Deyki's Make-A-Wish - 12/15 - Maybe not

Big day ahead. It is not Disney or even wish related, but the day needs prayer, good wishes, pixie dust - all the positive it can get! I can't give too many details, but we have a very important meeting this morning with DCFS regarding baby girl. I really don't know what the outcome will be, but it could well be life-changing.

Myasma, thanks for the support. I think of your little darling often. I hope you have a wonderful day.

You have all the prayers, good wishes, and Pixie dust that I have. Good luck, I am looking foward to your next post.

Just got a post from my Pixie Dust supplier (OK, it a friend who works at the Gurnee Mills Mall Disney Outlet Store.)pixiedust:

It turns out that they are having a big sale. I copied part of the message so here you go.

Big doin's at the Disney store! We have an extra 40% off of most clearance going on now! Look for the signs to tell what's what. If the kids need swimwear, this is the time to get it! Beach towels, even the big, thick ones are on sale for $5.99 and kids t shirts are all $2.99. Neither of those have the extra off. They're just on sale, but it's a great price. In fact, almost all of the summer stuff is either on sale or clearance.

Thanks for the hint about the sale at the Disney Outlet. I think we will need to plan a trip there soon!

Update on the meeting with DCFS - I will have the little sweetheart with me at least 6 more months. After that the future is uncertain. I truly do want to see her mom get better. That's what makes this so complicated. Wishing to keep the baby is like wishing her mom doesn't succeed. I just want her to do what she is going to do quickly enough that our hearts are not broken. Well, I suppose it's too late for that. We love this little one and when/if the time comes to say goodbye, it will hurt. For now, DCFS agreed to keep things as they are. I have short-term guardianship and mom is supposed to work on her issues. I thinnk 6 more months will give every chance for mom to show what she is going to do. 6 more months to love on her, and we will see where this case ends up going.

Thanks for the prayer, good wishes, and Pixie dust.

I'm glad to hear all of this Disney planning helps keep your mind off of things less pleasant. That is wonderful. Disney does do wonderful things. I love the pic of him in the pool smiling, that's too cute.

I give you alot of credit fostering children, I can not even imagine caring for and falling in love with a child and then having the possibility linger that they may have to go back "home" You are very unselfish and If it weren't for people like you these kids would have no one. I wish you all the best with this and hope to God that you get to keep YOUR little girl :wizard:

Hopefully things will work out for the best. That must be a hard position to be in: wanting things to work out with the mom, but also wanting to keep the child. :grouphug:

Now you can focus on planning your Wish Trip!

Congrats on another 6 months.

Now time to start going Disney Crazy.

Would you be going to the Gurnee Disney Outlet? Let me know and maybe we can meet.:thumbsup2

It's the start of a busy week. Interestingly, none of the appointments are for Deyki. Michelle has her regular therapies 4 days this week - speech, aural rehab, music therapy, OT, PT, and DT. She also has an appointment with audiology on Tuesday. Hopefully she is starting to hear pitches in the higher tones now. We adjusted her cochlear implants a few weeks ago to help her hear them.

Next week is VBS at our church. I will be using all my free time to finish typing out the preschool curriculum I wrote and preparing crafts and decorations. It's the first year our church has done a VBS, so I am looking forward to a new experience.

It's off to a good start at least. Nidra is doing chores with a cheerful attitude. Chantae and Michelle are chattering away as they finish breakfast. Deyki is playing with a rocket he made at the Taste of Chicago yesterday. Joey, the baby I had for the last few days, is happily home with his mom. To top it off the sun is shining and it feels just right outside!

Hope you each had a happy fourth of July!

I just read your ptr. Your children are beautiful! I hope that MAW gets back to you soon and that you get to take another adult with you. I would take the baby. There is a lot she can do. The first time my oldest went to Disneyland she was 13 months old. You would be amazed at how much she can ride and all of the sights and sounds for her to take in. You will have access to the wish lounges, but you will also have access to the baby care centers in each park and they are also a wonderful place to change a diaper, take a break, watch a Disney movie, prepare a bottle or anything else that you might need. Just ask any questions you may have about taking little ones and I will try to answer them for you. :wizard:

Make-A-Wish called today. Our wish granters will be coming out to meet Deyki next week on Tuesday. He is so very excited - we all are! I continue to be surprised at how quickly they are moving and how organized it all seems.

All RIGHT!!!!!! HOW EXCITING !!!!!!!!

