there are tons of questions keeping me up at night while I try to run everything down in my mind.

The first is : How did most of you place your weddings- at the beginning, middle, or end of your trip and were you able to relax and enjoy being there before the wedding?? I have no idea what the exact date of our ceremony is going to be yet because I don't want the wedding to totally encompass our time at Disney.

Secondly: When is the best time to schedule your Mk photo shoot? The day of the wedding, or the day after the wedding and last, how well do the bouquets hold up in the event you choose to do your Mk photo shoot the day after??

Thanks,
Kim

Congrats! :cheer2:

We had our wedding right in the middle of our trip. We had about 3 days before our wedding to enjoy with our famlies, but we did have to take time out to get the tuxes, rehearsal etc.
If I had to do it again I would do it at the beginning so that way I could spend more time with my family at the parks. I didn't miss out on too much.
On the other hand all our guests were pleased with it being right in the middle of their trip. They liked how it gave them a little break and they were able to enjoy the wedding events without wanting to leave so they could go to the parks.

As far as the MK shoot - First you can get your bouquet and bout refreshed for the photo shoot. $75 for the bouquet & $15 for the bout.
Time wise, we had ours booked for the morning after our wedding. As the day went by we quickly realized that there was no way that we could get up at 4:30am and look human for our photos. We ended up making a quick schedule change and moved it to another date.
If my dh wasn't so stuck on not seeing each other before the wedding I probably would've done it then.
But I guess it all comes down to how busy your day is going to be. If you have alot going on, schedule it for a later time during your trip.
In my opinion, you pay a lot for these pics so bags and dark circles just won't due!

Thank you for your quick reply. I haven't even officially booked my vow renewal yet and there are so many thoughts and questions swirling around in my head. A Disney vow renewal seems like it is so easy to plan and do but when you start thinking about the logistics of everything you get a headache!!

We are doing the wishes package with only our immediate family in attendance and since most of them visit Disney pretty frequently I think I am going to do the vow renewal at the beginning of the trip so we can relax and enjoy the rest of our time in Disney. We have never been there during the holidays and I intend you see all there is to see for Christmas at Disney.

I am glad you told me about the refreshing thing, I was thinking that I might have a silk bouquet made just for the Mk shoot but now I think I will just do the refreshing. I agree with you, I don't think I want to do the Mk shoot the day after the vow renewal, I know we will be celebrating, eating and drinking too much and probably not getting to sleep at a decent hour. I really didn't want my dh to see me before the ceremony though, he hasn't seen my dress and I want to have that big AWE moment, still thinking on that one.

Thanks for your help
Kim

Ours was kinda in the beginning. We have families coming in earlier than we do and then leaving right after the wedding along with some coming in the day before the wedding and staying several days after.
So I guess it's beginning middle-ish... I want to spend sometime after the wedding with my family a little bit. That's why we do it earlier.

I'm not sure about the bouquet thing.
I'm hoping the day after the wedding is available because I don't want to wait a couple days later and have to have the hair and make up redone... :scared1:

We are local but i would say our wedding was at the beginning....we checked in a few days before and took two more days to check out before leaving for our honeymoon (didn’t want to go home at all)

As for the photo shoot...I second the don’t do it the next day....I was on autopilot the whole shoot...DH and I almost cancelled that am but we quickly realized we didn’t know who to call....(oh our wedding ended at 2am, took till 3 to say good night to everyone and then at 4:30 we just went and sat in the GF lobby because if we stayed in our room we wouldn’t have come down)

We check in 28th aug and our wedding is 2nd sep and then our MK shoot is 4th sep

Ours was at the begining. We arrived on the 14th, got married on the 15th and left on the 18th.

We're getting married at the beginning of our trip so that we have a big block of uninterrupted time to enjoy the parks.

The price of a bouquet refresh for the MK shoot depends on what's in your bouquet. They quoted me $110, so I bought a $20 silk bouquet to use.

Our MK Shoot is two days after the wedding - not too long to keep the tux, but it gives us the chance to sleep in after the wedding. I was going to have the cosmetologist come back, but I realized that none of the pictures they take are closeups, so my own handiwork will do fine! :cutie:

We had ours in the middle. I didn't like it. I would rather of had it a little earlier, so I could enjoy the parks more. Prewedding days were hectic trying to move resorts, getting tuxedos, and picking up people from the airport.

We had our MK shoot two days after the wedding. It worked out really nice. We got to relax and enjoy our first day as a married couple. We made the night before the photoshoot a nice quiet evening in the resort. We had dinner, then had drinks and kept it low key. Whatever you decide do not do it the day of the wedding/renewal. The park was incredibly wet from being cleaned, and also you have to be very careful not to get the dress dirty. It will get dirty rather easily too. Heck even my shoes came out dirty.

We got married earlier this month and it was almost at the end of our trip, if I had to do it again, I would have it in the beginning of the trip. I was so tired from the disney 'vacation' that I wanted to go home as soon as the wedding was over.

We had people coming and going at different times, but ours was primarily in the beginning. Our wedding was on our third day of our trip and we were there almost 2 weeks. It gave us time to get all the tux fittings and dress steamings taken care of.

We did our MK shoot the morning of the wedding. Since it was in August and going to be so hot, I didn't want to mess with hair and makeup more than once. That way we could send the tux back and send the dress in for cleaning. Everything was done and we could enjoy our honeymoon !!!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am pretty much decided that I want the vow renewal to be in the very beginning of the trip so we can relax for the rest of the trip. I am still not sure about when to do the Mk Photo Shoot, on one hand I think if I do it the same day as the vow renewal, then everything will be taken care of and the rest of the time can be spent doing whatever we want but, on the other hand I am not looking at having the ceremony until 2:30 and I am not sure if the hair and makeup is going to hold up that long. What do you guys think??

Thanks
Kim

We did our MK shoot the morning of the wedding. My main reason for doing this was that I didn't want to spend money on hair and makeup twice. We had to get up at 3am and we were exhausted at the end of the day, but I definitely think we made the right decision for us.

I had my hair/makeup done at 4:30am, my wedding was at noon, and we didn't get done with dinner until 8pm. Everything stayed in place just fine (even in the humidity in August). Good luck! :thumbsup2

I totally agree, I want the vow renewal to be great, wonderful and special but I am the type of person that obsesses about everything and there is no way I will be able to relax and enjoy being there if everything having to do with the wedding is not done. I like the idea of having it all on the same day and now that you mention it, being in December I doubt it is going to be hot enough to melt the makeup. If you don't mind my asking, what did it cost to have your hair and makeup done and who did you use??

Thanks
Kim

I used Ana from Beaute Speciale and if I remember correctly, she charged $165. She was fantastic! She is friendly, professional, and FAST. She even helped lace up the back of my dress. I can't recommend her enough. :goodvibes

I just recieved an email reply by Veronica from Beaute Speciale, I had heard them mentioned before and decided to drop them a line about pricing and availability, so I am glad to hear you were satisfied with them. I had heard some others here weren't happy with the ones they chose, and Beaute Speciale seems to be the consensus. Thank so much for your replies.

Ditto with Ana and an August wedding. Hair and make up were fine all day !! Took forever to get the hair to come down (50 or so bobby pins)!!! Same price as tiggerific04. Highly recommended !
