so this does not effect my family to much bc we renew gold APs using the dvc discount the renewal is now 460ish plus tax. Disney increased multiway tickets with hopper about 10%. Yesterday 2 adults and 1 child was 1380 and now it's 1520. This was the first time I have been surprised and disappointed with the prices increases 3-6% ok I get it wage increases and inflation but 10% I feel like it's a cash grab. So the headlines will be the smaller increases on the 1 day tickets 2-5 bucks but the real pain is on multi day tickets. pretty thankful for my dvc and pre 2011 resale dvc

Pre-4/4/16 resale has the same benefit.

I do find the price increase strange. We were there over July 4th last year, when crowds were so much lower than expected. I believe Hollywood Studios registered as a "2" at some point during the week. On the earnings calls, they stated that attendance is down, but revenue is up. Fewer people are in the parks, but they're spending more money. So, this may be a way to improve guest experience by reducing crowds for those who are willing to pay more.

During the May '06 earnings call, Iger said as much:

"We've taken a number of steps or made a number of steps to essentially grow revenue, in some cases, actually at the expense of some attendance where we're changing our pricing approach. Sometimes in part to moderate attendance so that the park experiences [sic] a little bit better but all designed with the effect of essentially raising revenue."

looks like it will be cheaper for us to renew than buy park hoppers for one trip. For the Platinum passes, why are there two different prices? is it regular price vs member price?

There is a Platinum Pass and a Platinum PLUS pass, each with Guest Price $ 779 and DVC price $679. The formatting didn't stay with the copy and paste. You can see the info on the member's site.

THANK YOU.... we can't see a Gold Pass renewal rate until our 60 Day ahead window.....

Now, here is the problem with Gold Pass renewals....

TODAY, one could buy a Gold AP - if you were a DVC member. That Gold AP would expire one year from today - 2-12-2018.

The problem: WDW will NOT list blockout dates past 1-2018.
It gets worse .... if one were to RENEW to a Gold AP? It might very well not expire until 2-12-2018 PLUS 60 DAYS - that would be the middle of APRIL, 2018.

Now - WDW WROTE these "60 day ahead of expiration" rules. Do you not think that they should divulge Gold AP blockout dates through APRIL 2018? Else - what is one buying?

Spring blackout dates will likely be the week before and after Easter as that is when they generally have been.

Yup - get "likely". Sadly, WDW will not post the data. So all we can do is "bet" :(. I really wish they would SPECIFY what we are buying.....

I think that this is a VERY valid request! I actually think that the black out dates for 2018 should have come out in January - atleast covering 13 months of black outs.

We purchased new DVC Gold Pass for $549 a few days before price increase, so looks like it was a $10 increase.

I don't see the big deal about the Gold Pass black out dates. You know they will most likely be last two weeks of the year +Jan 1 and either part of March or April, whenever Easter happens to fall. If you generally take vacation during those times the Gold pass probably isn't the best choice.

We bought a Gold Pass on Saturday that we won't even start using until early December 2018.

Nope - sorry. Today is 2-16-2017. A GOLD Pass is Valid for 365 days. If one is RENEWING a Gold Pass, one may do so 60 days before current pass expiration.
Those are WDW's own rules.

That means one MAY renew a Gold Pass that is valid until 4-17-2018, according to WDW's own rules.

Blockout dates are only being shown on WDW's Website through 1-31-2018. WDW is selling a product without full disclosure. This is a dishonest act. An HONEST act is to reveal the true limitations of a product over its lifetime. Put in other terms? There is no limitation to WDW to "blocking out" every date from 2-1-2018 through 4-17-2018 while selling "todays" Gold AP.

So I ask again: WDW, show the BLOCKOUT DATES. If you can not do so? Stop selling the product until you have the ability to sell an HONEST product, with full terms.

I am fully aware that you already HAVE these dates, internally. DVC has communicated them to me. Your REAL problem lies in your inability to POST this data on your Website.
Get a real Website. POST your data. I refuse to post it FOR you. I HAVE your blockout dates through April 2018 - communicated BY ANOTHER ARM of WDW that has a brain.

So - can you just get your act together? Really - left hand talks to me, right hand is an idiot. That isn't the sign of a coherent corporation. ACT like a coherent corporation.

So you know the dates because DVC shared them with you? Will you share them with all of us?

No, I will not. Instead, I want you to DEMAND that those dates get revealed to EVERYONE. We HAVE our data - and I refuse to do WDW's job for them.

Yup - sounds cruel. But if you will not ALSO demand Gold AP blockout dates? We are getting nowhere with WDW.

I have to agree. We all do so much complaining but unless we write letters voicing those complaints, it's all in vein. I'll add, why doesn't everyone request that Disney make the weekday select pass available to members?

Op, I'll write my letter today.

IMO, some battles are just not worth fighting, and this is one of them. I'll be saving my letters for more important things.

We purchase GOLD passes every other year or so. The black out dates have pretty much mirrored Premier Season and there is no reason to assume they will be anything different going forward. In any event, I'd love those odds in Vegas. JMHO. YMMV

But CarolMN? Some of us just never like to gamble :). This is an odd case - WDW HAS this data. They just currently refuse to publish it.
So - is it a GOOD thing that everyone who wants the data has to call or email a DVC rep, consume their time, and effectively cost WDW money?
Or would it be better to just PUBLISH the actual terms of a one year GP?

Just askin'.....

I'd rather push a noodle up hill with my nose (and would probably would be more successful) than push corporate bureaucracy to hurry up. They do things in their own time.

I'll save my written complaints for other things. Sometimes, it's better to be effective than right. Just sayin'........ YMMV and that's OK with me. :)