I am hoping that the e-mail I just got turns out to be a wonderful surprise. Someone thinks they have found our missing parakeet, Tweety!! Tweety has been missing for three weeks. She flew out the door after the physical therapist. It was traumatic - the kids were yelling and crying, I was in complete shock seeing her fly away. You see, Tweety is a very loved bird. She came when called and flew around the house most of the day. She could usually be found Chantae's shoulder. She loved playing Uno Attack with the family. She would fly over as soon as she heard me shuffling the cards. She loved watching them shoot out and would grab at them. She has so much personality, and we really miss her.

So, this woman about 45 minutes away saw my lost bird ad. She says a bird looking just like Tweety has been in her yard at the bird feeders everyday for about a week. She comes several times a day and seems to respond to the name Tweety, but won't get on her finger. Tomorrow I am trying to find time to drive Tweety's cage out to her. We will fill it with her favorite treats and hope that if it is her, she will decide to come home.

This would be a tremedously wonderful end to a very busy week! I am hoping for the best! Thanks for hoping with me!

ith me!

Aw!!!

I so hope Tweety comes home!! :yay:

Please keep us posted! That would be about on the realms of a miracle, in my book! To find a lost bird!

Deyki is having a difficult morning. He is irritable and was crying that he hurt, but he won't tell me what hurts. He has a very slight wheeze, but it is responding to his inhalers. He also seems more tired than usual and is a bit pale. I am hoping that he is going to bounce back with a little extra rest today. Often this is the beginning of a sickle crisis or infection. Thankfully he has no fever.

Next week is a big week with VBS and his wish granters coming. I hope he will be feeling well enough for it all. He will be so disappointed if he has to miss VBS. I will try to take it as easy as possible the next few days and hope for the best.

Not trip related, but our own middle of the night adventure. . .

We had our own mini-fireworks display in my daughter's room last night!:scared1: There was a loud thunderstorm outside that was scaring her. I was sleeping in her room trying to calm her fears. An extra loud rumble of thunder sent her scrambing from bed. She turned on her light only to see what she called "tiny red fireworks" shoot from the ceiling light along with several bright flashes of light. It was accompanied by big popping sounds.

Then came the smoldering, smoky smell. The ceiling is too high for me to climb and feel for heat. The smell is getting stronger. I thought of my other three children still sleeping and pictured an electrical fire consuming the bedrooms. At that point I decided to wake them and call the fire department.

I learned that my children can get up and out of the house very quickly if I tell them there may be a fire. Well, everyone but Deyki who decided he wanted to wear his crocs with Buzz Lightyear on it. We will have to talk about fire safety again this morning when he wakes.

I heard the sirens almost right away. (I am sure my neighbors loved that at 4AM.) Six firemen hurried into her room and climbed up a small ladder to touch the ceiling and examine the light fixture. Turns out the lightbulb was the culprit. Instead of just burning out gracefully, it exploded! they assured me it was safe to return.

As the sun rose, I got my four champs back to bed. They are sleeping still. I on the other hand, kept dreaming of our house collapsing around us! I am very thankful to have a house this morning, and even more thankful to have all four of my children!:lovestruc

OMG!!! What a terrifing night for you. Thank goodness you and your daughter caught it before anything really bad happened.:worship:

I hope Deyki is feeling better.:flower3::hug:

So, were you able to head up to Gurnee and check if that bird is Tweety?

Yes, it was a scary night! I am still tired today, but I have tons of VBS stuff to prepare for Monday, so not much time for a nap.

We got to Gurnee last night. We even stopped by the Disney outlet. Thanks for the tip!:thumbsup2 I showed the lady who saw the bird a video of Tweety, and she says they look alike. We didn't see Tweety, but we left our cage under the birdfeeder and are hoping for the best.

Did Liam have his doctor's appointment? How did it go? I hope you have only good news!`

Deyki is planning for his meeting with his Wish granters tomorrow. Today he asked, "Mommy, do you think they could help me be a pirate at Disneyworld?" He them asked me to help him remember to tell them all the different things he wants to do there - be a pirate, fight Darth Vadar, ride the Spiderman ride at Universal with Spidey, and take his sister to meet Belle. He is afraid he will get nervous talking to them tomorrow and forget all the things he wants to do.

I touched up all his dreadlocks today, so he is looking extra handsome if I do say so myself! As soon as I get my camera and computer to cooperate a little more, I will post new pics. His locks are now at least three times as long as they were in the picture with him and his sisters!

I'll be sure to take lots of pictures when he meets Tiffany and Jen from Make-A-Wish tomorrow!
